    Harajuku: Bargain Hunting and Sight-Seeing
    2007-12-21 10:09:00
I first heard about the word and place Harajuku from our HR in Makati. She would always tease me not to fall in love with girls in Harajuku. Well, I finally set foot on this place. I can say that this is like an upscale Okachimachi. Takeshita street is filled with so many souvenir shops, fashion accessories, clothes shops, jewelries, lingerie shops, RTWs, crepe shops and restaurants. Compressed and just one street and this place is filled with so much people who want to find affordable fashion wears.Along Yamanote line, get-off at Harajuku and then when you go out of the station, this street is already visible from the other side. One thing for sure is that your money here can buy more than you can buy in the fashion streets of Ginza, Roppongi and Shibuya.Wolfgang's restaurant is also here. I don't really know if this is really his restaurant. But from outside, it seems that this restaurant serves delicious food. Many foreigners fill this road. When visited this place, most people were dragging their luggages along with them. Mostly foreigners, and locals who purchase fashion wear there.Harakuju, probably, has the largest density of crepe shops. In every corner or block, there is always a crepe shop. Prices range from the basic 300 crepe to 800 filled mango and strawberry filled stuffed with ice cream. Here you can also find those very popular show clogs. The tall-sole-type boots whom women here always wear. They come in all shapes, sizes, and colors.Harajuku also offers RTWs for all sexes and ages. From children to adults, name it, they have it. There are other parts of Harajuku that are worth visiting aside from Takeshita. Maybe I will post it the next time around.

    harajuku girl and photographers
    2007-11-23 23:00:00
so i ended up getting a little behind in writing comments for photos... sorry about that! i ended up posting a number of images from harajuku this week; i hope that you enjoy them! one of the neat things about seeing the different cosplay (costume-wearers) people in harajuku is how foreign tourists can't take enough photos! it's really odd: many tourists will be wearing awkward grins (like grandparents reacting to nipple piercings) but forget their mixed emotions long enough to snap a few dozen photos. i will be posting a few photos in the future on their reactions-- i try to take photos of people taking photos. it's weird. but i find it so interesting that people give me faces with such contempt and bitterness when they find my lens following them-- even though they feel it completely fine to follow around these cosplay people.
