Broncos Release Mike Bell and Garrett Hartley
    2008-07-21 16:33:51
The Denver Broncos on Monday waived running back Mike Bell and kicker Garrett Hartley, Head Coach Mike Shanahan announced. Bell, a third-year player, rushed for 680 yards on 163 carries (4.2 avg.) with eight touchdowns in 20 games (3 starts) as a Bronco. He entered the NFL with Denver on May 8, 2006, as a college free agent from the University of Arizona. Hartley, a rookie, entered the NFL with the Broncos on April 28, 2008, as a college free agent from the University of Oklahoma. Most of the "originals" know my feelings on Bell, or any undrafted FA in a big time role so I won't get into it.  Well, maybe I will on MHR Radio Wednesday.  Let's face it, when a player can't even get to camp without getting cut it really isn't that big of a loss. I wish both men the best.

Hartley Rewarded For Hard Work As Coach Of Lousy Team
    2007-10-17 12:29:00
Bob Hartley is not a bad coach. He won a Stanley Cup with the Colorado Avalanche back in 2001, so obviously he has talent behind the bench. But, looking at the lineup of that team, even Wayne Gretzky could have coached the Avs to a championship.I kid the Great One, I kid.But back to Hartley, today the Atlanta Thrashers fired his ass because they haven't managed to win a game yet this season---the only winless team in the entire NHL. It's not uncommon for a hockey team to fire their coach when they can't win any games. But is it really Hartley's fault? The team isn't exactly stacked with talent. It's not exactly stacked with anything except a bunch of guys who are either too old to still be playing or belong in the AHL. Hossa and Kovalchuk are pretty good, but Hossa's injured. One guy can't carry an entire team. So, is it fair to fire a coach when the front office doesn't give him all that much to work with? Hartley has proven in the past that when given a lineup almost totally filled with All-Stars, he can win a Cup. Why is it so hard for Atlanta to provide that for him?

    Hartley Enterprises’ Haybusa-derived 2.8L V8
    2007-05-19 22:05:19
Filed under: Gadgets, Tech If four’s good, then eight must be better - that’s the idea behind this jewel-like V8 engine built by Hartley Enterprises from two Suzuki Hayabusa four-cylinder powerplants. The 75-degree V8 displaces 2.8 liters, weighs only 200 lb and puts out 400 hp at a window-rattling 10,000 rpm. Torque peaks at respectable 245 ft-lbs (at 7500 rpm!), although dyno runs for a 2.6 liter version show a fairly flat curve. Aside from boring out the ‘busa block from 81mm to 83mm, none of the wide variety of performance enhancements available for the bike version have been applied to the HE V8, so it’s safe to say we’re nowhere near the performance limits of the design. Hartley’s diminutive V8 is produced to order, with the 2.8 liter version priced under $30,000, depending on options. Check out the Hartley Enterprises website for more details, including video of a dyno run with the engine installed in a Caterham 7. Thanks for the tip, Matt! [
