| Felix Hernandez Shuts Down Boston Red Sox Offense...Seattle 8 Boston 0 | | 2008-06-07 04:21:00 | | Chalk up Friday night's Boston Red Sox loss to the Seattle Mariners, an 8-0 whitewashing, to superior pitching, and that pitching was authored by Felix Hernandez, who ALWAYS pitches well at Fenway Park. Last night, he went six innings and gave up only six hits. The Mariners' bullpen took over from there and made that shutout official. Here's what he, his manager and one of his opponents had to say after the game...“Felix stepped up and has been pretty good in Fenway Park,” Mariners manager John McLaren said.“It was important for me, important for the team. I was trying to keep the lead,” said Hernandez, who won for the second time in as many starts after going seven starts without a win. "He did a great job of keeping us off base, and really not letting us get anything together and when we did have something going, he made some pitches when he had to,” Casey said.Peter here. Boston starter Bartolo Colon's performance was better than the "runs allowed" figure indicates. He wen... | | By: Peter's Red Sox Forever | | |
| | Hernandez Shines as Canes Top Gaels | | 2008-05-03 19:14:00 | | Fresh off a week that saw the Canes lose a disappointing game to FIU before sweeping ranked Virginia, the Miami baseball team continued to roll yesterday with a 10-6 victory over St. Mary's.I was sure that the loss to FIU would drop the team from the top spot in the rankings, but apparently the pollsters were sufficiently impressed by the sweep of a Top 25 team that the Canes were again the consensus #1 team in the country. With the ranking came a much needed midweek rest where we didn't have to play a Tuesday or a Wednesday game. That should have given the guys some time to rest up and study a bit for final exams. It seems the mini break was productive, as Miami did a nice job of handling the Gaels yesterday. Chris Hernandez held them to 1 run over 5 innings, as he has been our most consistent and impressive starter so far this season. The freshman has impressed me and probably will have caught the eye of most MLB scouts by now.The game also saw Jemile Weeks break the school record for... | | By: State of Miami | | |

| | Da Daily Donkey Goes to Malu Hernandez! | | 2007-08-14 12:50:52 | | Da Daily DonkeyMalu Hernandez(click pics to enlarge)I'll just keep this short. And sweet. A self-described jet-setter, Malu Hernandez, wrote:"The hub was in Dubai and the majority of OFWs (Overseas Filipino workers) were stationed there. The duty-free shop was overrun with Filipino workers selling cell phones and perfume. Meanwhile, I wanted to slash my wrist at the thought of being trapped in a plane with all of them. Of course, everyone in economy class was yelled at for having overweight hand-carries. Mine was 17 kg (ssshhhh!). That was all makeup and accessories I would never risk losing if my luggage ended up in the middle of the Sahara Desert.""While I was on the plane (where the seats were so small i had bruises on my legs), my only consolation was the entertainment on the small flat screen in front of me. But it was busted, so I heaved a sigh, popped my sleeping pills and dozed off to the sounds of gum chewing and endless yellowing of "HOY! Kumusta ka na? At taga saan ka?... | | By: The AnitoKid Chronikos | | |
