| The Veepstakes: Hillary Clinton | | 2008-07-07 21:02:00 | | Any discussion about Barack Obama's potential running mates would be incomplete without Hillary Clinton. I first shot down the idea of an Obama-Clinton ticket back in February and have expressed reservations about it since then despite her obvious strength. However, time has bolstered Obama's political footing. He is now in a significantly stronger position now than he was two months ago when Clinton was winning Pennsylvania and running up the score in West Virginia. Time has worked to Obama's benefit in that a lot of the hard feelings among Democrats have dissipated and the negative attacks have stopped. Now there is greater unity among the Democrats as they prepare for the fall campaign against John McCain. Hillary Clinton is out of the headlines, thus ceding the stage to Barack Obama. This lack of exposure is gradually weakening her leverage. In addition to this, polling in various battleground states further weakens Clinton's hand. Ingenui a volte. Lei signora Clinton era la first lady. Ci spieghi.Obama ha sempre saputo prendere al balzo le debolezze dell'avversaria. E con non poca difficoltà si è portato a casa la partita | | By: PrimaPagina NewsBlog | | |

| Hillary Clinton Makes Gracious Exit From Campaign, Endorses Obama | | 2008-06-08 00:09:00 | | On Saturday afternoon, Senator Hillary Clinton gave what had to be the most difficult speech of her career. Clinton’s speech before thousands of people packed into the National Building Museum in Washington, DC, marked the official end of her campaign. Clinton announced that she would be suspending her campaign and pledging her full support to Senator Barack Obama. After 16 months of hard fought campaigning, Clinton told the crowd at the beginning of her speech, “This isn't exactly the party I'd planned.” Clinton found a message in Saturday’s speech that may have helped her earlier in the campaign. Clinton spoke of the glass ceiling that her 18 million supporters helped to chip away at and said she will keep fighting for them. Clinton said, “[today] the 50th woman to leave this Earth is orbiting overhead. If we can blast 50 women into space, we will someday launch a woman into the White House.” “Although we weren't able to shatter that high | | By: The Mersman Political Blog | | |

| Hillary Clinton's Path to the Vice Presidency | | 2008-06-06 23:23:00 | | Shortly after the primaries in Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia almost four months ago, I wrote about the problems Hillary Clinton and her campaign were having in terms of their brand image. Here is a brief summary from my original analysis:"To summarize, Hillary Clinton is running on a message that does not match what voters are looking for [experience], chose a poorly worded [egocentric] campaign slogan that embodies the worst conceptions people have of her, and is unable to strongly make the case for her candidacy (e.g., support her brand image) without inviting blowback that would lessen the potency of her attacks. While it is still possible that Obama could stumble and Clinton could emerge victorious, her once near-certain chances of snaring the nomination have gone up in smoke. And a lot of these problems are due to simple marketing problems, rather than Obama's strength."Clinton was unable to remedy these problems in time to salvage the nomination. | Does Hillary Clinton Expect a Barack Obama Assassination? | | 2008-05-24 21:15:00 | | Hillary Clinton’s remarks on Friday about Bobby Kennedy’s assassination in 1968 may give an inkling of the real reason why she continues to hang on to her hopes of obtaining the Democratic nomination for president. The former first lady made her Bobby Kennedy comments during an interview with the Sioux Falls Argus Leader editorial board, and she made them in an attempt to negate recent calls for her to bow out of the race for the Democratic nomination for president.“My husband didn’t wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere in the middle of June,” Clinton said. “We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California. I don’t understand it,” which referred to the thinking of those who would have her bow out now--at a junction that Hillary considers to be too soon. After Senator Bobby Kennedy was fatally shot in June of 1968 in the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles by Sirhan Sirhan, a Jordanian immigrant, Hubert Humphrey becam | | By: In The Spotlite | | |

| As promised, a rant on Hillary Clinton | | 2008-05-22 23:05:00 | | It's been over two weeks since the primaries of Indiana and North Carolina got the talking heads of the media signaling the end of the campaign of Hillary Clinton. Even NBC's beloved Tim Russert said on air that it was obvious who the Democratic nominee was - and it wasn't her. For the next few days, Clinton's message changed from the normal. When I myself saw her here in Louisville, there was no attack on Barack Obama. But it's amazing what two weeks can change. And in this case, change is not a good thing.Substantial wins in West Virginia and Kentucky seem to have Clinton back in "I'm going to win this thing" mode and the reasoning on just how she can do that - now behind in pledged delegates, superdelegates, states won, and popular vote (unless you ask her campaign) - becomes more desperate than ever. While it was at first a seemingly sure thing for her, then transformed into a dramatic race, then became more and more apparent that Obama was going to take it, the Clinton campaig | | By: (Beyond the Nation) | | |

| The popular math of Hillary Clinton | | 2008-05-21 07:42:00 | | As expected, Hillary Clinton took Kentucky last night with Barack Obama winning Oregon. Without all of Oregon's districts having reported in yet, the Clinton campaign has restarted their constant yarbling that she is ahead of Obama in the popular vote, therefore it is in the superdelegates best interest to follow the will of the people.Alright, that's a bit of a stretch. For the Clinton campaign's popular vote claim to be true, a few circumstances have to be taken into account (all numbers coming from RealClearPolitics). Both Michigan and Florida count towards the total, even though both have been stripped of their delegates for breaking DNC rules. The vote in Michigan is counted exactly as it stands, with Obama receiving zero votes, as he was not on the ballot. The caucus states of Iowa, Nevada, Maine and Washington are completely disregarded, without even an estimate used to represent their results. The first point is quite expected. | Hillary Clinton Wins Big In West Virginia | | 2008-05-13 20:32:00 | | Today West Virginia voted, and gave Hillary an overwhelming victory. | Hillary Clinton: What's Next | | 2008-05-07 23:41:00 | | In the eyes of most pundits and political observers, yesterday's split decision in the North Carolina and Indiana primaries was actually a devastating blow to the presidential aspirations of Hillary Clinton:1. Even though she won Indiana, she only won by 2 percentage points, which is far less than what most people had expected. That disappointing finish really blunted some of her preferred talking points coming out of the election--that she had real momentum and that Obama had real problems among voters in the Midwest. People aren't talking about Obama's inability to win places like Ohio as much as they used to.2. She lost North Carolina by such a large margin that it essentially canceled out the popular vote margin she had racked up in Pennsylvania. She can still claim to be leading in the overall popular vote, but given the quasi-elections of Florida and Michigan, this popular vote "lead" is not entirely credible. And more importantly than popular votes, Obama netted more pledg | | By: The 7-10 | | |

| Did Hillary Clinton Fail Econ 101? | | 2008-04-27 23:00:00 | | This presidential campaign season has produced a lot of discussion over the various candidates' supposed knowledge of economics. The sad result is that none of them — Clinton, Obama, or McCain — seem to have a grasp of basic economics. That or they really know what they are talking about and are just pandering to those who may benefit from certain policies (despite how bad they are) or those who have a limited understanding of how markets work, which is always a possibility.Clinton and McCain are supporting a temporary repeal of the federal gas tax (18.4 cents), which is bad tax policy for a variety of reasons. But Clinton is going a step further. She must have gone to the Sonny Perdue school of economics because she not only wants the gas tax repealed, but she is essentially supporting price controls by saying that she would force the price at the pump to fall by 18.4 cents, or else the Federal Trade Commission would come after station owners. | | By: Tax Policy Blog | | |

| Hillary Clinton: Then and Now | | 2008-03-31 15:13:00 | | Hillary Clinton started off this year's presidential contest as the woman to beat. She was the undisputed frontrunner who had the luxury of staying above the fray while the longshots, no-shots, and underdogs kept scrapping with each other as they jockeyed for position. Her closest rival for most of last year was Barack Obama, whom she rarely engaged for the first half of the year. All of this changed, however, after Iowa and New Hampshire. Longshot candidates Richardson, Biden, and Dodd dropped out, thus leaving Clinton a bit more exposed. It's easy to maintain one's frontrunner aura when you are sharing the stage with six or seven other candidates. But when that number was reduced to three, it became much easier for voters to make clear distinctions between the candidates. On top of this, Clinton placed third in Iowa. This third place finish is what gave Barack Obama both legitimacy and momentum. Clinton was able to eke out victories in New Hampshire and Nevada (though Obama won more de | | By: The 7-10 | | |

| Senator Hillary Clinton Tries to Attract Women Voters | | 2008-02-29 15:01:41 | |
As a woman I do not respect Senator Hillary Clinton and the reason I don't is that I feel she does not send the correct message to ANY women on this planet, since she has (and still is) enabling an abuser of women. How ironic (and phony) that this abuser of women, who we all know to be the former U.S. President Bill Clinton, of course, is out there doing his utmost to trumpet his wife's presidential ambitions, which I believe that she herself had set her sights on while she was speaking to us as First Lady. In MY personal opinion, part of the reason that she finds herself trailing behind Barack Obama in many states is due to the damage inflicted upon voters' ears by the sour notes that are sounding from that particular trumpet. | Hillary Clinton Sides with Socialism over Chelsea | | 2008-02-20 17:56:40 | | Hillary Clinton just came out recently claiming that wealthy investment bankers and hedge fund managers on Wall Street aren't doing real ‘work.’ She blasted those greedy hedge fund professionals for making too much money as well. The only problem is that her daughter works for a hedge fund.
Yes, Chelsea Clinton works for Avenue Capital Group, a New York based Hedge Fund Company. Apparently,...

| Hillary Clinton to Target Obama’s Pledged Delegates | | 2008-02-19 20:15:59 | |  I have a problem with Hillary Clinton.
Actually, I have many, many problems with Hillary Clinton but today I have added another. Anybody who has been a reader here knows that I have been relishing the fact that Hillary Clinton and her campaign seem to be faltering. Readers here also know that I think Barack Obama [...] | | By: Wake Up America

Cross posted on Political Gravitas!
I haven’t written about this topic yet, but I certainly am enjoying it. This is going to be fun as Hillary Clinton has reached such desperate times that she is trying to have the Florida and Michigan delegates counted.

| Hillary Clinton on gay rights | | 2008-02-11 19:01:00 | | I'd hardly say that either Democratic candidate has done a great job addressing issues of equality. But who could blame them? John McCain has already said he would seek out the advice of Karl Rove, and we all know how the Republicans (and particularly Karl Rove) will have no problem using such issues against to "divide and conquer" the electorate in this election just like they did in 2004, and just like they did in 2000.
Regardless, Clinton has said she would work to repeal "Don't ask don't tell" and to extend federal recognition to same sex couples.
She called for extending federal recognition to same-sex couples, repealing “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell†and rejected claims that she doesn’t speak forcefully enough on gay issues — something that supporters of rival Sen. Barack Obama have asserted during the campaign.
“I talk about gay issues frequently,†she said. “I’ve been a longtime friend of the gay community — I’ve been talking about these issues since 1999 w | | By: The Colette

| Hillary Clinton agrees to debate on Fox News | | 2008-02-05 14:20:00 | |
Agreeing to appear on a ratings grabbing, and therefore rather profitable debate program on a network known for being an undeniable "media arm" of the Republican party? Unbelievable.
A few weeks ago I was planning to vote for her but then the whole thing about her sitting on the board at Wal Mart, and now she agrees to a debate on Fox (FAUX!) News? Way to drive me (and I'm sure many others too) completely over the edge towards Obama.
"There is an enormous interest in these debates an clamoring on the part of the Democratic Party for them," said Clinton's spokesperson Howard Wolfson. "We have not had a large number in which two people have participated. We've had multi-candidate debates... the fact is Senator Clinton has enjoyed the opportunity to debate and get her message out. Certainly as we move to the next exciting day of this nomination calendar, voters want the opportunity to see these two candidates compete against each other."

| Ann Coulter: Hillary Clinton is Smarter & Lies Less Than John McCain | | 2008-02-01 05:33:41 | | “If he’s [McCain] our candidate than Hillary is our girl, Sean”
Think Clinton is unelectable by Republicans? Think again. With this endorsement, she might even best Obama with conservatives.

| What South Carolina Means: Hillary Clinton | | 2008-01-25 06:09:00 | | (Note: This is the second in a three-part series assessing South Carolina as it pertains to the three leading Democratic candidates. Yesterday's post addressed John Edwards. Tomorrow's post will address Barack Obama. Today's post looks at Hillary Clinton.)---Hillary Clinton enters the South Carolina Democratic primary in an unfamiliar position: that of the underdog. After leading most polls last year and enjoying the aura of inevitability for the better part of the year, Barack Obama’s victory in the Iowa caucuses and her come from behind victory in New Hampshire have significantly weakened her stranglehold on the party’s presidential nomination. But after notching her second straight primary victory in Nevada, Clinton seems to have regained her footing and is one win away from possibly irreparably deflating the candidacy of her main rival. However, a South Carolina victory appears more elusive than any other victory thus far. | Hillary Clinton Supporters Sue the Nevada Caucas | | 2008-01-13 20:52:34 | | Â The Nevada Culinary Union has endorsed Barack Obama. That would seem to be nothing out of the ordinary, a union endorsing a Democrat. There is only one problem, the Democrat they endorsed was not Mrs. Clinton. Now the Nevada’s teacher’s union and some of Hillary’s supporters are suing to make it harder for the culinary [...] | | By: Wake Up America | | |

| Hillary Clinton’s Campaign Charged with Making Racially Insensitive Comments | | 2008-01-13 09:11:40 | |  Cross posted on Grizzly Groundswell
Hillary Clinton, her husband, and her campaign are coming under fire for recent remarks that have been made. They are being called racially insensitive remarks and offensive. | Hillary Clinton and hubby a bit more aggressive | | 2008-01-10 20:00:41 | | New York Sen. Hillary Clinton, who’s in a fight for her political life against her Illinois colleague, Sen. Barack Obama, has gotten a bit more aggressive in her attacks on her young rival. "Today Senator Obama used President John F. Kennedy and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to criticize me," she said, according to an ABC News report. "Basically he compared himself to two of our greatest heroes saying, 'Well, they gave great speeches.' President Kennedy was in the Congress for 14 years. He was a war hero. He was a man of great accomplishments and readiness to be president. Dr Martin Luther King Jr. led a movement. He was gassed; he was beaten; he was jailed. And he gave a speech that was one of the most beautiful, profoundly important ever delivered in America . …And then he worked with President Johnson to get the civil rights laws passed because the dream couldn't be realize until finally it was legally permissible for people from all colors and backgrounds and races and ethnicities to be accepted as citizens." Hillary Clinton on Monday also warned that Al-Qaeda watched US elections, urging Americans not to risk electing an inexperienced president, in her latest implicit swipe at rival Barack Obama. Meanwhile, Bill Clinton’s onetime Democratic adviser, Donna Brazile, described attacks against Obama by the former president as downright offensive. She was referring to Bill Clinton’s tirade following his wife’s loss to Obama in Iowa when he labeled Obama a “kid," and described Obama's views as a "fairy tale." To call the dream of unity and optimism a fairy tale, which Bill Clinton seemed to be doing, could very well be insulting to some of us. Former president Bill Clinton also made a pointed reference to the September 11 attacks in 2001, arguing that the next president had to be ready for sudden, national security challenges."You have to have a leader who is st | | By: PhreQuency Ent.

| Schadenfreude and Hillary Clinton | | 2008-01-09 13:32:37 | | I have to admit a secret: I really enjoyed watching Hillary Clinton’s lifelong dream of becoming the President of the United States come crashing to a halt (But, don't count her out). When I saw her crying because she lost in Iowa, possibly sealing her fate, I recall laughing as if I was watching a standup comedian. It was really enjoyable.
If any of you knew me in person, you would find it...
