| | Hindu weddings | | 2008-12-09 15:36:45 | | Now we will dicuss about different traditions in different religions. Different faiths have different and fascinating wedding traditions. | | A Bleak Future for Bangladesh Hindu's | | 2008-09-13 08:55:00 | | February 2000SOCIAL CHANGEA Bleak Future for Bangladesh Hindu'sIn the last fifty years, more than ten million of the country's Hindu's have fled to India in the face of sustained persecution and periodic riotsWith its poverty and frequent cyclones, Bangladesh is major news each year. But the unfolding fate of Hindus in the country rarely makes headlines. The numbers tell the story. In 1872, 53% of the people in what is now Bangladesh were Hindus. In 1900, it was 32.7%, and by 1947, 22%. Today it has dropped to 10%. Conceivably, by 2050 Bangladesh will have achieved the status of Pakistan: no significant Hindu population. Ishani Chowdhury, a New York university student, was commissioned by Hinduism Today to report on one of the most heartless persecutions and forced migrations of modern times. Be advised, this is a gut-wrenching story of a people systematically hounded out of their ancestral land because of their religion, a story largely ignored by the world. My mother saw with her own ... | | By: Hindus of Bangladesh | | |

| Hindu mascot set for a comeback | | 2008-08-20 02:09:00 | | Dis-spirited Congress campaign and rebels’ failure comes to his aidThe die was cast even before the nominations to Gujarat Assembly elections could begin. With BJP leadership able to mollify the reticent patriarch Keshubhai Patel from launching an open rebellion, Narendra Modi is set to return as Chief Minister for the third term. Even Modi’s most staunch critics like Vishwa Hindu Parishad General Secretary Dr. Pravin Togadia and Gandhian Chunnibhai Patel concede that nobody can stop Modi from returning to power now.The reasons are not far to seek. BJP rebels’ campaign fizzled out after they had mobilised sizeable public opinion against Modi. Keshubhai went to the extent of exhorting his supporters not to vote for Modi but stopped short of calling them to vote for either Congress or the rebels contesting under the banner of Uma Bharati’s party, Bhartiya Janshakti Party. That left his supporters confused and disillusioned. “We are still waiting for his directions”, said one ... | | By: IIPM-World | | |
| | Hindu Gypsy Thread | | 2008-08-17 05:29:00 | | Effect: Performer takes a spool of thread, unravels about a foot of it, & then breaks it off, putting the spool down. Performer proceeds to break the thread into 6 or 7 clearly broken & different pieces, then holding one piece in one hand, the other pieces are rolled up into a ball and 'squashed' onto the piece from the other hand. When this is unravelled it is seen to be completely restored to it's original length. VERY visual, & very clean, pretty easy to do as well. Here's the routine.Preparation: Only practice & you need a spool of cotton thread, preferably brightly coloured. It has to be cotton, otherwise you will need scissors to cut it. Or you could do a burned & restored thread.Performa... | | By: OPTICAL ILLUSIONS | | |
| | Hindu & Muslim: A Good Death | | 2008-07-02 21:01:53 | | By Voices Of FaithIn The News Tribune, Tacoma What is a good death in your faith?A GOOD FRAME OF MINDA.M. Bhattacharyya, an active member of the Hindu community: According to the Hindu faith, death brings an end to the physical body. The indwelling soul, also called "self," the real driver of the body, comes from the "Supreme Soul" (God).Because of its divine source, the soul is immortal. When the body dies, the embodied soul leaves the body. It has two paths to go. It either reincarnates in a new body or unites with God. Hindu scriptures emphasize the state of mind at the time of death in determining the soul's future path. Gita says, "For whatever object a man thinks of at the final moment, that alone does he attain, being ever absorbed at the thought thereof" (Chapter VIII-6).The impressions of the person's karma (thoughts and deeds), good or bad, are mainly responsible for creating a dying person's frame of mind. So a person living a loving, honest, compassionate, righteous life wi... | | By: Spiritual Village | | |

| i sold my soul for spiderman ice cream and also, i am psuedo hindu | | 2008-06-06 16:06:00 | | Wooo, this week was super cool. Not in the way that I won the lottery or anything (although if half the messages I get were true I'd easily buy out Rupert Murdoch, jesus) but there were a bunch of little things that just made me smile. Some being:Midnight saxophone serenade in the park to go to sleep byIce cream every dayFree vintage jewelery (thank you Vee!)Going shopping tommorowI won $34 million invisible moneysThe things I'm best at are: making fun of myself and Abigail. The second thing is awkward posing. This showcases both. Don't you feel special. What first struck me about this skirt is that it's just so...stiff. And kind of ugly. Actually, really ugly when you first look at it up close. I was literally repelled by this dress a few months ago. And then, it's not. I grew to love the weirdly angled, stiff pockts and the faded florals for what they were: effing awesome. You know what it's like to really want something badly and you dream about it, and eventually you have random out... | | By: Fashion Pirates | | |

| | Hindu Proverbs | | 2008-02-06 15:20:42 | | St Paul used the word Saint to refer to all the believing Christians, even those still living on earth. We usually reserve it for those who have left this world in God’s friendship and are now with him in heaven forever.
Saints fly only in the eyes of their disciples.
Anger has no eyes.

| | Another stunning Hindu ceremony | | 2007-04-10 05:24:37 | | This past Friday I was invited to photograph a friend’s engagement party. It was a great night, and I thoroughly enjoyed being part of the evening. I’d like to share a few of the photographs I captured with you. Enjoy.
Jyoti looked absolutely stunning, and the colours just blew me away.
As part of the evening, Jyoti is adorned with all manner of gifts, money, jewellery and fed various foods.
There was a beautiful sense of family among the ladies. I got this great shot of Jyoti’s grandmother, looking on.
Later in the evening the ladies sang to Jyoti and played various musical instruments… lovely to be a part of.
