| Cameron Hired by Ravens | | 2008-01-23 17:43:00 | | Recently fired head coach Cam Cameron has quickly found himself another job in the NFL as the OC of the Baltimore Ravens. I'm not sure how much his "offensive genius" can help the team. The only consistent talent they have on offense is Willis McGahee and an aging Derrick Mason(what happened to Todd Heap last year?).What's pretty certain is that Cameron likely won't have another head coaching opportunity in the foreseeable future. He did nothing to prove he is capable of managing the personalities of a full roster and doesn't have the leadership skills to demand the respect of his players. | | By: State of Miami | | |
| | Sparano Hired | | 2008-01-16 15:15:00 | | In other news, astronauts have made it to the Moon.Tony Sparano finally got hired this morning after an extensive courtship that all but the those hiding under rocks knew would end in a contract offer. Sparano will make between 2 and 2.7 million a year as a first year head coach. Quite a tidy sum I'd say. Parcells must have the utmost confidence in Sparano's coaching abilities. We'll see.Now the trifecta is complete. Miami has become Dallas part deux. Hopefully the combined efforts of Parcells, Jeff Ireland, and Sparano will help turn this franchise around. Everything starts in late April at the NFL Draft. Hope for the best, people. | | By: State of Miami | | |
| | OFFICIAL: Tony Sparano hired as head coach | | 2008-01-16 09:38:46 | | **UPDATE #3**: Just some notes from the press conference that just concluded. One of the first things Sparano said was, "We have a lot of work to do." What an understatement that is. Like Cam believed, Sparano said numerous times that character people are important. He believes, "discipline is critical," as he said. He also said that he will work his players hard, but have a good relationship with them. He claims to have had good relationships with his players in the past, which is a far cry from Cam last season. Tony also stressed, "Our players will be in outstanding shape." Beware, Mr. Shelton (among others). That's all for now. [end update #3] **UPDATE #2**: It's official. According to the team's official site, Tony Sparano has been hired as the next Miami Dolphins head coach. The press conference has been scheduled for noon eastern time and can be seen LIVE on miamidolphins.com. Also, the Sun-Sentinel is reporting that the deal is worth $11 million over 4 years. [end update #2] **UPDATE**: Well the Palm Beach Post is now reporting the hiring as fact: The Dolphins have hired Tony Sparano to be their next head coach, a source said Wednesday morning. Sparano, the Dallas Cowboys assistant head coach, arrived in South Florida Tuesday night for his second interview, and had dinner with Dolphins owner Wayne Huizenga and General Manager Jeff Ireland, who said he hoped to have an announcement within the next couple of days. It came much sooner than that. As soon as I hear any official word or know of a press conference, I'll pass along the info. [end update] There are reports rolling in now that the Dolphins and Tony Sparano have reached an agreement for Sparano to become the next Miami Dolphins head coach. The first report to roll in was from Jay Glazer: FOX Sports has learned that the Dolphins have tabbed Dallas assistant coach Tony Sparano as their new head coach, replacing the fired Cam Cameron. | | Buddy Cianci Hired By Fifteen Beacon Hotel | | 2007-05-22 22:04:00 | | Ah, I remember the days when Vincent “Buddy” Cianci, excellent role model for impressionable youth that he was, came to my college campus each spring and sang songs while strumming away on a guitar. While I’ll always remember him for that, most remember the former mayor of Providence, RI as the sort of man that pisses on “colleagues” accused of sleeping with his wife. But what does this have to do with travel?
When Cianci emerges from federal prison later this month after serving approximately five years on racketeering charges, he’s going to be employed at Boston’s Fifteen Beacon Hotel. Apparently he’s going to work in the sales and marketing department, which I’m sure he’ll do quite well at considering his political roots. All I can say is this: If Cianci calls and asks for your support, you’d be smart to take him up on his offer.
