| | Our Homeschool 2008-2009! | | 2008-07-24 20:22:03 | | I have been having so much fun shopping for the materials I need for our new school year. I have to admit, there is a lot of benefit to taking a break--the biggest one being that the boys have started saying, "Is it time to do school again yet?" Ah--music to a homeschool mom's ears!I have been so blessed to have found almost everything on my list used either at Homeschool Classifieds, Vegsource, or eBay. I will have to order only 2, maybe 3 things new. We will be continuing to use our Heart of Dakota curriculum which we really really love along with our Horizons math, Explode the Code, and CLP readers. In addition to our basic curriculum, I will be adding these things to our homeschool or library:I hope to start having a quiet time/devotions in the morning where everyone has their own personal devotions time. I really want to start developing this habit in my boys--maybe because I really need to develop it in myself again! I want to have a shor... | | By: Homekeeping Heart | | |
| | Homeschool burnout | | 2008-03-23 18:57:48 | | When a parent takes on the responsibility of educating his or her child, homeschool burnout is one of the more common issues they have to deal with. There are many reasons that lead to this burnout: an illness, a new baby, added responsibility, change in routine etc.The symptoms of burnout vary from lack of patience to overeating and crying without any apparent reasons. Surprisingly, a burnout need not be such a bad thing. It is a wake-up call - an indicator that things are not going well and th... | | By: Journal and Resource | | |

| My Favorite Homeschool Products | | 2008-02-22 11:59:53 | | Scroll down for a chance to win a copy of the book, Stepping Heavenward.I'm finally participating in the Heart of the Matter Friday meme and the theme for today is your favorite homeschool products! My first favorite product is my Tanglewood Corebook. It's a lesson planner made specifically for the Charlotte Mason approach. In addition to its beautiful lesson plan pages, it contains curricula for habit training and health and safety. It also includes a guide for creating a workable curriculum schedule for the year, six-week report pages, and many more goodies in the appendices. You get all this in an ebook format for $5.25.I print out the lesson plan pages and put them in page protectors. Our lesson plans are VERY loose. I write them with a wet erase marker, then when I need to change something, I erase it and start over. I love having it has a reverence and to give a bit of order to our homeschool day. My other favorite products are from... | | By: Homekeeping Heart | | |

| Homeschool Open House | | 2007-08-03 02:06:42 | | Thank you, Tiany, for inviting me to participate in the Homeschool Open House. Go here to learn more. My name is Jennifer and I've been married to Kevin for six years. He is in the Air Force and we live in Montana. We have four cute little guys so far. Justin is 5, David is 3, Isaiah will be 2 next month, and baby Zachary is 6 weeks old. This is our second official year of homeschooling, although like many others have said, we like to think of homeschooling beginning at birth. All the children are included in our school at school time. I, myself was homeschooled as well. I prefer to have school in the morning and finish before lunch, although I find it difficult to get up early enough in the morning. All our guys are little, so a rest time is required in the afternoons, which makes it harder to have school then. Here is our curriculum for this year:Bible, History, Geography, Science, and Read-AloudsSonlight Core CPhonics and Reading... | | By: Homekeeping Heart | | |
