Akaash Maharaj - Blog: Honour and Damp-Eyed Idealism
    2008-02-14 06:30:00
I may be something of a damp-eyed idealist, but I sincerely believe that in the long term, the person whose impulse is to do good is the person most likely to do well. More importantly, I am conscious that when we take to the field under the banner of UNICEF Team Canada, my teammates and I ride first and foremost for the honour of my country and the cause of the world's children, not for medals, ribbons, or other baubles.

Lemon Meringue Tart in Honour of my Mom!

Being the smug teenager I was, I laughed at her, thinking it would never happen and was almost embarrassed that she was even going to try it! Well try it she did and succeed did she ever! It was amazing. It became her party piece and she made it many times after that and then one day just as fast as it came, it was gone. I'd say the la

    National honour for flower man
    2007-01-30 07:00:00
Stuff Albert Peattie's gardening success continues to bloom. The Temuka man was recently awarded the New Zealand National Chrysanthemum Society's bronze Ken Kitney medal for his dedication and contribution to the chrysanthemum community. The award is not given out often, according to Mr Peattie. "They don't give them out readily and there's only one other person I know of that has received the award in the past few years." He had been very humbled by the award. "It was a big surprise for me and I was very honoured and proud."
