| Leave your mark for humanity at Operation Immortality | | 2008-08-22 11:02:57 | | As human beings, the last thing we’d imagine is humanity coming to an end. These sort of things happen in Hollywood. Not real life. But what if it does happen for real? What sort of legacy would you want to leave behind? If humans have the technology for space-travel, what is the single most important [...] | | By: Momma's Diary | | |
| | Interview with Reb Zalman | on Mystic Experience and Mysticism for a New Humanity | | 2008-08-19 14:30:04 | | Father of the Neo-Hasidic Jewish Renewal movement, Reb Zalman Scachter-Shalomi is widely considered one of the world's foremost authorities on Hasidism and Jewish mysticism, a leading spiritual elder of our time and recognized as a pioneer in ecumenical dialogue. This interview with Reb Zalman was conducted early August 2008.I opened up the interview by sharing how all the major enlightened beings, for example Moses, Buddha, Jesus or Muhammad, peace be upon them all, each has gone through initial mystical experiences at their time of enlightenment breakthrough. Sometime such experiences are perceived as outside experience (Burning Bush for Moses, mystical encounter with Archangel Garbriel for Prophet Muhammad) and sometime as inner experience (such as Buddha's awakening or receiving Quranic revelation in a lucid state for Muhammad). So we find mystical experiences very much at the heart of all tradition and thats where they started from. Now after encountering these inner experiences, a | | By: Inspirations and Creative Thoughts | | |

| MANNY RAMIREZ A Jay-Walker. OH, THE HUMANITY! | | 2008-07-23 05:34:00 | | What's next for Manny? This is from the Seattle Times, just this morning..."Seems that Boston slugger Manny Ramirez was leaving the ballpark, with headphones on trying to look inconspicuous and quickly get away from the crowds still leaving the stadium. He started to cross South Royal Brougham Way, against the signals of a traffic cop who was directing pedestrians. The police officer demanded that Ramirez open his wallet and show identification. He warned him that he could face a $500 fine and possible arrest for disobeying a police officer. It became clear to those watching that the policeman had no idea who Ramirez was. He didn't ask for an autograph or anything, but did ask Ramirez if he'd attended the game. After the brief lecture, and no argument from Ramirez, the police officer let him go with no further trouble."Peter here, and I'm fairly certain, officer, that Manny DID attend the game. Manny was guilty of only trying to get out of the stadium area after the game...that's the o | | By: Peter's Red Sox Forever | | |
| | dear humanity, i want to beat you with my tripod | | 2008-07-21 21:14:00 | | Life has been such a whirlwind lately. It must be piss Arabelle Off Week or something because I am not feelin' the love. Mr. Puggy is modeling my feelings.I won't burden you with the gory details but the summary of my horrible week include: beaten cat, run-over dog, chasing people that threw rocks at my house, threatening pedophiles, and not enough skirts. The highlights of the week are: sitting in a literal mountain of vintage clothes, sitting in a claw foot tub in a vintage slip and tiara, free clothes and jewelry, and not being dead. This has pretty much been the uniform over the last few days. It's funny how my cheapest jeans ($3) fit me better than my designer denim. Have you ever had a case like that?Click to enlarge. I would not wear this in public, before you ask. These pieces and the pieces from the outfit above it are pretty much what I wear religiously, on rotation--along with my flouncy skirt and my bandage one. This is what I wore today. | | humanity- isn't very humane | | 2008-07-08 06:00:01 | | it is a daily struggle for me to continue to have any faith in humanity at all. the only reason i have any left is because of people typing away at keyboards around the world connecting with each other; is because there are heroes in small numbers fighting for what is right simply because it's the right thing to do; is because amongst all of the greedy, evil powermongers or go-with-the-flow cowards out there- people of integrity do exist. i don't know if it will be enough to actually do any good in time to save the planet, but until then, i will stand beside my fellow bloggers and the brave people who stand up to tyranny and corruption and greed- simply because it's the right thing to do.http://www.relaywave.com/pingRelayWave.php

| | Fire Marshal Discovers Arson–And Humanity | | 2008-07-04 00:00:00 | | The job of a fire marshal in the United States is often like the job of a private investigator: thankless and fascinating. But a private investigator’s role is usually punitive: figure out who’s scamming the insurance company, say, or where the ex-convict who broke parole ran to. | | It's a promise I made for the good of the kids -- and the good of humanity. | | 2008-06-10 11:49:00 | | Vacation time! In nine days, I'm on vacation. I haven't been on vacation since 2005. It took this long to (a) convince Sweetie to get back on an airplane, and (b) save up the money to go on another vacation. Things can get expensive when you're on the road, you know. First of all, you've got the travel time. We're traveling this year with two teenagers and two toddlers. If I hope to survive in an airport and on an airplane with that level of energy/pending boredom, I need a bunch of DVDs and something to play them on... plus headphones. With the kids watching their movies and suitably distracted from punching each other, that leaves some time for Sweetie to relax a bit on the plane. Getting Sweetie to relax is paramount; she doesn't like flying at all. I've found the best way is a selection of magazines bought at a discount. That way, she can be distracted by celebrity gossip, or read up on beauty secrets and fashion tips, or just get caught up on entertainment topics, and th | | By: Under The Eyes Of God | | |

| | Threads of Humanity.... | | 2008-05-31 08:45:09 | | The Human Condition is so fragile on many levels.... So many people have been denied Basic Care and Respect.... I am stirred by it...worried by it....and moved by it. There are pieces of each of us that at this point are tattered, battered and worn to shreds. Some people are more tattered than others...and some have pieces that need more care and more mending . I have seen it in people's eyes, and the lines etched on their faces. I have heard it in their voices. I have seen hands shaking tremously as groceries or meds are purchased ....And in other folks I have seen something else in their eyes. Eyes that are dim, like a painful emptiness and yet others it is painfully sharp with heavyladen angst......As Long as we all still reach out to each other...and touch each other....with words...eye contact and some piece of kindness....then just maybe the Threads of Humanity will hold us together....just maybe....And we can find a way to make sure no one hurts alone, and that no one is denied | | By: The Peace Tree | | |

Dr. Hussain writes:... Haiti where poverty and starvation are forcing the poor and the destitute to eat mud cookies called terre made from yellow clay, salt, and vegetable oil.Haiti is not, by any stretch of imagination, the only country in the world where people are starving. Poverty and hunger are worldwide phenomena and these numbers attest to that assertion. Each year more than 80 million people die worldwide because they cannot afford to stay alive. More than 1 billion people, 1 in every 6 persons, live on less than $1 a day and a great majority of them go to bed hungry and get up hungry. There are reasons and causes galore for poverty and being lazy or unmotivated are not | | By: Inspirations and Creative Thoughts
| | The Evolution of Humanity | | 2008-02-13 05:12:09 | |
Just about everything evolves over the course of time. These changes usually happen at a slow pace and are more visible as you look further back in time. Over the last 50 years we have seen technology evolve at an incredible pace. It could be said that we have seen more advances over this period than throughout the history of man. The same is true for our accumulation of knowledge. Why is it that these things have broken the pattern of slow and subtle changes? It is because we have worked very hard to bring these advances. The evolution of humanity has followed the pattern of slow and subtle changes. It certainly has improved over time, but what if we could force humanity to evolve at the same pace as technology has over the last 50 years? With effort and determination we could drastically increase the levels of kindness and compassion. As a matter of fact, we could utilize all the advances of technology and knowledge. These things put us in a great posi | | By: Miscellaneous Reflexions

But do men understand it?" - GurdjieffMystic George Ivanovich Gurdjieff, (b.1872, d.Oct.29, 1949) while traveling extensively in central asia, turkey, north africa such as egypt, middle east in search of sacred knowledge, met and received teachings from the sufis, specially the naqshbandi sufi order. Gurdjieff synthesized many of the essential teaching of sufi thoughts. How to awaken humanity through conscious remembrance of their essence, awareness of heart and remembrance is some of the teachings of the sufis which Gurdjieff taught to the west in the earlier parts of 1900, at a time when sufi ideas were totally unheard of.I quote selectively from one of Gurdjieff's article, Awakened Consciousness:"Let us take some event in the life of humanity. He urged authorities to step up negotiations for a "progressive and mutually agreed dismantling of existing nuclear weapons." "Humanity today is unfortunately experiencing great division and sharp conflicts which cast dark shadows on its future," Benedict said in his annual message to world leaders for the Roman Catholic Church's World Day of Peace on Jan. 1. He said "the danger of an increase in the number of countries possessing nuclear weapons causes well-founded apprehension in every responsible person." He did not name specific countries, although he lamented civil wars in Africa and said the Middle East "is still a theater of conflict and violence" affecting neighboring nations and regions.Cardinal Renato Martino, who presented the pope's message at a new | | By: PhreQuency Ent.

| | News Round-Up: Oil, Biofuel, World Hunger and Crimes Against Humanity. | | 2007-11-06 11:22:00 | | The world has 800 million people suffering from hunger. About 100-150 million of those receive regular food aid. Up to now, we could say "the world is producing enough food to feed everyone, so it is just a matter of re-dividing the food!". This might no longer be true. In less than 10 years, the price for a barrel of crude oil went from less than US$20 to almost US$100. Soaring fossil fuel prices, and the push for non-fossil fuel -either out of environmental concerns, or to create less dependency on foreign oil- had many governments stimulate farmers to switch from food crops to biofuel crops. As if they really had to stimulate farmers: the growing demand made biofuel a real profitable cash crop. So, more farmers growing biofuel, means less farmers growing food crops. More land in use for biofuel, less land for food crops. The dilemma shows even more drastically in developing countries. As an example, the government of Swaziland announced this week that it would be allocating thousands | | By: The Road to the Horizon | | |

The American Council for Kosovo says this about the book:At a time when the Western powers -- foremost among them the United States -- prepare what they hope will be an endgame for their predetermined solution to the Serbian question, now comes a searing ray of truth that cuts through the fog of lies in which Kosovo has been shrouded. While Western policymakers (the U.S., EU, UN, NATO, OSCE, etc.) delude themselves that they are buying the goodwill of the Muslim world by the sacrifice of a small Christian community in Kosovo, the perpetrators know this is yet another step toward Islamic dominance of all Europe. And he accepts it not in any selected dimension but in all its dimensions."When one read the life of Prophet Muhammad, upon him be peace, one can see the same truth. All dimension of life come into full manifestation in the life of Muhammad. What role he didn't had to take up? He didn't depend on others for his life, didn't sit there in a cave, temple or jungle hoping that his companions will feed him. He was a faithful merchant and earning person in his earlier days.He was a complete family man tending to the mundane needs of his family.
