In a recent article the Chicago Tribune reported on BPs, (British Petroleum), exemption from several environmental laws at their Refinery in Whiting, Indiana. The exemptions refer to the laws which cap the amounts of toxins allowed to be dumped into the lake. The exemptions come in part due to the expansion planned by BP to utilize Canadian crude oil, which requires more extensive processing due to its heavy consistency.
