3 Simple Insomnia Tips That Will Leave You Sleeping Like A Baby!
    2008-05-16 11:56:00
Nobody likes to lie awake at night and wonder why they can't sleep. Insomnia is something that most people will face at least once in his or her lifetime. Having said that, here are some insomnia tips to help you fight through your sleeplessness and get back to those great dreams that you've been missing: Insomnia Tip #1: Visit your doctor. Often insomnia is actually a symptom of another problem. By visiting your doctor you can rule out any physical causes of your inability to sleep. If the insomnia is being caused by a physical problem, your doctor can help you fix it. Insomnia Tip #2: Keep a regular bedtime schedule. Some people are able to keep a varied schedule while others are not. If you find that you are doing "insomnia" searches on your computer on a regular basis, you might want to consider scheduling a regular "bedtime" for yourself. In addition to going to bed at the same time every night, develop your own "getting ready for bed ritual" and make sure that you do it at the sa

The Little-Known Secrets To Insomnia Cures
    2008-05-15 09:04:00
Nobody likes to lose sleep. The worst part about losing sleep is not the personality changes or the tiredness you feel the next day. The worst part is that the worry over losing sleep is probably what is keeping you awake! Everybody suffers from insomnia or other sleep disorder at some point and everybody who suffers from it wants to know if there is an insomnia cure. The problem with this thinking is that insomnia itself is not a disease but a symptom. The only real insomnia cure is to figure out why you can't sleep and then deal with that. Of course there are some "insomnia cures" you could try in the meantime: Take a warm bath. The hot water will relax your muscles. It's easier to fall asleep when your muscles are relaxed. The hot water will also help to easy muscle strains and could help relieve any muscle pain you've been having. Stay away from caffeine, alcohol and tobacco. These are all stimulants and even though you might feel like you've built up a tolerance for them, by cutti

Facts about Insomnia: Information To Help You Rest
    2008-04-12 22:23:00
Sources of information and advice about insomnia are seemingly everywhere: magazines, websites, and TV health showss. Some of the information is valid, but individual cases are characterized by particular elements that are a vital part of the general picture and must be considered. Following are some of the most important facts about insomnia that may help you improve night sleep. First and foremost, if you've been prescribed sleeping pills, do not take them for more than three weeks. Such drugs are only a temporary solution for the problem; they treat only the symptom of sleeplessness through a chemical reaction. The root cause of the problem needs to be addressed in order to make a lasting change. Sleeping pills are highly addictive and in some cases will worsen insomnia. Certain chemicals in the body are responsible for good or bad sleep. Normally, a human growth hormone is secreted during the night that ensures high quality sleep. As we age, there is a decrease in the levels of

    Beat Insomnia
    2008-03-20 21:04:04
More than a third of Brits have trouble sleeping at least some of the time, and around 1 in 10 have chronic, unrelenting insomnia. Find out how to minimise the risks and get a good night's sleep. A massive 97 per cent of British professionals are missing out on their recommended eight hours of sleep a night, according to a recent study. Yet sleep is vital for healthy functioning and for your brain's logic and decision making abilities. Not getting enough z's is also known to increase your risk of being overweight and developing high blood pressure, heart disease and Type 2 diabetes. Several studies have shown that the less you sleep, the greater your body mass index will be, and the more weight you'll gain over time. Plus, regular sleep deprivation makes you twice as likely to be obese. This is because a lack of sleep causes hormonal changes that increase appetite, change your metabolism and mess with your glucose tolerance. "Sleep is obviously something we require to function. It's

    Insomnia and Apologies
    2008-02-11 05:42:44
For some reason, i have not been able to sleep. It's driving me crazy. I wake up at 5:30, or 5, or this morning at 4:10 and cannot fall back asleep. And after about 30-40 minutes of lying there unable to go back to sleep I get up and figure that the quiet hours at the computer will probably be more productive than lying in bed. By the end of the day I am exhausted though. It's a cycle I can't seem to break lately.I have found that apologizing to Salinda actually has been very helpful in mending our relationship. Sometimes it is as simple as saying "I'm sorry I didn't handle that better" if we've had a conflict. It seems to soften her a bit and allow for us to continue our dialogue.Yesterday seemed to be teenage girl drama day. Salinda and I had an "altercation" in the morning, and Sadie and I in the evening. Salinda is overwhelmed with how busy she is this week. Several tests and wanting to earn extra money this week have her convinced her life is too stressful for her to surv

    Warning: Anxiety Can Cause Insomnia
    2007-09-29 01:23:00
photo by MontanaRavenLately at my house we have been going to bed earlier because getting up earlier in the cold, dark mornings of fall seems so impossible. Tonight we turned the lights off at 10:00 which is pretty early, especially for a Friday night! However my mind was tired and I LOVE sleeping so I don't mind. The last little while I have been having problems falling asleep. This has never been the case before. I used to be able to fall asleep anywhere at any time of day. Lately, when I lay down to fall asleep, I feel like I have restless leg syndrome, only its in my legs and my neck and my arms, etc. I can't get comfortable and after 30 seconds in one position I desperately have to rotate because my body is just itching to move. Previously this behavior would continue for a couple hours until sleep finally came over me, but its a horrible battle. Tonight, I got so tired of it I just got out of bed and decided to do something more productive until I got really tired.I was doing research on insomnia and found this on eMedicinehealth.com,"Insomnia may result from either psychological or physical causes. The most common psychological problems include anxiety, stress, and depression. In fact, insomnia may be an indicator of depression. Many people will have insomnia during the acute phases of a mental illness."I also came across this at sleepdisordersguide.com:"The undisputed number one cause of insomnia is excessive stress, anxiety, and depression. Almost everyone has experienced transient insomnia the night before a job interview, big presentation, wedding, or other significant personal event. Transient insomnia usually passes after the stress-inducing event has been overcome. Chronic insomnia is more serious because it can affect an individual for an extended period of time. Persistent stress at work or home can lead to chronic insomnia. Anxiety and depressive disorders are another major source for chronic insomnia."Its so ironic that I love sleeping so much, bu

But while it is good to note down or push through with whatever is in anyone’s mind, the matter of worrying if it is indeed worth writing down or would be a hit in Clarkson’s case is something she has to deal with when it comes to newly composed songs for potential release. incoherency due to insomnia
    2007-07-15 08:34:03
Everyone’s asleep. Everything’s so quiet. Still. There’s only the hum of the computer and the sound of me typing. Everything is absolutely still. Insomnia has taken over me again. I should be in bed, but I’m not. I’m not tired, I’m still energetic and awake as I was hours ago when Delia was over. There’s a fire in my brain that craves movement– something to do! I’m trying to burn out that energy, that little ball that keeps me up late at night. Writing, drawing, flipping through magazines… Everything I write at the moment seems shaky and off. Everything I draw seems sloppy and lopsided. Magazines don’t hold my interest, they make my finger itch and I want to go shopping. I know all of that is nothing that a good night sleep can’t fix. So I need to sleep. And thus, I will.  ♡

According to a study conducted by Dag Neckelmann, MD, PhD, of Haukeland University Hospital in Bergen, Norway collected from 25,130 adults, chronic insomia can lead to the development of anxiety disorders and depressions. Though on a personal note, this seems like common sense as chronic insomia affects one's concentrations and perhaps leads to the development of hallucinations.

Research says: To cure insomnia, don’t go to bed
    2007-05-29 16:32:37
Now, they are telling us, insomniacs should not even try getting sleep. It may sound like an advice that absolutely makes no sense, at first. But if you understand the rationale behind it, it doesn’t seem farfetched. The whole report is over here and the research was spearheaded by Glasgow Sleep Centre at Glasgow University. The center admits hundreds of patients with sleep disorders yearly. In relation to the research on insomnia, the director, Professor Colin Espie said: “These kind of effects [not forcing sleep] are at least as good or better than a sleeping pill when it is working at its best.” He explained the programme worked by helping people allow sleep to occur naturally again. Professor Espie said:  “What a good sleeper is often doing is resisting sleep and allowing it to be something that overtakes them, whereas bad sleepers try to evoke sleep, which encourages it to go away.” So, the next time you find no relief in other methods that suppos

The fact that I could not sleep last night led me to browsing the internet for something insomnia related and I ended up reading this article from Eons which discusses the disorder in depth. What causes insomnia can be any of the follow below: Excessive worrying Illness — including painful arthritis, congestive heart failure that causes difficulty in breathing, and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), among others. Medications — for example, some drugs for hypertension and decongestants have stimulating effects; there are many others. Consuming caffeine within six hours of bedtime. Lack of physical activity and/or exposure to natural outdoor light. Sleep apnea, an obstruction of the airway, which can cause you to stop breathing repeatedly during the night. This forces the brain to keep waking you up to restart your breathing. Restless legs syndrome (RLS) — which can make your legs so tingly that you feel an uncontrollable urge to move them. INSOMNIA AND ANXIETYInsomnia is a problem that confronts everyone from time to time. For some it is a completely agonizing experience requiring heavy reliance on sedatives. Pressure on the acupuncture sites can be beneficial. The sites are wrist-hand point 3 fig. 75, wrist-hand point 5 fig. 76 and face point 4 fig 77.Since the wrist-hand points lie in close proximity to each other both points can be pressed simultaneously. Use the thumb on the wrist-hand point 5 and the index finger or middle finger on the wrist-hand point 3. also the same wrist-hand sites can be pressed on each side simultaneously. Apply hard pressure for several minutes, then relax. When you are weary of pressure the hand points try the face point 4 bilaterally which you will recognize as one the migraine points.Diligence and frequent application wile you are trying to sleep will often allow you to drift off. Remember, at that time you have nothing else to do. Press the points and count sheep, and before you know it
