    There hasn’t been enough said about Jack Kerouac. Unfortunately there’s not much I can say that would be added to what needs to be said. But I will say this. He is one of the most precious of American writers (that I can think of). Without Kerouac I probably would have never known how beautiful narrative writing can be. Also, without Kerouac, I would have never discovered the freedom to write. Kerouac does more for me than simply motivate, inspire and cause great wonder. It was after reading The Dharma Bums that I started writing my novel Chad. Kerouac reminds me that the act of creating should be personal and if people don’t like it - whether it’s considered “art” or not - well, then that’s fine, too. I know, that doesn’t make much sense.
