    Fashion Trend: Cropped Jackets
    2008-05-08 13:40:18
This season's shorter jacket styles have taken the runway by storm. Available in a variety of fabrics from dressy brocades to casual cottons, short jackets are cropped at the natural waist or higher. These sweet little toppers often have three-quarter length sleeves, so they're perfect for the layered look. They also come in collarless versions or with decorative Peter Pan-style collars.Conspicuous Mini Trench JacketA shimmering metallic croc print adds tonal dimension to a structured jacket with a cute, cropped length and hints of classic trench styling.Three-quarter sleeves with belt and button detail at cuffs.Fold-over collar with covered button detail.Raised front and back yoke seaming.Cotton/polyester/metallic fibers.Covered-button front closure.Back inverted pleat.Bold patterns add interest to an otherwise basic look, while the new neutrals are subtle and sophisticated. Canes Sweep Yellow Jackets
    2008-04-13 20:33:00
Tough weekend to be a Canes fan. Yes, Miami dominated the 10th ranked Georgia Tech team, topping them 10-5, 15-5, and 9-3. However, the victories come with a heavy heart as the series initially had to be postponed due to the premature death of GT pitcher Michael Hutts. You never want to play teams facing this sort of situation. Either they'll rally around their fallen teammate and beat you, or their heads will understandably not be in the game and the victory means little. There are more important things sometimes than W's and L's. My condolences go out to the GT family.Game 1 saw the return of freshman Chris Hernandez's excellent form, as the lefty pitched 6 innings and allowed 3 earned runs. Not quite the dominating stuff of earlier this season, but certainly an improvement from his last outing. His outstanding arm was backed up by the Canes bats that had disappeared earlier this week. Five different players managed to collect 3 hits each.Game 2 was played later that day and produced

Platinum dirt VIN Jackets are perfect for auto snobs
    2008-04-13 15:01:38
You haven’t gotten rid of your old car in 15 years? It must be difficult for all those rugged-retro connoisseurs of Cars. Designer Dustin Page probably fits into the same category as he was driven into a mission in order to find the remains in auto junkyards. The Lover of Cadillacs and Lincolns from the 60’s and 70’s used old leathers to create brand-new retro-cut distressed leather jackets and gathered hood ornaments to act as zipper pulls. Lined with salvaged leather and fabrics from vintage car seats, the Platinum Dirt VIN Jackets are the best souvenirs of your ol’ Love for just $1,200.

    Affordable genuine mens leather jackets
    2008-04-01 21:04:24
My husband and I like leather jackets. We both have leather jackets, only they are quite old now, we bought those years ago. It might be time to shop for some new ones. See, I didn't get to choose my leather jacket due to that my husband bought it way before I came to join him in his homeland as a welcome gift. I thought that was so nice of him, as he also bought other stuff for a surprise gift.

    moncler down jackets and coats
    2007-12-17 19:58:00
From a ski and recreation sports clothing line in the 70s, Moncler became the uniform and the most sought-after, not to mention most expensive item, of the young Italian fashion craze of the 80s.The first paninari (that's how the people that followed this specific fashion were called) started appearing around 1983, in Milan, and they were all about wearing only the best (and most expensive) brands on the market.Soon enough all the kids in Italy wanted, amongst many other brands, Timberland Boots, Levi's Jeans, and Moncler Down Jackets.Of course, I couldn't resist the call of fashion, and at 14 years old I was able to convince my father to buy me a pair of Timberland shoes that were so expensive (at least for the small town I was from) that all my neighbors knew about them. But I never got my hands on a Moncler down jacket. It was just way too expensive! I bought the Levi's, the Naj-Oleari, the Best Company... but the Moncler escaped me.And when in the late 80s, the paninari started disappearing, the Moncler's glory dwindled down with them. But such a good product could never die completely, and now in 2007 Moncler is sailing upwind once again.I visited their website "Moncler" and found many interesting jackets and coats, but with prices starting around $900 I still can't afford them!.

    Game 27: Blue Jackets 5, Avalanche 4
    2007-12-06 05:31:15
Last night's game was a travesty, that's all there is to it. Luckily, Pittsburgh saved the Avalanche the indignity of being tied with Edmonton in the Northwest standings by beating the Oilers 4-2.  I called Sidney Crosby (3 assists) and thanked him. The Avs have now lost eight of their last twelve games.  The wheels are officially starting to fall off, if the bus hasn't already lost at least one already.   This should seem like an "oh well, shit happens" kind of game, but it's so much more.  It's indicative of everything that's going wrong with a team that seemed like such a legitimate contender for the division title just a couple of months ago. And here's the "no shit" comment of the year: "A brutal ending," Quenneville said after the Avs' third-period collapse led to a 5-4 loss to Columbus. "A tough one to swallow." Your continued existence behind the Colorado bench is getting pretty tough to swallow, Q. The next Avalanche game is at home tomor

Game 27: Avalanche At Blue Jackets, Preview And Open Thread
    2007-12-05 15:50:01
I've said it before, but really, I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.  The Avs are just three games above .500, just two points ahead of Edmonton, and mired in lowly third place in the Northwest Division.  To make matters even more brain-melting, the Central Division is just as (if not more) competitive as the Northwest this season, and the Blue Jackets have a winning record.   What the hell is going on? Luckily there are a number of factors about this game that make me feel better.  For one, the Avs have always owned the Blue Jackets, and rarely if ever lose to them (even on the road!).  For two, Peter Budaj is back in net and Marek Svatos will return to the lineup after a brief groin-related sidelining. Also good news is that Ian Laperriere is back and will likely start tonight.  Lappy being gone for so long has really hurt the Avalanche, and now that Wyatt Smith is gone, the checking line of Ben Guite, Lappy and Cody McCormick can wreak some real

    Game 5: Avalanche 5, Blue Jackets 1
    2007-10-14 20:53:03
photo courtesy of Will Powers/AP I don't believe Joe Sakic is really 38 years old. Despite getting a slow start to the season, the Colorado Avalanche captain took off in a big way against the Columbus Blue Jackets, scoring a hat trick and leading his team to a 5-1 victory at the Pepsi Center in Denver. For the first time this season, the top offensive line led by Super Joe was able to score at even strength.  They did it twice against the Jackets, in fact.  The second line, which continues to consist of Milan Hejduk and Ryan Smyth on the wings with Paul Stastny in the center, also had another good outing.  Hejduk scored at even strength at 9:34 in the second period.   The Avalanche power play scored twice, once by Sakic and another by Hejduk, with Smyth, Stastny, John-Michael Liles and The Duke earning assists. For the first time the Avalanche penalty kill was perfect, stopping five Blue Jackets power plays.  And as far as defense in general, the Avs were strong.  Despite the loss of Jordan Leopold to a hip injury (here we go again), the Colorado blue line played very well, led by standout performances by Scott Hannan, Liles and newly-crowned Mile High Hockey favorite Jeff Finger.  Finger continues to make his mark with physical play along the boards and a hard-nosed style that the Avalanche have lacked for several seasons. The Blue Jackets were looking for a good performance from their young goalie Pascal Leclaire, who had two shutouts in as many games prior to facing the Avalanche last night.  Unfortunately for him, Colorado wasn't going to let him stop the onslaught. The goalie who did have a great night was Peter Budaj, who again showed everyone that he should be the starting goaltender for his team by stopping 24 of 25 shots (the lone goal was a fluke deflection off teammate Kurt Sauer's skate).  He showed perfect positioning throughout the game and had nearly perfect rebound control.  The player most frustrated by Budaj had to be Rick Nash, who had several excellent scoring chances and just couldn't get the biscuit in the basket despite his best efforts.  Budaj had his number all night. The Avalanche continues to play very well at home, winning all three games played at the Pepsi Center by a margin of 16-7.  They play Calgary at home on Tuesday but then depart on a four-game road trip that includes three divisional rivals---Calgary again, Edmonton and the so-far undefeated Minnesota Wild.  In the two road games the team has played so far, the Avalanche is 0-2 with a scoring deficit of 1-8.  Obviously, that will have to improve. Stars of the Game:  Joe Sakic  Milan Hejduk  John-Michael Liles

Game 5: Blue Jackets At Avalanche, Preview And Open Thread
    2007-10-13 22:21:16
After losing badly to the St. Louis Blues last night, the Avalanche seek to score revenge on the Central Division by continuing their long dominance over Columbus.  The Avs are 21-1-1 all-time against the Blue Jackets.   The Jackets are playing well, having won two of their first three games.  Pascal Leclaire, their young goalie, has been strong in net this season, and will look to shut down an Avalanche offense that has scored 11 goals in two home games already this year.  Good luck to him. Paul Stastny continues his offensive miracle work for Colorado, having scored 9 points (5 goals) in four games.  He had the lone goal against the Blues last night.   Hopefully the Avalanche defense will remember which team they're playing for and let's hope Coach Q is done trying to defibrillate Jose Theodore's goaltending career.  If Peter Budaj doesn't start tonight's game, I will likely not watch at all. And when is Joe Sakic's line (any incarnation of it) going to score a goal at even strength?  What the hell? Hope to see everyone here tonight as I live blog the game.  Join in on the fun! ESPN preview.

Vyborny wants long-term deal with Blue Jackets
    2007-08-04 17:36:45
Aaron Portzline of The Columbus Dispatch reports that Columbus Blue Jackets forward David Vyborny would like to sign a multi-year contract extension with the club. rumormethisCopyright “I’ve talked to David and I’ve talked to his agent, Rich Winter,” general manager Scott Howson said. “David has expressed an interest in staying in Columbus for the long term. That was nice to hear.” Winter confirms Vyborny’s desire to remain with the Blue Jackets. “David has made a decision that he’d like to stay in Columbus as long as the Blue Jackets would like to have him,” Winter said. So, what type of term is Vyborny looking for? “At least one year, and no more than 10,” Winter joked. Don’t expect a signing anytime soon, though. Howson, the newly hired GM, says he needs some time to get a feel for his team and players before he commits to anything. It may not be until “the midpoint of this season” that

Bed Jackets Give Comfort Anytime Of The Day
    2007-08-01 15:44:00
By Gina I. RozinskiA bed jacket is a nostalgic piece of women's intimate apparel worn for over the last century. The bed jacket is a short comfortable robe that is loose fitting with feminine qualities. As a garment utilized for comfort and warmth, the bed jacket was commonly worn over one's bedclothes after retiring from the day and as so named, being an accessory while reading in bed or lounging within the home. This form of the bed jacket, typically associated with a "grandmother" image would have worn, has reinvented itself as an "everyday wear" jacket.Instead of wearing typical baggy, un-stylish sportswear or an old sweater, a diverse range of women have fallen in love with the versatility of this feminine, comfortable and stylish modern jacket. For example, the modern bed jacket can be worn as lightweight casual day wear that is versatile for everyday errands like shopping, and activities such as watching a movie or taking a walk. For maternity wear, it offers the mother-to-be

Roenick, Axelsson, Blue Jackets and their 2008-09 budget, Blue Jackets and UFAs, and the Red Wings
    2007-07-23 04:15:40
According to Kevin Paul Dupont of The Boston Globe, veteran forward Jeremy Roenick would be willing to accept the league minimum so he could play for the Boston Bruins next season. However, Bruins management are not interested. rumormethisCopyright Dupont also reports that the Minnesota Wild were keen on acquiring Bruins forward P.J. Axelsson. Once they picked up forward Petr Kalus for goalie Manny Fernandez, they lost interest in Axelsson. Michael Arace of The Columbus Dispatch reports that the Columbus Blue Jackets have set their payroll budget for next season at $40 million. Blue Jackets management believe the club needs to “at least break even to maintain the long-term health of the franchise.” Arace also reports that the Blue Jackets may very well be done exploring any signing of the remaining unrestricted free agents. Being on a budget and in the midst of re-building, it’s questionable how much any UFA addition would help improve the club’s place in

Blue Jackets set in goal, not looking to upgrade
    2007-07-15 15:59:13
Aaron Portzline of The Columbus Dispatch reports that the Columbus Blue Jackets have no interest in acquiring a goaltender. Blue Jackets GM Scott Howson tells Portzline “that he never engaged in trade talks” before or during the NHL draft when Tomas Vokoun, Vesa Toskala, and Manny Fernandez all switched teams via trade. And while Howson admits that he has received calls from player agents trying to peddle their (UFA) clients to Columbus, talks ended quickly. “We’ve had a couple of calls from agents wondering if we have interest in their clients,” Howson said. Howson wouldn’t budge. “We believe in the two goaltenders we have,” Howson said. “It’s just as simple as that.” So, it appears that the Blue Jackets will go into next season with Fredrik Norrena and Pascal Leclaire.

    Leather Motorcycle Jackets
    2007-07-10 14:26:00
By Jimmy SturoThe main aim of motorcycle riding gear is protecting the driver. Motorcycle protective clothing consists mainly of the helmet, the motorcycle jacket, leather trousers and boots.Motorcycle jackets are usually worn for their armor value, which prevents major injuries to the driver in the event of falls or accidents. The jacket was invented in 1946, and it was made famous by Marlon Brando in 'The Wild One.' The leather jacket protects a driver's torso and arms. The motorcycle leather jacket is different from the classic leather jacket, because it is used more as armor than a fashion statement. The motorcycle leather jacket protects the driver from cold, wind and abrasions. There are two major types of leather motorcycle protective outfits, the colorful single-piece ones predominantly seen on the race track, and the traditional jacket and trouser type. The leather trousers and jackets are generally metal-studded and are preferred by biker gangs.A common motorcycle leather j

Blue Jackets Can't Win, Won't Look Good While Losing
    2007-06-25 23:39:00
I have to admit something: I like the Columbus Blue Jackets. They're never any good, their "stars" never quite perform up to their abilities, and the general management---at least to date---has never really been competent. But they're an endearing bunch, and they try hard, and their fans love them. I don't live in Ohio but my cable provider carries Fox Sports Ohio, so I watch a lot of Jackets games each season. I have to admit they've grown on me.But while the team as a whole and the fans in general have become like friends to me, I have never been satisfied with how the Jackets looked on the ice, and the new RBK Edge uniforms for the team aren't really an improvement, either. The Columbus Blue Jackets have only been around since the 2000-01 season, so they don't have a long aesthetic history. What they do have isn't that impressive, either, so they can only really go up from here---unfortunately, it's more like they're treading water. From their inaugural season until 200
