| Lan Japanese Restaurant | | 2008-07-18 10:37:00 | | Jessie, Lon, and I arrived at Lan Japanese Restaurant Lan Japanese Restaurant first, all very hungry, so we had an appetizer while waiting for Olivia. None of us cared for the Home-made Prawn Dumplings. We didn't know they would have water chestnuts in them, and it so happens, all three of us hate water chestnuts. Aside, the shrimp were a bit over-cooked, the wrapper had dry spots, but luckily this was the only dish, we really didn't like.Olivia arrived just in time for the Crab Salad, which was truly inventive: using Uni as the binder to hold the fresh crab meat together, gently cupped by expertly sliced avocado, and sprinkled with a perky Japanese pepper. All four of us gave thumbs up.Next, we received an enticing glass plate with two pairings, and we proceeded to argue about which one was better. Clearly both were winners. Lon favored the Seared Tuna topped with Foie Gras and drizzled with honey. So tender, a world of flavors, so balanced, all was right in the world at that moment. | | By: FoodMayhem | | |

| Japanese Candlesticks And Foreign Exchange Trading | | 2008-07-03 12:49:44 | | Do you think of anything when I say the phrase, "Japanese candlesticks?" In fact, this has a lot to do with trading in foreign exchange.Candle charts (also called "Japanese candlesticks") were originally created in Japan several centuries ago so that rice could be traded. Today, thousands of traders use the same charting "system" to track price movement. Many people find that candle charts are easier to read than standard bar charts are, and therefore, they have become very popular. In fact, most Forex charts you see are in the format of Japanese candlesticks.Candle charts are made up from the opening and closing prices, as well as high and low prices. If a price opens lower than it closes (in other words rises during trading), a hollow candle is drawn on the chart (usually in white or green). If a price opens higher than it closes (in other words falls during trading) a filled candle is drawn, usually in red or black in color. Many online brokers today used the red and green color scheme | | By: Finance fantasy | | |

| Japanese Company Makes Water Powered Car | | 2008-06-17 15:04:00 | | It was a dream for all people to have a car which can run on water. Especially today, with these kind of gas prices. Well it's not a dream anymore.Japanese company Genepax claims to have invented a fuel cell system that uses water to obtain hydrogen. It has shown last week two devices, a 120 W fuel cell stack and a 300 W fuel cell system that powered a REVA based minicar. The little car can run at 80 km/h using only a litre of water, but any kind of water, even from the sea. - Continued after the jump...Gallery: Water Powered CarBut it is just a claim for now. Because critics claim that this is impossible because it contradicts the First Law of Thermodynamics, which states that “the increase in the internal energy of a system is equal to the amount of energy added by heating the system, minus the amount lost as a result of the work done by the system on its surroundings”. In other words, the energy that would be necessary to break the water molecules would be higher than wha | | By: Car Freaks Blog | | |

| JAPANESE 'CANNIBAL NERD' WHO PREYED ON CHILDREN EXECUTED IN TOKYO | | 2008-06-17 14:26:05 | | Tuesday, June 17, 2008By Leo LewisTOKYO — Japan’s most reviled serial killer – a “cannibal nerd” who preyed on primary-school girls and drank their blood – has been executed in Tokyo. The hanging of 45-year old Tsutomu Miyazaki brings to 13 the number of death-row inmates who have faced the gallows since last August: a pace that has provoked rising criticism of Japan’s new justice minister, Kunio Hatoyama. But even amid growing public discomfort in Japan over the continued use of the death penalty, the hanging of Miyazaki raised very little in the way of condemnation. His crimes may have taken place two decades ago, but the mere mention of Miyazaki’s name remains sickening for many Japanese. Unrepentant throughout his long run of trials and appeals, Miyazaki entered Japan’s public consciousness as one of the worst monsters the country had produced.A voracious sexual predator, he kidnapped girls aged between four and seven years old, molested and murdered them. The restaurant is nice and comfy inside but the menu price is expensive and small portion but their foods are great! I ordered their seaweed salad, noodle soup, rice and my husband did order a steak and I forgot what the name of that and my husband had a soup and their sushi roll and if I am not mistaken he ordered their specials today which worth $30 bucks and he ordered tea and just water for myself. We paid the whole meal without dessert $60 something and my husband told me after we ate our food, he still felt hungry and I guess, because their portion is somewhat small but well for me, it was enough than over served. | Japanese patient's 'tumour' turns out to be 25-year-old towel | | 2008-06-05 09:52:28 | | Wed Jun 4, 3:47 AM ETDoctors who carried out surgery on a Japanese man to remove a "tumour" had good news and bad news for him. He did not have cancer -- but the "growth" that had been causing him pain was in fact a 25-year-old surgical towel. The patient had been carrying the cloth since 1983, when surgeons at the Asahi General Hospital in Chiba prefecture near Tokyo left it in him after an operation to treat an ulcer, a spokesman for the hospital said. The man, now 49, went in to another hospital in late May after suffering abdominal pain. When examinations found what was believed to be an eight-centimetre (3.2-inch) tumour, he underwent the operation to remove it. It was only then that surgeons realised it was a towel."The towel was greenish blue although we are not sure about its original colour," the Asahi General Hospital spokesman said, adding it had been crumpled to the size of a softball.Asahi hospital officials visited the man and apologised, he said. The former patient has no pl | | By: angelite nurses | | |

| Checking out a Japanese IKEA | | 2008-05-02 09:59:00 | | We came back from our Golden Week road trip yesterday, but my Shinkansen back to Nagoya wasn’t scheduled until today, so we had some more time left to do something fun. IKEA has just opened a new store in Kobe (only the third store in Japan), and IKEA has always been my favorite furniture store, it’s colorful and cheap! I was happy to discover that this IKEA is selling the same products as they do at home (I actually found the entire set of bedroom furniture I selected 3 years ago on sale here too, and I still love it, I just wish I could have taken it to Japan with me.Yasu didn’t need anything, and I don’t want to increase my belongings just before I move house at the end of this month, so we weren’t going there to buy anything. Instead we thought it might be interesting to find out if our tastes for interior design match or totally clash, which will be helpful for when we move in together. | Victoria Beckham's Japanese Diet | | 2008-04-29 02:26:00 | | When it comes to putting the words "Victoria Beckham" and "diet" in the same sentence usually signals the beginning of a very long expose, riddled with rhetoric questions such as "does she really starve herself" or "I wonder if it's possible for any other woman out there to keep that thin". The fact is, it all becomes much less impressive and more down-to-earth the moment we are all aware of the fact that Victoria's weight is not the result of a crash diet or of a constant, self-punishing abstin | | By: Gadget Bin | | |

| 'Orange Dream' Japanese Maple | | 2008-04-28 05:34:01 | | Japanese MapleAcer palmatum 'Orange Dream'(AY-ser) (pahl-MAY-tum)This is a relatively new Japanese Maple cultivar. It is quite striking both when the foliage emerges and in the fall. Its foliage is a nice lime green during the summer. It grows to about 15 feet and has green bark. The bark is nice as it is a contrast to the foliage. I have noticed some variation in the emerging color. This one was particularly yellow with a pronounced red stripe on the end of the leaves but I have also seen specimens that emerge more orange. This was a nice group of Daffodils I saw yesterday. Their color kind of matched the ‘Orange Dream’. I was lucky to get about 10 or 12 good pictures yesterday. I don’t think I will have the camera out today as 1 to 2 inches of rain is expected here. We certainly need it, as everything was really getting dry. I have a couple of appointments and can finish my paperwork today. | | By: Digital Flower Pictures.com | | |

| Japanese Pieris 'Valley Valentine' | | 2008-04-04 06:42:04 | | Japanese PierisPieris japonica 'Valley Valentine'(pee-AIR-iss) (juh-PON-ih-kuh)Synonyms: Andromeda, Lily of the Valley Shrub, FetterbushRecently I posted a picture of Pieris jap. ‘Flamingo’ and I thought that was one of the ‘reddest’ cultivars but this ‘Valley Valentine’ blooming at the Estate actually seems a little darker. It is really pretty up against the white varieties. The Pieris collection, which has about 60 plants of about 25 different cultivars and species is always special when it comes into flower. I know that it is finally spring and it is really the first group of plants that blooms all together. There are a few Cornus mas blooming right now and the Forsythia is just starting to show some color. If you look around in Connecticut gardens you can usually see some Andromeda. They are very popular and one reason is they are deer resistant.Pieris is easy to grow and can take sun or a good deal of shade. It likes rich organic soil and a cool root zone.
