| The Case for Keyshawn...and some other news | | 2008-02-19 23:02:57 | | Before we get into Keyshawn Johnson, here are a couple of notes from around the league. First off, more players have gotten franchised. Jordan Gross was franchised by the Panthers, while the Colts used their tag on Dallas Clark. Also interesting to note, it's being reported that the Falcons are exploring trade possibilities involving CB DeAngelo Hall. New head coach Mike Smith is believed to want Hall on the team, but with a relatively low commitment to Hall financially, trading him isn't impossible. Rotoworld believes Hall could be had for just a late 1st round pick. So that makes me wonder if the Dolphins 2nd round pick (32nd overall) and an additional late rounder would be enough to entice Atlanta. Probably not, but it's nice to dream. If I'm Bill Parcells or Jeff Ireland, I'm making a phone call to Atlanta immediately to at least get an idea of how interested the Falcons are in trading him. At only 24 years of age, he's the kind of to... | | By: The Phinsider | | |
| | Keyshawn Johnson considering return; Dolphins a possibility | | 2008-02-19 13:14:46 | | We first heard the rumors about Keyshawn Johnson possibly returning to the NFL about 2 weeks ago when it was reported that Bill Parcells had reached out to Johnson and told him there's a spot in Miami for him if he so chooses. Now it seems Johnson is, indeed, considering a return to the NFL. Here's what Keyshawn told Yahoo! Sports: "I like challenges. The challenge of helping to turn a team around, to help get it to the next level, that gets my competitive fires burning. I have the itch, and right now I'm trying to decide how strong that itch is." Obviously, with Johnson having a great relationship with Parcells, and now with Johnson saying he likes the "challenge of helping turn a team around," it's easy to see why the Dolphins are likely suitors for Keyshawn. Yahoo's Michael Silver writes this about the Parcells/Johnson relationship: The two men speak frequently, though Johnson says they have not discussed his possible signing with the Dolphins in anything but an ab... | | By: The Phinsider | | |
| | Raiders Off the List for Keyshawn’s Services | | 2007-05-23 14:38:05 | | Knock one more team off the list of possible spots for Keyshawn Johnson, as reports say that the Oakland Raiders are not going to go after the 35-year-old wide receiver. InsideBayArea.com reports that Johnson, who was let go by the Panthers right after the draft, would be a bad fit for the team. The site explains that once Rich Snead is announced as a member of the Player Personnel Department, he will have his sights in a lot of places, but that going after Johnson is not going to happen.
The team re-signed leading wide out Ronald Curry this past offseason, and Jerry Porter will be featured as the teams flanker when the season opens. The team also has Doug Gabriel, who can play both the split end or the flanker spot. Another thing that may keep Johnson from Oakland is money, as he was recently quoted as saying: “I’m not playing for $750,000, $850,000, $1 million or $2.5 million,” Johnson said. “You can write that down.”
In other words, wherever Johnson end... | | By: NFL GridIron Gab | | |
