Is not the mere prospect of nuclear technology in the hands of a terror sponsoring state scary enough to warrant action? ... Let’s get something fundamentally clear, even if the reports are only half accurate ... " What we all suspected may have been confirmed last week. On September 6 2007, Israeli jets bombed a nuclear reactor being constructed by Syria with the aid of North Korea somewhere along the Euphrates river - a reactor possibly built for the production of Plutonium. Find below the official U.S. Government 11-minute video showing construction of the purported gas-cooled graphite-moderated reactor at al-Kibar in an isolated desert region in eastern Syria, "a video presentation that summarizes ... assessment of this Syrian covertreaction project and their efforts to cover up its existence".Online Videos by Veoh.comThose wanting to explore it further | | By: American Interests

| | Beware Hyundai: Nissan and Toyota entering South Korea by 2009 | | 2008-04-13 19:37:00 | | I immigrated to Canada 7 years ago with my parents from South Korea. During my years in South Korea, I clearly remember that import cars were second to scarce. I would regularly pass by residential parking lots labelled "No Import Cars". Patriotism, perhaps? 7 years later, the scenario is completely different. Import cars are rapidly becoming cheaper and alongside premium makes such as BMW and Mercedes-Benz, mainstream automakers like Honda and Ford have stepped onto the scene. The import plague is likely to continue as by 2009, Toyota and Nissan will be entering the South Korean market as well. In other words, it means the Japanese Big 3 has finally landed on Korean soil.Nissan Korea has announced its plans to commence sales in the coming October. The initial models at launch are the Altima, Rogue, and Murano. Toyota, the automaker holding the crown in the Land of the Rising Sun, is slated to enter the market by 2009 - with the Camry and RAV4. The South Korean government downplayed the missile launch, in their own not-so-veiled attempt at not provoking the North Koreans any further.North Korea’s attempt at attentionKim Jong-Il controls NK almost like a child would. Ever since the Soviet Union fell, he has resorted to provoking the U.S., South Korea, Japan, and China, in order to create divisions among the four so it can achieve its primary goal: regime survival. The promising nuclear deal appeared last year to signal the end to one of Kim’s regime’s strongest cards: the nuclear one. | | korea in ramen news | | 2008-03-12 01:19:47 | |
Korea seems to be having a lot of problems with ramen recently. On one hand, Korea Beat is reporting that some Korean schools are banning ramen in the fight against childhood obesity and malnutrition. But then again, the Chosun Ilbo Korean newspaper reported that people are panic-buying ramen in bulk because of rising prices. Just about every food product is suffering from higher prices, and ramen is no exception. Prices for flour and other ingredient have skyrocketed recently.
But still…is it really necessary to stockpile and/or ban instant ramen? What do you think?

| | McCain's Korea Scenario for Iraq | | 2007-12-20 10:40:03 | | Andrew Sullivan, following his endorsement of Ron Paul, has posted a few letters from dissenting readers. One of them makes the case for McCain, citing the Iraq war issue:"His [McCain's] goal is to leave Iraq with a functioning government and the ability to defend itself after the departure of American troops."'Winning' has been redefined in terms of how best to get out. The reader above cautions against a hasty withdrawal, insisting that we mustn't turn our back on Iraq until the government we have installed is working and proves viable. In my view this a fool's errand. In Iraq the Arab-Islamic identity and sectarian divides are so deeply embedded that the idea that a secular, Western-style democracy installed by an outside power widely viewed with suspicion will be able to function on its own anytime soon is very nearly laughable. Second, and more exciting to us, is the Korean market launch of the Genesis (BH) sedan. The 2008 Hyundai Genesis may not be groundbreaking for the rest of the auto industry, but it's got us on the edge of our seats nonetheless. The 2008 Hyundai Genesis is designed with the Tau V8 underhood driving the proper wheels with 300 horsepower, and it's said that, this 2008 Hyundai Genesis might come in second only to the Pontiac G8 in terms of hotly anticipated V8 RWD sedans. The styling of 2008 Hyundai Genesis, while derivative, is handsome, and we see hints of Infiniti and BMW all over the flanks of the Genesis. The day of product release of 2008 Hyundai Genesis on Korean is just in a couple months away, we deeply hope to see it landing on US soon.More News of Automotive Industry:+ Britain’s Diesel Price Struck New Record+ BMW Recalls 29,250 Sedans, SUVs to Fix Engine Stalls+ Mercedes-Benz Launch Diesel-Fueled E320 Bluetec Sedan in California+ Next-Generation Mercedes-Benz Including Triangular Sunroofs as F700 Concept?+ 2008 Nissan 350Z Coupe and Roadster Italian Price Announcement+ Nissan Motor Announced More Infiniti Stores To Open in China+ 2007 Sydney Motor Show: Ford Mondeo XR5 http://del.icio.us/rss/horisly | | By: Autos Space | | |

German players Kerstin Garefrekes, Renate Lingor and Annike Krahn gave headaches for the Koreans as they scored Germany's 3 goals for the match. Arguably the best matched teams in the tournament, Germany and Korea both fought hard and the score was not a total reflection of the match. The German Soccer Players will move on and continue to the next stage of the knock-out semifinals of the 2007 Women's Soccer World Cup in China. | | | The links between North Korea and Syria | | 2007-09-18 19:09:00 | | Syria possesses the biggest missile arsenal and the largest stockpile of chemical weapons in the Middle East, built up over the last two decades with arms bought from North Korea. North Korea has become critical to Syria’s plans to enhance and upgrade its weapons. Syria’s liquid fuelled Scud-C missiles depend on “essential foreign aid and assistance, primarily from North Korean entities,” said the CIA in a report to the US Congress in 2004.Both North Korea and Syria are secret police states and among the hardest intelligence targets to crack... But earlier this year, foreign diplomats who follow North Korean affairs took note of an increase in diplomatic and military visits between the two. They received reports of Syrian passengers on flights from Beijing to Pyongyang, almost the only air route into the country. They also picked up observations of Middle Eastern businessmen from sources who watch the trains from North Korea to the industrial cities of northeast China. The Scud- | | By: THE NEW BABYLON TIMES

Instead their rival for the game, by virtue of a more superior score quotient, arranged that quarterfinals match against the Germans for themselves on Saturday. Two goals by Swedish player Charlotta Schelin won the game for the Swedes but the lone goal for North Korea by player Ri Un-Suk gave them enough to move on to the next round which will be a knock-out match against the German women's soccer team.Click here for the complete details of the match between Sweden and North KoreaOlympics Qualifiers Women's Soccer | | By: Beijing 2008 Olympics Blog

| | | Hezbollah - Not North Korea | | 2007-09-14 01:59:57 | | Israel strike on Syria? Yup.North Korea supplying Syria with nuclear technology? Nope.Fox news, along with right-wing extremists (notably John Bolton) are publishing stories and op-eds claiming they have (unidentified) ‘sources’ who tell them North Korea may be supplying Syria with nuclear technology. We find that very unlikely.First, North Korea is just beginning to disclose its nuclear facilities to the U.S. and the U.N, for very large sums of money, oil, and other basic necessities. If North Korea is selling nuclear technology to Syria, Syria would be paying very well. North Korea would not need anything from the U.S. After the North Korean nuclear deal earlier this year, most analysts suspected (for good reason) that North Korea badly needed the aid they were receiving in the deal. North Korea wouldn’t be needing that if they were exporting nuclear know-how.Second, New deals with the DPRK are being announced every other week it feels like. Kim Jong-Il is giving the impression that he actually wants to shutdown his nuclear program. North Korea has decided to allow American, Russian, and United Nations inspectors to visit the Yongbyon plant.Third, there are better explanations. It is more likely that Israel was either testing Syria’s defense capabilities, or destroying Syrian arms headed towards Hezbollah. Our bet is on the second. No matter what the reason was – nukes, defense testing, or to destroy arms – Stat and I are back Israel’s maneuvers. A nuclear Syria would be nearly as disastrous as a nuclear Iran. While we would be back the operation less if it was only a test of Syrian defenses, Syria is still a very dangerous, terrorist-supplying dictatorship. And if our guess is correct, and the strike was to destroy weapons headed towards Hezbollah or terrorists in Iraq, we here are happy that the Israelis took the matter in to their own hands.

| | AN AMERICAN WARNING - Syria and North Korea – A Nuclear Threat? | | 2007-09-13 18:03:00 | | Intelligence officials for the United States have found some evidence showing that North Korea is helping Syria to develop a nuclear weapons program.
Syrians of course denied the claim on Thursday.
“The details of the claims are vague, but one source told FOX News in late August that the North Koreans had sold the Syrians a nuclear facility, most likely related to uranium enrichment. Enriched uranium is necessary both for nuclear power and nuclear weapons uses. The United States accuses Syria of assisting terrorist groups including Hezbollah.”(1)
Sources say that officials had spoken of North Korea sending nuclear scientists, engineers, and other personnel with expertise to Syria.
"I've noticed more and more people [in the intelligence community] talking about people being sent over [from North Korea to Syria]," one high-ranking former National Security Council official said.(1)

An Outline!
I THINK IT'S ONLY JUST BEGUN!
In light of the topic and the many aspects of this topic that I can talk about, I’m going to try and keep this to the point. After evaluating many different aspects of our “terrorist” problem… I thought I might share the fact that I think it’s going to get worse before it gets better.
THE NORTH KOREAN PROBLEM
Lately, you might have heard about North Korea’s sudden change of heart when it comes to shutting down their nuclear ambitions. They were so hard pressed to make sure this continued. And then out of no-where, they decide to change their minds. First of all, I’m not buying it.
July 6, 2007, Reuters reported that North Korea has tested at least three short-range missiles over the past month, in what a U.S. expert has said were successful launches of an advanced weapon, adding to regional fears after it tested its first nuclear weapon last year.
