Plastic Surgery Alert – Laser Lipolysis Devices Advance:
    2008-05-05 07:12:00
The plastic surgery profession is constantly looking out for non-invasive alternatives to ease the pain and discomfort that are generally experienced in a cosmetic operation. The summer especially, is a time when research for these procedures peak. The main reason is sun exposure which can be a deterrent to the recovery period of most cosmetic surgery procedures. Lipotherme™, a 980 nm laser lipolysis tool has been developed by Osyris with a good aim in mind, namely, as a less painful alternative to a liposuction surgery Los Angeles. The heat of the laser liquefies fat and tightens the skin in the chin, calf, knees, lower back, lower abdomen and the region behind the arms. Upon closer observation you may notice that this device treats fat in those parts of the body that are difficult to reach. While traditional liposuction procedures Los Angeles may involve more extensive fat removal, this laser alternative is better in small doses and in treating localized areas of fat.

Lasik Laser - Get Yourself A New Vision.
    2008-04-27 06:39:00
LASIK is a medical term used as an acronym for Laser Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis. This technology called LASIK uses laser beam known by the name of ‘excimer’ to rematerialize the eye lens and thus correcting any vision deformity. A flap is created by picking up the corneal layer and the laser beam is then focused towards the desired area. The beam’s energy evaporates particles from the affected area and thus reshapes it.LASIK can correct refractory vision problems such as hyperopia (farsightedness), myopia (nearsightedness) and astigmatism. But it proves fruitless in case of age related vision deformities such as presbyopia, where LASIK cannot work due to the thickening of eye lens and weakening of eye muscles.[ lasik , patients , surgery ]Much new advancements are coming in the LASIK procedures, like the complete bladeless surgery, where the flap in the cornea is also created by using the LASIK laser beam. Blade tools such as microkeratome which is used in traditional LASIK

Lasik Or Lasek - Which Laser Eye Surgery Procedure Is Right For Me?
    2008-04-15 05:48:00
What is the difference in the two main laser eye surgery procedures? There are basically two laser refractive procedures to correct myopia (short sight), hyperopia (long sight) and astigmatism: 1) LASIK and 2) LASEK. [You might also have come across the PRK laser procedure. You can consider LASEK and PRK as basically the same procedure for most discussions - they are both forms of ’surface’ laser eye surgery with pretty much identical results].LASIK is a two stage procedure. Firstly a superficial flap is created in the top part of the cornea (the clear window at the front of the eye). The vision correction laser is then used to reshape the inner part of the cornea and so eliminate the need for glasses. The first flap creation stage used to be carried out with a mechanical blade device, but modern clinics are now using a special so called 'femtosecond' laser to prepare the flap in a safer and more accurate way. There will be grittiness for 3-4 hours only and vision is usually fairly

    2008-04-15 05:27:43
An affiliate marketer may have all the things needed for him to be able to succeed in a business such as affiliate marketing. He may have the necessary drive, diligence and perseverance to be able to understand how the system works. He may have all the tools necessary in maintaining the business, including a really unique and interesting website which could earn him a fortune if only the whole world could see it. However, all these would prove useless if he does not know how to drive traffic to his website. His business would sink into oblivion together with all the sales, fortune and dreams that he might have realized if he only knew how to do this particular task.Getting people who matter to see one’s website is a difficult undertaking if he tries to consider the fact that there are rivals everywhere waiting to pin him down. The immensity of the internet as well as the affiliate marketing world has given birth to the fierce competition between affiliate marketers, each of whom

    LASIK Laser Eye Surgery Explained!
    2008-04-09 06:02:00
Over the last number of years, the world has witnessed amazing advances in the field of medicine, especially with the advent of LASIK laser eye surgery. This revolutionary procedure has both given hope and excited those who experience problems with their eyesight. But what exactly is LASIK eye surgery? What happens during LASIK laser surgery is that the lasers correct refractive errors in the cornea. The laser perfectly controls the tearing of the corneal tissue, thereby reshaping the cornea and changing its focus. LASIK surgery follows a simple two step process:1. A slight, thin flap of tissue is created on the outside layer of the eye or cornea. This flap encourages healing and provides comfort on the way to better vision.[ lasik , patients , surgery ]2. The surgeon folds open the flap on the inner cornea to correct the eyesight. Once this is done, the flap is closed to its original position and sealed with stitches. The word LASIK refers to Laser-Assisted In Sutu Keratomieusis, a proce

A Brief History of Laser Eye Surgery.
    2008-03-22 07:02:00
Radial KeratotomyThe history of laser eye surgery begins a little over 100 years ago when Lans, a Dutch Ophthalmology professor, explained the basic principles of keratotomy in 1898. A Japanese doctor named Sato did some pioneering trials with corneal incisions during the 1930s; however, many of his patients suffered from late corneal decomposition after the treatment. In the 1970s Dr. Fyodorov of Russia put radial keratotomy into practice by treating a case of eye trauma. When a boy broke his glasses and suffered corneal lacerations, Fyodorov used this technique to treat the boy. The boy's vision returned better than before the injury. This success inspired Fyodorov to do some research on past efforts in this field. [ lasik , lasek , lasic ]His findings caught the attention of American ophthalmologist Dr. Leo Bores in 1978. He brought the technology to the United States after visiting Dr. Fyodorov in Russia. Since then, over 2 million people have received radial keratotomy in the Unit

What Is Important When Choosing A Laser Eye Surgery Clinic?
    2008-03-16 06:03:00
It is quite confusing for people looking at where to go for their laser eye surgery treatment. Especially so in London, UK where there are many laser eye clinics to choose from.In other cities you can usually find one or more of the big three chains: Optical Express, Ultralase and Optimax and these centres are probably doing about 80% of all laser eye surgery in the UK, simply because of their wide geographical footprint and so easy access for many people.[ lasik , lasek , lasic ]Most people really are not sure what to look for in a laser eye surgery provider. They don't understand the difference between different laser systems and they don't have easy access to the true performance or knowledge about individual surgeons. So most people default to the 'look and feel' of the website and clinic if and when they attend for a consultation. Most of the brochures are pretty interchangeable, all making the same claims about experience, technology etc. You could swap the company name and not re

    fraxel laser treatment
    2008-03-13 22:53:00
As mentioned earlier, Fraxel laser treatment is one of the most welcome treatments for anti-aging in Hollywood celebrities. Now we are going more deep on digging what exactly is Fraxel laser. The Fraxel laser treatment, or in short form FLT is a revolutionary method to recover the signs of aging. It is actually a non-surgical method to repair the wrinkles and scars, to improve texture, tone, elasticity, and even to minimize pore size. Generally, you could apply this treatment on your face, chest, neck, hands, almost your whole body.During the treatment, Faxel laser procedure affects the patient’s skin surface by producing thousands of tiny microscopic wounds which penetrate deep into the dermis. These microthermal zones are separated by area of unaffected tissue. And, the spared tissue between treatment zones promotes rapid healing of the treated area while stimulating collagen production. Thus, FLT results approach improvements obtained with CO2 laser resurfacing back. For time bein

Laser Technology Options for LASIK Surgery.
    2008-02-14 05:59:00
Although VISX lasers are the most commonly used technology among ophthalmologists for LASIK procedures, they are not the only laser system in use, nor necessarily the best. This article compares the specifications and certifications of lasers used by ophthalmologists.VISX Star 4VISX Star 4 is the fourth Excimer laser from VISX approved for use in LASIK corrective vision surgery. With the addition of the CustomVue treatment using Wavefront technology, VISX Star 4 is among the most accurate surgical lasers in use today. Wavefront technology is VISX's diagnostic tool for accurately measuring the shape of the corneas. Using Fourier transform algorithms, the Wavefront system creates a very accurate model of the cornea and the reshaping necessary for complete vision correction. According to VISX, over 94% of the population needing vision correction for hyperopia (farsightedness) or myopia (nearsightedness) can get completely accurate vision correction with Wavefront-guided VISX Star 4 laser

In LASIK Laser surgery, Laser beam which are man made waves, are used in here as a vision correction tool. Laser was actually meant for making computer chips but its application in ophthalmologic industry was soon discovered by Dr. Stephen Trokel. It is a condensed beam of ultraviolet light which is focused on the affected eye area where the abnormality lies. It works by reshaping the corneal surface.[ lasik , lasek , lasic ]LASIK eye surgery proves fruitful in correcting vision problems such as hyperopia (farsightedness), myopia (nearsightedness) and astigmatism. Eye Braces Instead of Laser Eye Surgery?
    2008-02-08 06:13:00
Are you nearsighted, farsighted? Before your give up your glasses for contact lenses or laser eye surgery, check out the promises of eye braces. Eye braces promise to correct your vision without surgery - while you sleep.A long time ago, back in the 1960's, two California doctors when getting feedback from their patients who wore contact lenses, kept hearing the same type of story over and over again. Many times their patients would leave their home, drive to work and then halfway through the day notice that they were not wearing their contact lenses. And they were seeing perfectly well. It appeared that the constant wearing of the contact caused a gradual reshaping of their cornea, improving their ability to see. This chance discovery eventually led to experimentations and studies on shaping the eyes using contact lenses.[ lasik , lasek , lasic ]Corrective eye braces or CRT (Corneal Refractive Therapy) lenses as they are formally known, are hard contact lenses that act much like a ret

    CONFOCAL LASER SCANNING MICROSCOPY
    2008-01-22 04:55:00
Confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM or LSCM) is a technique for obtaining high-resolution optical images. The key feature of confocal microscopy is its ability to produce in-focus images of thick specimens, a process known as optical sectioning. Images are acquired point-by-point and reconstructed with a computer, allowing three-dimensional reconstructions of topologically-complex objects.DESCRIPTIONIn a confocal laser scanning microscope, a laser beam passes through a light source aperture and then is focused by an objective lens into a small (ideally diffraction limited) focal volume within a fluorescent specimen. A mixture of emitted fluorescent light as well as reflected laser light from the illuminated spot is then recollected by the objective lens. A beam splitter separates the light mixture by allowing only the laser light to pass through and reflecting the fluorescent light into the detection apparatus. After passing a pinhole, the fluorescent light is detected by a photod

Each candidate for lasik surgery has dissimilar requirements depending on the age and the problem he is suffering from. During the surgery, the flap of the eye is folded and then with the help of microkeratme, a highly sophisticated tool, an artificial flap is created. This flutter is then folded back to apply laser to cornea beneath it. After the laser treatment, the flap is unfolded backside to the normal placement. After a candidate is sure to go for lasik treatment, next step is the collection of lasik centre. The ce

Laser Eye Surgery - Is It Worth Looking Into.
    2008-01-14 03:29:00
LASIK is a surgical procedure intended to reduce a person's dependency on glasses or contact lenses. The goal of this Web site is to provide objective information to the public about LASIK surgery. If you’re near-sighted or far-sighted, you may need glasses in order to see clearly. If you wear contact lenses, there is the daily hassle of putting them in every morning and taking them out every night. Technological advances are making these partial solutions to vision impairment obsolete. One of the most innovative methods of dealing with eye problems today is LASIK Eye Surgery. But what is LASIK and how do you know if you are a good candidate for the surgery?[ lasik , lasek , lasic ]Short for Laser-Assisted in Situ Keratomileusis, the procedure involves peeling back a small section from the top of the cornea. A focused laser will be used to reshape the cornea and eliminate any tissue that may be the root cause of the eye problem. What is PRK?PRK (photorefractive keratectomy) is a surface refractive procedure in which the epithelium (surface layer of the cornea) is removed using the excimer laser, rotary brush or with the aid of 20% alcohol. The excimer laser is then used to re-shape the cornea to produce the desired correction. At the completion a contact lens or an eye patch is applied.Your physician will also ask you for a medical history, and may also give you specific instructions in preparing for surgery. If you wear contact lenses, you will need to stop wearing them for a specified period of time before your initial consultation or examination. Your doctor will also explain the kind of anesthesia required and the surgical facility used. Most patients are pleased with the outcome of their surgeries; however, LASIK eye surgery is not guaranteed to restore perfect eyesight. There is a small risk that distortions from the procedure, such as blurred or hazy vision, will be permanent. On rare occasions, results of the surgery are worse than before. While laser eye s

Laser blepharoplasty is more efficient in soft tissue surgery and in some case use of laser is more effective than some standard techniques. The laser acts as three instruments when used properly, a cutting tool used for incision, cautery and a dissection device. Due to this the total operating time reduced. Mitsubishi unveils Laser HDTV
    2008-01-10 18:08:00
It's not everyday, or every year for that matter, that new HDTV technology launches. There are, in fact, only two up and coming challengers to the LCD / plasma / DLP / LCoS establishment (OLED and Laser), and as such, we've been following their progress to commercialization rather closely (catch up with pre-CES Laser news and technology in our Laser HDTV Update).Mitsubishi will be the first to commercialize Laser HDTV technology, and at a special unveiling party at the top of the Palms hotel, just offered the press the first look at three 65-inch prototypes. The displays are rear-projection and are consequently about as deep as similarly sized DLP displays (we'd guess around 9-inches). Where they differ dramatically from DLP, however, is brightness and contrast. The prototypes were by far the brightest displays we've yet seen, and colors were extremely vibrant. Blacks were exceedingly dark, though we got the feeling there was a degree of texture somehow lost in the darkest areas, evidenced by the lack of detail on clothing in clips from Sin City that were part of the demo loops. Regardless, we were impressed. Mitsubishi executives focused on the fact that lasers are the most pure form of light, but wouldn't give us any hard specifications on contrast ratio. We did manage to get a promise of retail release sometime in 2008, and comment that pricing would be equivalent to flat panel displays of the same size, which means around $5k to $7k. That's a far cry from previous comments from Novalux (designer of the RGB lasers in the displays) that the technology would cost only half as much as alternate HDTV technologies. Mitsubishi is apparently banking on the high end for the initial launch of Laser HDTV, though it'll be interesting to see what traction the company can gain in a market that is increasingly favoring hang on the wall flat panels. [Via IGN]Well is far from what they told us before, but we will see this 2008 which one will be the one to be the best. I'

Easy Guide To LASIK and Laser Eye Surgery.
    2008-01-04 02:43:00
If you have been wondering what LASIK is or what laser eye surgery is and what the cost of the surgery is, the following information may be of help to you. Basically LASIK constitutes the combining of two distinct processes: 1) creating a corneal flap, and 2) sculpting the cornea below the flap with a laser. LASIK may treat both myopia and hyperopia with or without astigmatism. Patients are treated and cared for from over 87 nations. Although the excimer laser had been in use for several years earlier, the development of LASIK is usually credited to Ioannis Pallikaris from Greece about 1991. Prior to 1999, all LASIK was performed off-label, meaning the Food and Drug Administration didn't okay its practice. This next-generation LASIK addresses fundamental vision problems that previously comprised imperceptible and untreatable conditions. [ lasik , lasek , lasic ]In the U.S. exclusively, laser surgery is performed upon over a million patients each year, and it's presently the most popular refractive surgical procedure obtainable. If you're interested in laser sight correction, weigh what surgery could mean to you. And selecting the proper LASIK surgeon makes up a critical part of any eye surgical process. Your operating surgeon should be accessible to resolve your surgery queries well before the operation and after the procedure as well. The surgical process is worthy for anyone who's miserable wearing eyeglasses or contact lenses and has eliminated any other solution to the problem. The surgical process is most suitable for hearty patients who are at least eighteen years old. The surgery could now also be an alternative for presbyopia correction; the surgery may correct one eye for distance vision and the opposite eye for close vision in a procedure called Monovision. At the vision correction centers, surgery starts after the patient is comfortable with numbing anesthetic eye drops. The surgical procedure itself is usually painless or just about pain-free, and re
