| Legendary Creature - Creator Stan Winston passes away. | | 2008-06-18 04:58:11 | | We here at the Down in Front News Department usually try to keep our posts about specific projects rather than the personal lives of the people in them. However, every once in a while something happens that's big enough to warrant a break from the usual. A few days ago Stan Winston passed away at the age of 62, ending a seven year battle with Myeloma. While some of the more casual movie goers may not know who Stan was, his creations are some of the greatest ever put on film. You may recognize his work from Terminator, The Alien series, The Predator films, Jurassic Park 2, and most recently Iron Man, where he created the main effect (Monster/Dinosaur/Suit) for each of these films and several others. Bungie reports in their weekly update that the Halo 3 Legendary Map Pack (due April 15th) comes with more than just three new maps priced at 800 Microsoft Points (that's US$10 / €9.60 / £6.80 / CAN$12.40 / AU$13.20). To quote: “While the Legendary Map Pack doesn't feature a map that you can build from scratch a la Foundry it does have a pretty unique series of Forge objects and some new knicks and knacks for Legendary purchasers to tool around with. The biggest new things are the Forge filters, these are forge objects that change the camera settings to create a variety of effects.” Outside of the default Basic setting, you’ll get these six filters: Gloomy, Juicy, Old Timey, Pen & Ink, Nova, and the Colorblind effect shown in the screenshot above. “I had a dream. In compliance with the commendable work done, Microsoft and Bungie expect the release of “Halo 3″ downloadable content on April 15. The game freaks will receive three multi-player maps to add to their delight. Accordingly, they have a lot to offer. So, we are here with the new maps named Ghost Town, Avalanche2, and Blackout. The titles are, in themselves, so very self conveying. Aren't they? The first one i.e. Ghost Town is a battle scratched muddle of slender passageways, while Avalanche2 is a rave review to Sidewinder featuring heaps of vehicles.
