    Lindsay Lohan’s Leopard Ankle Gloves
    2008-07-14 14:38:36
Okay, so we are probably all in agreeance that nobody does a crappy trend like Lindsay Lohan. Case in point leggings, more specifically her new leggings line which was inspired by Marilyn Monroe (would she have ever worn leggings anyway?). It’s not that we’re haggling Lindsay. We love her style. It’s cool and a little different [...]

Installing RMagick on Leopard is quite a painful process, well, the gem is not the problem, the dependencies are, but lucky me I came across Solomon White’s post. I don’t like Fink or Ports very much, so Solomon’s little script saved me a lot of time and headache, thanks for that! It looks like some hosts are not [...]

At 8,586 meters, Mt. Kanchenjunga is the world’s third highest mountain, and only 10-20 meters behind K2 in Pakistan for second place. Spending additional time in the shadow of the Himalaya was a big reason for my decision to enter India via Darjeeling. On my second morning, I awoke around 5:30am, saw blue skies [...]

Install hidden screen savers in Leopard
    2008-02-12 07:27:13
You may already know that some of the screen savers in Mac OS X are Quartz Compositions. The RSS Visualizer, Arabesque and Spectrum were all made with Quartz Composer, which is included with the Developer Tools. While those ones are automatically included as screen savers, there is actually a whole folder full of other compositions hidden in the system files. These files simply need to be dragged onto the Screen Saver section of System Preferences to install them.To find these hidden screen savers, go to Macintosh HD, and navigate to /System/Library/Compositions. In here there are almost 90 Quartz Composition files. They aren't specifically made to be screen savers (it's actually a collection of iChat effects, slideshow transitions, image effects and iTunes visualizers) but some of them work just fine. When you find one you like, open up System Preferences and go to the Screen Saver section. Now just drag the file you have chosen onto the screen saver preview on the right. I have found

    Leopard Outsells Tiger
    2007-12-19 05:52:00
When comparing the first full month of sales of Apple Mac OS 10.5 "Leopard" (November 2007) to the first full month of sales for Mac OS 10.4 "Tiger" (May 2005), dollar volume for Leopard was up 32.8 percent and unit volume up 20.5 percent, NPD Group Inc said in a statement. The new version of Apple's OS X software costs $129 for a single user and $199 for a "family pack" that can be installed on as many as five computers in a single household.New features include a file back-up feature called "Time Machine," improvements to e-mail and instant messaging, and the ability to preview documents or files without starting up a separate program, as well as quick access to other computers on a home or an office network. While the increases in dollar and unit volume can partially be attributed to going on sale during November -- a key month for consumer shopping -- and the growth in the number of Apple retail stores, NPD said the figures show that Apple has found the right formula for rolling out

Leopard Gives GSOD for Windows' BSOD
    2007-12-08 06:35:00
Computer users are suffering from a rainbow of problems. Beyond the well-known "blue screen of death" that's long afflicted Microsoft Windows, reports emerged earlier this week that Vista has a tendency to display a purple variant. Now, Apple Leopard users say their systems have taken to randomly flashing the color green.A poster to Apple's support forum named "Matthew Hickey1" recently reported that his Leopard-based PowerBook displays the green flashes whenever he tries to close applications. "No, I haven't been drinking or taking drugs," he emphasized.Numerous follow-up posts indicate that the problem isn't unique to Hickey's machine. Other users of Leopard, officially known as Mac OS X 10.5, say they've experienced the weird green flashes. Apple support forum member "bob812" likens them to "a strobing effect."Read more at IW

Terminal Commands for Hidden Settings in Leopard
    2007-11-26 08:09:02
Back in March I did a tip listing 15 Terminal Commands for Hidden Mac OS X Settings. Since Leopard has been released, there are a whole load of new ones so I thought I'd do another list.In general, these will only work with Leopard. I have slipped in a few that will work with Tiger, but you should check out the old list for commands that will definitely work.If you don't already know, here are some quick instructions of how to use them: You'll find Terminal in the Utilities folder within the Applications folder. To carry out any of the following commands you will need to copy/paste or type in the line of text then hit enter. Most of the commands change settings that can't be done through the application or system preferences. For the most part, applications will need restarting before changes take place. For the Dock and the Finder, it isn't obvious how to do this. The easiest way is to type a second command into the Terminal afterwards. Type "killall Dock" followed by return for all the Spaces, Stacks and Dock commands. "killall Finder" followed by return for all the Finder related ones.Spacesdefaults write com.apple.dock workspaces-edge-delay -float 0.5Changes the delay when dragging windows off the edge of the screen to other spaces. Default value is 0.75.defaults write com.apple.dock workspaces-wrap-arrows -boolean NODisables the wrap-around when using Control-Arrow keys to changes Spaces. To enable again, repeat with YES at the end.Stacksdefaults write com.apple.dock persistent-others -array-add '{ "tile-data" = { "list-type" = 1; }; "tile-type" = "recents-tile"; }'Creates a Recent Applications stack in your Dock, that you can change to display other recent items. To remove it, use the command defaults delete com.apple.dock persistent-others but be warned, this will remove all your stacks.defaults write com.apple.dock mouse-over-hilte-stack -boolean YESAdds a Mouse Over gradient to items in your stacks. To disable, repeat with NO at the end.Dockdefaults w

    Mac OS X Leopard FAQ

What are the minimum system requirements?Processor: G4 867 MHz, any G5, any Intel-based MacRAM: 512 MB for client, 1 GB for ServerDisk: 9 GB free disk spaceDVD drive for installationWill G4's slower than 867 MHz run Leopard? We have reports of Leopard being successfully installed on slower G4's, but performance of a few features (notably Time Machine) isn't great.Does Photoshop require an update to run on Leopard? Not recent versions. Adobe Photoshop CS3 apparently works fine in testing (as does Photoshop CS2). We did some simple editing with Photoshop CS (8). Photoshop 7 is reported not to run in Leopard.Does Leopard let iPhone sync without being connected to a Mac?No, iPhone still must be connected via a USB cable. Are Apple's iLife or iWork applications included? No. Leopard does include iTunes (which is also available as a free download from Apple), but it does not include iLife (iPhoto, iMovie, iDVD, GarageBand) or iWork (Keynote, Numbers, Pages).faq

Apple Inc. Gains Market Share! MacBook and Leopard Popular!
    2007-10-22 18:15:20
Shareholders of Apple Inc. are in for a treat! Apple’s market share for personal computers is surging at an all time high! Computer industry analysts forecast that AAPL would move into third place in the United States behind Hewlett-Packard and Dell after it reports product shipments in the fiscal fourth quarter (part of its earnings announcement). On October 26, 2007, Friday, Apple Inc. will debut its Leopard operating system, which integrates a range of features that have both analysts and users going ga-ga over it. Apple’s CEO Steve Jobs believes that the Leopard will bring about a schedule of product upgrades, which could continue for as long as a decade! As you all know, AAPL has put out major releases of its OS on the average of one per year. Leopard, which offers more than 300 new features, is the sixth major upgrade that Apple Inc. has made to the Mac OS X since the operating system was launched in 2001. Such product pacing has allowed it to outshine Microsoft Corporation (MSFT), which took five to seven years to debut Windows Vista after launching Windows XP. Despite the long wait, Vista still failed to excite customers both on the enterprise and personal computing levels. Even MSFT’s plans to release an update for its Vista in the first quarter of 2008 and to offer a service pack for Windows XP in the first half of the year didn’t help boost Vista’s popularity. And by 2010, the year that Microsoft is set to release its next OS, i.e., Windows 7, Apple would have already debut two novel versions of its OS! Thus, translating to more market share for the Mac against the dangerously declining share of the PC! It doesn’t take a genius to determine what this means in the long run! Apple Inc.’s pricing strategy for the Leopard is also worth noting. Amidst the multiple editions of Vista (different features at different prices), Apple has set a single price for its Leopard, i.e., $129. No home edition, no pro version, no ultimate set, whatsoever! And get this! The $129 price tag on the Leopard for single user and the $199 package for a family pack (up to 5 in a household) is way below that of the Ultimate edition of Vista, which sells for $250! I remember reading the views of some analysts who said that the Leopard will only have an indirect effect on Macintosh sales and Apple Inc.’s financial performance. Hey guys! Guess what? Leopard will add $240 million to Apple’s next quarter, which is almost double the $125 million that the company realized from Tiger during its initial quarter (Piper Jaffray & Co.'s Gene Munster). AAPL is forecast (Gartner) to grow by more than 37% based on expected shipments of 1,338,000 computers (8.1% share of the US market, up by 2 percentage points from previous year figures). Now, contrast that with the 4.7% demand for new PCs (third quarter), and this is even below the projected 6.7%! Tsk. Apple Inc. has significantly outpaced its rivals in the United States, particularly in the shift towards portable computers. Laptop technology has improved by a thousand percent in the last 10 years. Indeed, notebooks now are true desktop replacements. How much do I truly believe this? Well, all my computers at home are laptops. Here’s an interesting thought. Is it a coincidence that 2007 is the first year that notebook computers have made up more than 50% of computer sales in the US and that two-thirds of Apple machines sold in the country were laptops? Top that off with AAPL’s share of home PC revenue, which increased in the last four quarters. Wait! This still doesn’t even include the huge surge in demand for Apple Inc.’s MacBook and MacBook Pro this holiday season! According to results of Solutions Research Group’s survey, Apple-branded technology products are in the top five overall with one-in-six considering purchase! Why the surge in popularity? In their respective categories, Apple Inc.’s MacBook and MacBook Pro are much better products than the others! Pound for pound! Plain and simple! An exciting feature that always comes to mind is "Boot Camp" that lets users install and utilize Microsoft's Windows on Macs! A Genius demonstrated this feature to me at the Power Mac Center, 2nd Level Greenbelt 3, Ayala Center, Makati City, Philippines. I was totally wowed by it! Where in the world can you find such a computer? This and the 300 plus new features of Leopard have got me wishing for a 13-inch MacBook this Christmas, too! All of these developments and more translate to a very happy holiday season for Steve Jobs, Apple Inc., and its shareholders. And I kid you not!Interesting posts on Steve Jobs and Apple Inc.The Geek and The NerdApple Know What It Is DoingiPhone and Leopard - One Has to Give In?AAPL Delays Leopard for the iPhoneSurface Computing"This Christmas, I wish for world peace. 2007-08-30 23:11:08

Amazon presells Leopard, says release 10/07
    2007-06-15 15:17:59
Reader Elizabeth D sends a note that Amazon.com’s Leopard page has been updated (from the sparse set of details that we first saw there). It’s now available for presale, as well, and buyers haven’t wasted any time– as of this writing, it is the number one bestseller on the Software list. Now, Elizabeth noted that the release date was supposedly slated for October 31st, but I don’t see that anywhere on the page. As far as I can tell, Amazon is just saying “October 2007.” That’s not real different from what we’ve heard before, and between you and me, I wouldn’t make any major plans based on Amazon release dates alone. Then again, it’s just another brick in the wall of evidence– the odds are better all the time that we’ll see this cat by Halloween. Permalink

    Leopard es alucinante
    2007-06-11 23:33:25

    Spotted Leopard From Olam Ha-Nekudim

AP Photoי"ד בסיון תשס"זIn follow-up to my dream Sunday about a big black cat - a speaking black panther (shamanistically symbolizing prophecy and prophetic ability), another big cat - a yellow and black spotted leopard in Israel - made the headlines in Tuesday's news.Man clad in underwear pins leopardBy ARON HELLER, Associated Press WriterTue May 29, 6:03 PM ETJERUSALEM - A man clad only in underwear and a T-shirt wrestled a wild leopard to the floor and pinned it for 20 minutes after the cat leapt through a window of his home and hopped into bed with his sleeping family."This kind of thing doesn't happen every day," said 49-year-old Arthur Du Mosch, a nature guide. Man Wearing Only Underoos Pins Leopard

Having previously fended off a St. Bernard and a Pit bull while naked (No, I'm not making that up.) I tip my hat to this man. Hell, I only scared them away, he effin wrassled and pinned a leopard for chrissake. Leopard retrasado hasta octubre
    2007-04-14 08:17:00
Via | Applesferahttp://www.text-link-ads.com/xml_blogger.php?inventory_key=JN8NV4HMM54QZOB1YA0P&feed=1
