| Pat Diveney Pool Cue: Curly Maple with Lizard Wrap! One Cool Birthday Gift! | | 2008-08-06 06:43:05 | | Billiards friends, pool players, and fans of the cuesport, check this cool birthday gift I got from my good friend, Pat Diveney - a stunningly beautiful curly maple pool cue with lizard wrap! Yes, that is Pat's signature right there, everyone!Just look at that gorgeous lizard wrap! This beautiful creation from Pat Diveney came with adjustable weight bolts, joint protectors, and two shafts! It integrated a G10 radial pin that connects to the shaft via a true wood-to-wood finish! My Diveney pool cue came together with Filipino pool player Rodolfo Luat's pool cues and shafts via USPS.Truth be told, my good friend, Rodolfo Luat, aka Boy Samson, was very impressed with my pool cue. Rudy highlighted to me the two shafts that came along with my pool cue. You see, Pat really took the time to select the woods he used for my pool cue. And the two 12.75 mm shafts of my Diveney are Triple-A, rock hard maple with grains so tight that everyone at the AMF-Puyat Superbowl noticed them! | | | lizard and blossom トカゲと花びら (ueno, tokyo) | | 2008-04-14 00:00:00 | |
while walking around ueno near the national museums, i came across this petal-- one of many that was lying on a rock wall. as i leaned in to take a photo, i suddenly saw a tiny nose appear from the shadows of the wall's inner recesses. waiting patiently i stayed until his nose was slightly more visible so that i could take this shot. (i really wish that i had had a flash or reflector with me that day-- it taught me one important lesson in photography: always bring a little more equipment than you think you will need, when wandering about.) | | By: Sorafoto - Photoblog from Japan | | |

| Humor jokes-The Koala & the Lizard | | 2008-03-16 23:58:55 | | A koala is sitting up a gum tree ... smoking a joint when a little lizard walks past and looks up and says, "Hey Koala ! What are you doing?"The koala says: "Smoking a joint, come up and have some."So the little lizard climbs up and sits next to the koala and they have a few joints. After a while the little lizard says his mouth is 'dry' and is going to get a drink from the river. But the little lizard is so stoned that he leans too far over and falls into the river.A crocodile sees this and swims over to the little lizard and helps him to the side, then asks the little lizard: "What's the matter with you?"The little lizard explains to the crocodile that he was sitting smoking a joint with the koala in the tree, got too stoned and then fell into the river while taking a drink. The crocodile says he has to check this out and walks into the rain forest, finds the tree where the koala is sitting finishing a joint, and he looks up and says "Hey you!"So the koala looks down at him and says: | | By: Life Disguised in Humor | | |
| | Bearded Dragon Lizard from Australia | | 2008-02-14 00:48:00 | | Australian Bearded Dragon LizardBearded Dragons have broad triangular heads and flattened bodies, with adults reaching approximately 18 to 24 inches head-to-tail. When threatened, the lizards will expand a spiny pouch under their jaw and turn it black, as well as inhale air and puff up to make them appear larger. The pouch resembles a beard, lending the animal their name.Bearded Dragons have a distinctive series of spines radiating horizontally from the head to the tail. Their color ranges from light tan to dark brown, depending on their native soil, often with highlights of black, brilliant red, or gold, and can change somewhat depending upon their internal condition. Bearded Dragons can occupy a large range of habitats from the desert to dry forests and scrublands. All species are from Australia, but they have been exported worldwide and bred successfully in captivity. In the wild, the various species are widely distributed throughout different regions of Australia. Bearded Dragons li | | By: David's Nature Photography Gallery | | |

| Friday Flash..Paper Mache Lizard | | 2007-11-23 04:40:00 | | I finally got round to finishing this small gecko/lizard paper mache creation over the last few weeks. It had been lying around in a semi-completed state for about six months. Its only in the last month or so while being "unemployed" or "on standby"I have had the oppurtunity to add a few more layers of paper mache to it as well as paint and varnish it.From the tip of its nose to its tail it measures around 25 centimeters in length. The black and silver paint and varnish sheen is quite deceptive. One of my friends thought it was metal rather than paper and glue. | | By: porcelain-monkey | | |
| | Lazy Sunday [Bearded Dragon Lizard] | | 2007-08-11 23:08:00 | | Lazy Sunday - A Bearded Dragon Lizard in the SunLazy Lizard Lies in the SunRecently I was walking around a friend's property, mostly Australian semi-rural bushland, when I came across this little creature. Although he looks frightening, the Bearded Dragon lizard is practically harmless, and refused to move a muscle even when we picked him up! Before moving him, I snapped this shot at an unusual angle. The detail in this photo is amazing when viewed full-screen, especially around the lizard's head - you can see every small spike and inflection in his scaly skin. Although, as I said, these lizards are practically harmless, they can give you a nasty bite if provoked, so don't go picking them up!This shot really makes you think. Whenever anybody looks at this picture they tend to automatically tilt their head counter-clockwise 90 degrees and look up and down the lizard's body. That's because of the unusual composition and depth of field in this photo. The Bearded Dragon's head forms t | | By: David's Nature Photography Gallery | | |
| | The Lizard Lifeboat Station | | 2007-07-21 18:15:10 | | A couple of shots of the lifeboat station at Lizard head - built in 1914 according to the sign above the door. With it's lighthouse, famous pasties and at least two tea rooms claiming to serve the most southerly afternoon tea in the UK, this spot is a magnet for the tourists. Even when the weather is bad it is fairly busy here. This particular day was very windy and overcast, but we were fortunate that it was still clear enough for a fantastic view. | | Lizard...Banana Yoshimoto | | 2007-04-09 01:48:00 | | Lizard..Banana Yoshimoto...Faber and Faber.1993.180 pages including afterwords. I should have been forewarned by the gushing reviews on the back cover of this set of six short stories."Yoshimoto transforms the trite into the essential" (The New Yorker).Sorry trite is trite.Nor do the stories leave me with "a desire for more".(Times Literary Supplement).I found myself struggling to recall anything memorable after finishing the collection a week ago.I thought the six stories felt forced.Slight.Chick lit.Murakami light in her flailing attempts at mysticism and spirituality..."He and I fit together so well, like the swirl on the yin/yang symbol-his tough resilence and my resilent toughness".(pg 120)There were also annoying sentence constructions which may be the fault of the translator rather than wholly the fault of the author..."I use the word "frozen" because she moved with such fluidity that she almost appeared to be not moving at all"(p24)If that wasnt enough there also seems overuse | | By: porcelain-monkey | | |
