| Lunchtime meeting = unfair scheduling | | 2008-06-29 18:44:00 | | If you've read this site before today, you know that Monday, the Harrison Mayor and Council will have a special meeting Monday afternoon at 12:15. While we understand there are sometimes emergent situations that require odd scheduling, this meeting's scheduled start time is unfair to residents of the town who work and who might otherwise want to attend the meeting.And this meeting is not just an ordinary meeting, either. The mayor and council are expected to vote to expand the town's redevelopment zone to include several more streets. So the stakes at this meeting are extremely high.We believe the mayor and council have done a great disservice to the people of Harrison by scheduling this meeting for 12:15 p.m. There have been numerous instances where some who sit on the council have accused this administration of proffering an administration that doesn't appear to be transparent.And scheduling a meeting in the middle of the day certainly supports that accusation.We're not suggesting th... | | By: The Hudson Line Blog | | |

| Haruki: go experience lunchtime bliss | | 2007-07-06 20:17:00 | | Superb. I ordered the "Chef Box" for $12.00 from Haruki's Lunch Menu.. and now I can die a happy man. You get California roll sushi, you get vegetable tempura (carrot, squash, pepper), shrimp tempura, shrimp dumplings, Miso soup, side salad with sesame dressing, and a serving of fruit! Chopsticks, wasabi and soy sauce all thoughtfully included. I am so satisfied. Highly recommended for those days when you want to blow more than a fin on lunch. Worth every penny. So there.The weather in Helsingborg has been weird this winter. It's been so mild, with hardly any snow, and the little that we did have melted in no time.Then yesterday, it started snowing. Lots.And this morning, The Local (Sweden's news in English) reported that there's a "stay at home" warning to people living in Skåne.(Skåne is the county on the southwestern tip of Sweden. Both Malmö and Helsingborg are in Skåne. It used to be the site of one of Sweden's largest rubber factories, specialising in boots. Now it isn't.But there's a statue on the western side of the buidingcommemorating the site's heritage:The Swedish government should invest in some winter coats for these guys. They look frozen.
