Madeleine McCann "suspect" sues the press big time!
    2008-04-14 06:14:38
Ever since a gabby journalist from the Sunday Mirror spoke out of turn during the early days of the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, life has been intolerable for Robert Murat. He just happened to live in the same small town, but was fingered by the loose lips of a female reporter. She thought he was acting suspiciously, but just went on her feelings alone. Her words were taken up by all and sundry in the media. His house was turned upside down, his personal life dissected like a dead mouse on a clinician's table. Now he is suing Sky News, the Daily Express, Sunday Express, Daily Star, Daily Mail, Evening Standard, Metro, Daily Mirror, Sunday Mirror, News of the World, Sun and the Scotsman. The biggest libel action for many moons.Murat has been the subject of relentless speculation, much of it just questionable prurience. The only recourse in these instances is to sue for defamation damages. His Portuguese lawyer thinks, "After what was reported, it is very easy to understand this de

Madeleine McCann’s parents have welcomed a libel settlement and apology from Express Newspapers.   In a statement the McCanns said they were pleased that the newspaper group had admitted the “utter falsity” of the “grotesque” stories written about them.   The newspaper group has paid £550,000 to the Find Madeleine campaign.   The Daily Express and Daily Star have issued front-page [...]

    Kate, Gerry and Madeleine McCann
    2008-02-03 06:22:00
A Case Study In Class Nine months ago today, Madeleine McCann was possibly abducted, and probably murdered at a Portugese holiday resort after being left unsupervised in an unlocked apartment, as her parents enjoyed a night out on the shant with friends. At the time, I was recovering at the Holiday Inn in Southsea, as my home had been sealed off as a crime scene, after I'd been stabbed in the face by a drunken pikey who was trying to stab my eye out after failing to slit my throat. more... 03/Feb/2008 12:22

Madeleine McCann in Morocco - the story that won't go away.
    2007-10-29 04:06:00
Unbelievable as it may seem the stories about Madeleine McCann in Morocco keep coming thick and fast. Hopefully this story will find a happy ending but we doubt that it will be in Morocco. The latest update follows:PRIVATE detectives hired to find Madeleine McCann have received three new reports of sightings. They are now focusing their hunt on a wealthy woman in Morocco.Three callers to an international telephone hotline set up last week by the McCanns reported separate sightings of the missing youngster in the north African country. Each caller said that blonde, blue-eyed Madeleine was with the same 60-year-old woman, who they described as “middle class”. Last night, a team of private detectives were on the ground in north Africa searching for the mystery woman. The investigators are convinced Madeleine was snatched to order from Kate and Gerry McCanns’ holiday apartment at the Ocean Club complex in Praia da Luz on May 3 by a paedophile gang and smuggled out of Portugal. The privat

Morocco suffers in the search for Madeleine McCann
    2007-10-01 19:39:00
On 30 September, an editorial in Aujourd'hui Le Maroc newspaper bemoaned the fact that Morocco has suffered from stereotypical views in the tragic case of Madeleine McCann's disappearance. While everyone sympathises with the horror that her parents must be going through, it was interesting to note that presumed sightings of the child in Morocco make this an international case, not just European. Morocco adds a twist of the exotic unknown, where presumably children can be abducted and never found in such a mysterious environment. Driss Ajbali of Aujourd'hui makes the point that the Rif mountains, where the latest supposed sighting of Madeleine took place, are seen as a hotbed of mafia-like networks and are known for rampant drug-trafficking. In the photographs taken by Spanish tourists, the mother of Bouchra, the look-alike child, is dressed in the traditional striped apron and pompom hat of the region, which adds to the strangeness and feeds the fear of the unknown. Ajbali also points to the hysteria caused by stereotypical thinking: as everyone knows that all Arabs have black frizzy hair, what's a little blond girl doing in Morocco - it must be Madeleine! How could it be anyone else? This kind of hysteria is not doing Morocco any good at all. And why should Madeleine be here in Morocco as opposed to anywhere else? Sadly, as she disappeared so many weeks ago, it can only be assumed that the child is no longer alive and won't be found here in Morocco or anywhere else.Tags: Moroccan Morocco Fes, Maghreb news

    El asunto "Madeleine McCann"
    2007-09-13 22:30:00

    Madeleine McCann - further update.
    2007-08-02 01:37:00
Like many websites in this part of the world, we receive regular requests to continue publicising the plight of the missing Madeleine McCann. However, it should be pointed out that the links to Morocco that emerged in the investigation are tenuous and after investigation proved to be of little value. There are also some sites that have complained about what they see as the "Madeleine Conspiracy" or even the Madeleine industry - that is sites that are attempting to profit from the tragedy. If true, that is frankly disgusting. However, we do feel for the family and are happy to provide the following links for Arabic speaking readers.

    Missing Madeleine McCann
    2007-06-01 07:26:00
I have a fervent wish that the power of the internet can be fully utilized to create good in this world. Its ability to draw people together for a common goal is already happening in a multitude of ways. The blogging community is a prime example with its interactivity, social networking, commenting and web rings,. The resulting RSS feeds create constantly updated web content.Sites which include blogging features are developing to support charities and create mutual support (eg Care2, an online community for people who 'want to make a difference'and Careplace, a mutual support community.Bloggers have the power to get their message through quickly and widely and I believe we should use this ability much more for the common good. For this reason, I am posting the following message about the British 4 yr old , Madeleine McCann, who was abducted in Portugal on May 3rd:Tags: Link-Love sueblimely alexa

    Madeleine McCann abducted in Portugal
    2007-05-30 12:59:00
I don't know what else there is that can be done to publicise the disappearence of Maddy McCann, but I think the blogging community may be able to do a small amount to help get Maddy's picture around the globe. If you don't know the story, this little girl (4 years old) was abducted whilst on Holiday in Portugal, click on the picture to visit the official site for the full story. Maddy has a distinctive pupil in her right eye that will help to distinguish her even if she has her hair altered... I would be grateful if other bloggers could take up this story and put a picture of Maddy on their website. I am not personally connected to this story in any way, but have been touched by the plight of Maddy's parents (having a similar aged child myself).I would be delighted to see other bloggers all over the world helping to publicise this story as Maddy could be anywhere in the world right now and having her picture in the public domain may just help someone to identify her.

Madeleine McCann in Morocco - Update
    2007-05-20 09:49:00
"We don't believe Madeleine McCann is in Portugal any more and need to get her picture and the story across Europe as quickly as possible."- Philomena McCannWhile there has been huge interest in the Madeleine McCann story in Morocco, there have been no further sightings and no immediate response from the police to the story that the missing girl might be in the country. Our earlier story ( click here) generated a tremendous response and an outpouring of sympathy for the family. There is no solid proof of Madeleine McCann being in Morocco but we understand that there is CCTV footage. If this is true, then it can only be hoped it is reviewed as fast as possible. It is feasible that a young person could be brought too Morocco as Marrakech can be easily reached in less than a day from the Algarve via Tarifa in southern Spain. There are two ferries a every hour that make the trip across the Strait of Gibraltar to Tangier. There is, however, the question of how the kidnappers would avoid

See latest update here: Madeleine McCann in Morocco- UpdateA missing child may be in Morocco according to a holidaymaker who is convinced she spotted Madeleine in Morocco last week - and is now sick with regret because she did not know there was a girl missing and so she did not alert police there."I saw her in Marrakech"- Marie OlliMarie Olli said a 'sad' blonde girl was standing on her own in a petrol station in Marrakech, and then a man came over and she asked him: "Can I see mummy soon?"Mrs Olli, who is Norwegian and lives on the Costa del Sol, said she did not know about Madeleine on May 9, while she and her British husband were on holiday."I am very sure it was Madeleine. I walked into the petrol station and saw the little girl standing there. She looked sad. When the man saw me looking at them he turned away, so I couldn't see his face."It's very strange. If it was me with a child there, I would hold their hand, but this man was a metre away from herPortuguese cops have name
