    Manly Men
    2008-02-18 23:05:40
As many jokes as I make about men, I still think they are wonderful. Not perfect, of course, but what fun would a perfect man be? Well, maybe a lot, but it’s no fun waiting your whole life to find out whether he exists or not. There’s certainly nothing wrong with being manly. But what makes a man manly depends on who you ask. If you ask me (which of course, no one did), it has nothing to do with your muscles, or your bank account, or the number of women you’ve banged. The most awesomely manly man is the one who feels no need to prove his manliness to the world; he just lives it. He excels without tearing down others. He takes life by the horns. He doesn’t classify everything as “cool” or “not cool”. He looks you in the eye and doesn’t play games. He knows some things are more important than others. Find a man like that, and you’d better hang onto him! MANtage The Art of Manliness. More than a parody site (...

    Girly Bits & Manly Chunks
    2008-01-30 21:39:27
I went into the bathroom while Greg was in the shower. I mentioned that my belly makes it hard for me to see my girly bits… Greg: I have manly chunks. Me: Ew, that sounds so nasty. Greg: What? I’m not going to downsize my package to bits. Tags: conversations, greg...

A Frog Goes to New Hampshire Part 2, or Manly Man Jobs and the Men Who Perform Them
    2007-03-01 22:36:58
I’d like to now spend a little time bragging about how manly I was while in New Hampshire visiting my siblings.  I had two days of back-breaking labor while I was up there of the most manly kind.  One of these days involved wood.  There are two versions of this story.  Here is the first.  My brother Eric and I found about 20 or 30 suitable trees on private property that were going to be cleared to make room for a house.  In these cases, often the owners of the site allow people to bid on the trees and chop them down for firewood.  So we drove a dump truck up to the site and chopped down all of the trees with the little hatchet I am holding in the picture below.  Then, we dragged them all on to the dump truck and drove them home, where we reduced them to firewood-sized pieces.  You might not know all about wood-sizing, but I do, so trust me on this.  You have to chop the logs into little bitty pieces, then split them.  Splitting logs is a difficult process, and you hav...

Manly Man Brains- A Scientific Explanation
    2006-12-30 22:09:31
Sad day today.  I had to remove the cool 8 ball attachment on the shifter in my car.  This, obviously, degraded the car’s coolness factor to “cool,” due to the fact that I still have my fuzzy dice hanging on the rear view.  It had been “really cool” with the 8 ball gearshift cover, and I was looking forward to getting little fuzzy beads around the top that would have upgraded it to “ultra cool,” but the number 8 on the 8 ball wore off and all I was left with was a round ball shifter top thingy, which really isn’t very cool.  It was also, if I want to get technical about the whole thing, somewhat on the unsafe side, since the ball didn’t really fit on the shifter and wobbled quite a bit when I changed gears.  I made this change due to the fact that I had an automotive maintenance morning.  You know, get out the ol’ dungarees, put the car up on a jack, undo the oil gasket thingy and drain it out, maybe re-jet the carb,...
