Giovanni Veronesi, nos muestra la oda perfecta a un sentimiento tan hermoso como irracional e incognoscible: el amor.La estructura del filme hace que de pronto, y sin previo aviso, se nos venga a la mente las películas de González Iñarritu (o las novelas de Vargas Llosa si se desea), pues las escenas se dividen en historias diferentes, que en algún momento se interrelacionan directa o indirectamente.En el caso de Manual de amor, se dividen en cuatro momentos que, se justifican en los cuatros estadíos del amor (según la trama), “el enamoramiento”, “la crisis”, “la traición” y “el abandono”, cada uno de ellos interpretadas por personas de estratos sociales y culturales disímiles.El gran mérito de esta película radica en que logra hacer que las historias no parezcan insulsas ni inverosímiles. Varonesi logra matizar los rituales y “vicios” de los jóvenes que recién se enamoran, tan bien como la actitud consuetudinaria de las parejas de mucho más tiempo de convivencia.Un punto a favor es que el guionista pareciera no haberse querido ahorrar nada en esta película. Pues de ello se vale el director para combinar de manera espléndida momentos de intensa carga emocional con escenas de total jocosidad. Tal es así que lo que marca la diferencia entre Manual de amor y otras películas de misma temática (que, por cierto, no son pocas), es que el director logra mostrar las situaciones desde un ángulo distinto: el juego, la mofa y la jocosidad, que a veces nos llevan a momentos absurdos, pero no por ello, irreales o ridículos.Algunos la han criticado por esa razón. Por hablar en profundidad y en clave de comedia acerca del amor, pues creen que la limita su “carácter adulto”, acusándola de caer en el infantilismo y en lo ridículo.
