Parte senza soluzione di continuità da un punto indefinito del tempo, all'interno di una discoteca. Ed è subito un rincorrersi di sensazioni, con l'adrenalina che pompa tra i singulti di un montaggio preciso come il quattro quarti di una batteria rock. Non inizia Miami Vice perchè al regista, Micheal Mann, interessa il flusso dell'azione, lo scorrere delle cose, la velocità non telecomandata: quella della morte contro la quale ci si sfracella in tangenziale, oppure quella degli off-shore sul mare che sfida gli occhi. Ci sono i suoni duri come il cemento, iperreali come il grido sordo del percussore di un fucile d'assalto.
