Located next to the USS Midway Museum in downtown San Diego the statue is quite popular with couples striking the same pose and having their picture taken next to the huge fiqures. The official name of the 6,000-pound sculpture is “Unconditional Surrender” however most people just call it the kiss statue. | | Bad Day on the Midway | | 2008-07-29 23:13:00 | | ReferencesLettersRemember that this game is designed with a probability- basedvariable character interaction element. This means that if youfollow the exact same path as you did in a previous game, you'llmost likely meet new characters, discover new story lines, etc. Aseach character has his/her own agenda, you may begin the gameunveiling the problems/goals of one particular character, thenswitch characters and discover an entirely different set ofproblems. The characters' stories are intertwined to one degree oranother, so only by playing many times does one begin to discoverthe many subplots involved in the game. So, let me attempt to offer a few tips on viewing some of thedifferent areas/attractions/characters: You enter the game as thesweet, innocent Timmy. His face is in the crystal ball, indicatingwhich character you are currently assuming. His thoughts trailalong the bottom of the screen. The thoughts are location based("Wow! | USS Midway Museum | | 2008-07-28 02:07:00 | | I usually don't like to post about a museum that I've yet to visit, however this sounds like such a fantastic place that I want to share what I've read and heard about it, before our visit in two weeks. The USS Midway is longest-serving aircraft carrier in U.S. Navy history--a 47 year odyssey that spanned the end of WWII and the liberation of Kuwait in 1991. It's located in Downtown San Diego at Navy Pier on the Embarcadero.Although my son is still young, I think he will get a kick out of all the planes and being in such an impressive ship. The museum/ship is massive and is home to over 60 exhibits and displays. Midway is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with the exception of Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. The ticket booth closes at 4 p.m.General Admission$17 Adults$13 Seniors (62+), Students (with valid ID)$10 Retired Military (with valid ID)$9 children (ages 6-17)Active military (and Reservists) with valid ID and children 5 are freeAll ticket prices include a self-guided audio t... | | By: Daytrippingmom | | |
| | Midway Bringing Mortal Kombat to Touch? | | 2008-04-01 21:21:50 | | Of all the games I’d expect to see the SDK bring, owing to the impractical nature of the user interface for such things, a beat-em-up would have suffered a place on my list somewhere slightly below sea level. Rumour has it, however, that Midway doesn’t share my incredulity on the subject of such a [...]... | | By: Touch Podium | | |
| | Gooney Birds on Midway Atoll | | 2007-03-12 23:23:00 | | Just like you'd guess from its name, Midway Atoll is in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, half way between the US mainland and Japan. That geography made it a strategic outpost during the second world war.The atoll's best known inhabitant would have to be the gooney bird.Over three-quarters of a million laysan albatross or gooneys nest at midway every year, that's seventy one percent of the world's population. From July to October, most birds are out at sea, feeding at night on fish and squid. They come ashore for the breeding season. The chicks hatch around January to February, and spend the next six months practising their take-offs and landings. These still images are taken from movies that NHNZ Images has in its collection, and which are available for sale to include in your production, please check out our website for the on-line catalogue, demo reels, and soon to be launched newsletter. If you'd like to subscribe to this blog, check out the panel on the right, and while you'... | | By: NHNZ Images | | |
