Yes, I’ll take the #7 pick please…can you add a little stress to the side?  Stress in a mock draft?  Yes, it can be stressful.  Even in a league that will never take a fantasy snap, I feel I must destroy my peers.  It’s the second year of the Hazean Fantasy Bloggers Mock Draft.  I [...]

    May We Mock, Barack?
    2008-07-17 23:52:18
Maureen Dowd has a great op-ed piece in the New York times entitled, "May We Mock, Barack?" (Read the full post here). Its an interesting read on the subject of political humor and the odd turn that is taking place with Obama. Satirists have a long history of getting laughs at the expense of [...]

    Dannie’s NBA Mock Draft
    2008-06-25 09:25:43
Here is my first and only NBA Mock Draft. I am going to change it up slightly though. Rather than attempting to predict where players will be drafted (Pete had done a great job of keeping up with all the news and rumors flying around about what teams will actually do in his NBA Mock Drafts), in Recliner GM fashion I will make the picks entirely as if I was the general manager for each of the teams. We all know who the fans think should be selected will vary significantly from who their team will actually pick. So here I go playing GM. (Warning: it's long since this will be my only NBA Mock Draft)

OK - so this is clearly the most confusing draft of all time. Chad Ford said it best, so I’m not going to try to say it better: Every team I speak with says the same thing: This is one of the most difficult drafts ever to predict. Different teams are coming to wildly different conclusions [...]

    CJ's 2009 NFL Mock Draft
    2008-06-19 08:16:34
    1. Chicago - QB Matthew Stafford: If he comes out early, he's number one. Sure they have Orton but I don't believe he was ever considered to be the savior of the Chi franchise. This could be an instance though where the Bears are allowed to select a QB who might throw more TD's than Picks (and not have many 39.6 QB passer rating games either). Hey, he'strong too, he can lift a keg. Alternate pick - Tim Tebow.2. Atlanta - CB Malcom Jenkins: The Falcons need to upgrade their WR corp but I have a hard time believing any WR will go this high unless it's a Calvin Johnson type athlete, because most NFL personnel believe it takes at least one season for a WR to become a solid player and longer to be a playmaker. Jenkins can help the loss of DeAngelo Hall. Alternate Pick - Percy Harvin (I think if he puts up another explosive season a team might take the risk, i.e. McFadden, Bush). 3. Miami - LB Rey Maualuga: Rey is bigger and hits harder than Laurinaitis and for some reason when I think of P

    Pete’s NBA Mock Draft 5.0
    2008-06-18 15:27:39
    - The biggest change I've made is that I now have Michael Beasley going to the Heat instead of O.J. Mayo. There have been rumblings that Pat Riley thinks that Mayo and Dwyane Wade are too similar, and unless they can trade down to get him and pick up some more assets, they won't take him at 2. It's also been written that the Wolves are going to work out Mayo, and my gut feeling is that he will impress them to the point that they don't feel like they need Beasley.

    Pete’s Mock Draft 1.0
    2008-05-21 14:30:52
Below you will find my initial crack at a mock draft. I did this based on team need, and also how I think players will rise and fall as the draft process goes on (for instance: people will find out Brook Lopez just isn't all that good). As for the Sixers - I have them taking Brandon Rush here, who I have said before, I would love on the team. If the draft played out this way, they would probably take a look at Chase Budinger and maybe one of the big-man projects like Kosta Koufos or JaVale McGee.

I don't like to do mock drafts. You have probably figured that out by the fact that I have not yet done one. I'm not a big fan since I think they are mostly just guesswork. Since today is Draft Day, though, I thought I would take a stab at it. So, here is my Mock Draft. By tonight, we will know how I did. 1. Miami, Jake Long (OT, Michigan) 2. St. Louis, Chris Long (DE, Virginia) 3. Atlanta, Matt Ryan (QB, Boston College) 4. Oakland, Darren McFadden (RB, Arkansas) 5. Kansas City, Vernon Gholston (DE, Ohio State) 6. Mock Draft
    2008-04-25 20:27:00
I don't have the time or expertise to do a 1st round mock draft, but I would like to throw out my opinion of what the Fins will be doing tomorrow and Sunday.1st round: Jake Long has been drafted.2nd round: I would like to think they would go with Quentin Groves or Lawrence Jackson. The entire mock draft goes to hell if the Dolphins trade Jason Taylor for an extra pick. Let's just assume here that they don't trade JT. I would still take a DE/OLB over a QB.2nd round: Now I would consider a QB. If Henne is still available, then count your blessings and take him. If not, I think the pick is Sims the DT from Auburn3rd round: Fred Davis, TE from USC. We need a dynamic playmaker here. Davis is one of the best prospects at his position. TE might be a luxury, but I still like it.4th round: Mario Manningham slips a couple of rounds due to poor interviews and a god-awful 6 on the Wonderlic.6th round: Chad Rinehart, OG Northern Iowa. We need another body on the line to compete. Rinehart has the si

With The 26th Pick In The 2008 MHR Communnity Mock Draft...
    2008-04-22 07:45:25
WE HAVE A TRADE!!! The Jacksonville Jaguars, represented by MHR Favorite Claaaaas has made a trade with Jon Tollerud and the Minnesota Vikings. The details are below -- Minnesota Gets - #26 Overall Jacksonville Gets - #47, #113, #142 and #173 Claaaaas breaks it down this way - Our board was hit hard by the last couple of picks, so i don't see value enough among the currently available players. Receivers has to be extremely good for us to take him as we have invested a lot of money on the position in reloadingseason (Williamson, Porter). I don't see any pass rusher-value or corner value(Merling's injury-problems scare us a bit). DT is also a need (departure of Stroud), but i have 3 on my board, and at least one of the three will be available when we pick again. With the 26th Pick, the Minnesota Vikings and Jon Tollerud select.... via www.draftinsiders.com KENNY PHILLIPS, S - MIAMI Vikings' GM - Jon Tollerud -- The Minnesota Vikings were willing to take this chance

Rumblings Authors Mock, V2.0: Round Three Picks
    2008-04-22 07:24:35
After unveiling our first and second round picks over the last two days, the authors of Buffalo Rumblings are now ready to unveil the ultra-important third round of our Authors Mock Draft. Through two rounds (eight selections total), the four of us have predicted a whopping seven players will be the newest Buffalo Bills come this weekend (Oklahoma WR Malcolm Kelly is the only repeat pick). Here's how we chose in round three: Brian Galliford's Pick 3-72: Tyvon Branch, CB, Connecticut - I have Branch rated as the #8 corner on my board, which leaves out players who would struggle in Buffalo's preferred style of defense. Branch has outstanding straight-line speed (4.31), is tough and competitive, has excellent leadership qualities and works his tail off. He's talented enough to start in a Cover 2 defense in this league, plus he can return kicks. He'd be a great fit as a dime back to start (while upgrading the team's special teams units), and has enough talent and potential to st

Rumblings Authors Mock, V2.0: Round Two Picks
    2008-04-21 07:36:59
With round one of the second go-round of the Buffalo Rumblings Authors Mock unveiled yesterday, it's naturally time to move on to round two. For anyone who missed it, each author here is predicting all ten Buffalo Bills picks; the real selections, of course, will be made this coming weekend. Round two is coming at you right now; round three, rounds four and five, and rounds six and seven will all be posted on successive days, ending this project on Thursday. Without further ado, here are the authors' second-round picks: Brian Galliford's Pick 2-41: John Carlson, TE, Notre Dame - I'm of the mind that the Bills need to find a starting tight end in this draft, relegating Robert Royal back to his more suitable #2 TE role. I've been a big advocate of Texas A&M's Martellus Bennett, and still have him as the top tight end available this year, but he could very well be gone by the time the Bills pick in the second round. Carlson is not quite as quick but is tougher after making

With The 25th Pick In The MHR Community Mock Draft....
    2008-04-20 11:20:09
The Seattle Seahawks, represented by longtime MHR Member WABronco, select.... BRIAN BROHM, QB - LOUISVILLEG.M. - WABronco -- Seattle GM Tim Ruskell justifies this pick with the following:a) Clear case of Best Player Available.  Brohm was a consensus top prospect last season and going into this season, and getting him at the end of the first makes a lot of sense.b) Making this pick gives Seattle valuable depth behind the second of their two most important players, the first being Walter Jones.  This allows them to remain competitive for longer than their present, perceived window. Also, this gives Jim Mora Jr. a young QB to mold under once his tenure begins after the following season.c) He's a good fit in the WCO.  Smart, extremely accurate pocket passer.d) WR such as Devin Thomas and Desean Jackson, as well as DE's like Calais Campbell were strong considerations here but Brohm's value wins out.  Seattle has young players at both WR and DE, and they have proven es

Rumblings Authors Mock, V2.0: Round One Picks
    2008-04-20 07:34:52
Just a hair over a month ago, the authors of Buffalo Rumblings brought you the first version of our Authors Mock Draft. In that exercise - the first installment viewable here - each author predicted the Buffalo Bills' picks in all seven rounds of the upcoming draft. Since that time, several things have changed, most importantly of all that the Bills now have more picks. So, in the week leading up to the draft, we are now going to publish Version 2 of our Authors Mock Draft. Once again, we are not going to predict trades, and we will make picks based on selections the Bills currently have. All seven rounds will air this week; it will be a chance for us to discuss prospects and strategies one last time leading into the draft. Without further ado, here are the Round One picks: Brian Galliford's Pick 1-11: Devin Thomas, WR, Michigan State - Buffalo needs a starting wide receiver, Thomas is the consensus #1 receiver in the draft, he fits Buffalo's offense and has outstanding pot

    Mock Draft 3.0
    2008-04-18 00:05:48
First off, let me just say one thing.  The media is already all over this "slip up" in which GM Jeff Ireland may or may not have inadvertently shown Miami's hand.  The south Florida papers, especially, are already beating this story into the ground.  But in reality, who really has any idea at all what it means?  If the Dolphins were looking to go defense, then why (with 8 days left until the draft) have the Dolphins only opened up contract talks with one player, an offensive tackle at that?  At this point, nobody has any idea what Miami's plans are or if Ireland's "slip up" was actually a mistake or if it was planned.  Granted, it didn't seem too planned when watching it.  But maybe Jeff's just a very good actor.  Just don't blow this story out of proportion. Moving on, since it's Friday and there isn't anything really new to discuss, I thought I'd just throw up my latest mock draft and then get some thoughts from you guys.  Also, I wanted t

    Mock Food No. 5

April 18 ... I have saved the best till last for you this week. I have had to make some tough choices. Sadly, in the morning rush (I have been writing on the fly this week, not in organised-ahead fashion), my computer has mislaid the recipe for Mock Tapioca that I know you would have loved. Firstly, I give you a mock chicken recipe using up all those fish sounds you probably have languishing in your freezer, as you are probably tired of Eliza Acton’s recipe for them by now. Cod Sounds to look like small Chickens.A good maigre-day dish. Wash three large sounds nicely,, and boil in milk and water, but not too tender; when cold, put a forcemeat of chopped oysters, crums of bread, a bit of butter, nutmeg, pepper, salt, and the yolks of two eggs; spread it thin over the sounds, and roll up each in the form of a chicken, skewering it; then lard them as you would chickens, dust a little flour over, and roast them in a tin oven slowly. When done enough, pour over

    Josh's 2008 NFL Mock Draft
    2008-04-16 15:00:39
    1. Miami Dolphins – OT Jake Long, Michigan. In a moderately weak year to have the number 1 pick in the draft, the Dolphins make the smart move and take sure thing in Long. Long will be a franchise tackle for the Dolphins as Bill Parcells will build this franchise from the offensive and defensive lines. Parcells’ eye for talent will enable the Dolphins to find their skill position players down lower in the draft and it is too early to give up on last years second round QB John Beck.2. St. Louis Rams – DE Chris Long, Virginia. The Rams take an electric player from the DE position to help to bolster their inept defense. Long may have more upside than any other player in this draft and his size makes him an intriguing pick to attack offenses from multiple looks and positions. 3. Atlanta Falcons – DT Glenn Dorsey, LSU. This might be the biggest toss up pick of the draft. The bushel of money they threw at RB Michael Turner takes McFadden off their board, and I am not sure that Matt

    Mock Food No. 4
    2008-04-16 14:30:00
April 17 ... In view of the pre-occupation with finding acceptable Lenten substitutes for meat, it might be expected that ‘mock fish’ or ‘mock seafood’ would not be common historically. It would be an incorrect assumption, but once the idea is grasped, it is obvious that only the more desirable fish and seafood would be imitated. I don’t remember ever seeing a recipe for ‘mock flake’ (shark meat to you non-Aussies), or ‘mock flathead’. There is a wonderfully apocryphal story about the ancient king Nicomedes’ cook, who, when his master called for anchovies in spite of the fact that he and his army were stationed many miles from the ocean, mocked some up from strips of salted turnips – each strip being decorated with exactly 40 poppy seeds. It is said that the king was pleased – but was he fooled? Anchovies were an essential ingredient in English cuisine for centuries, the taste for them presumably being a distant legacy of the ancient Roman fermen

TE Bennett is Bills' Second Round (Mock) Draft Choice
    2008-04-16 07:59:13
Bennett rising up draft boards quickly (AP Photo) The Buffalo Bills, ably represented by this community, have made our second round choice in the 2008 SB Nation NFL Mock Draft. That pick is Texas A&M TE Martellus Bennett. Bennett received over 40% of the vote from this community, with WR James Hardy and TE Dustin Keller bringing up the rear with 20% each. Bennett, regarded by many as the best all-around tight end prospect in this year's draft class, is seeing his stock rise quickly in the two weeks preceding the draft. Head on over to Mocking the Draft (draft headquarters) to check out the pick rationale, but especially for the grade and pick analysis from New Era Scouting. Bennett an Immediate Starter? There are two tight ends that I'm very fond of in this draft class - Bennett and Notre Dame's John Carlson. Why? Because the Bills are looking to get bigger and more physical across the board, especially offensively (now that they've achieved that in t

    2008-04-15 14:33:00
April 16 The very strict dietary rules decreed for hundreds of years by the Christian Church were a very powerful inspiration for fake food. At some times in history almost half the days of the year were ‘fish’ days. There were multiple and overlapping reasons for this. The prevailing idea was that ‘flesh’ food stimulated bodily heat and lust, whereas fish, which came from the water was cooling, including cooling to the passions. The fact that fish do not have an observable sex life enhanced the belief that it was more suitable for times of religious observance when distracting thoughts were best kept to a minimum – and for those in religious orders, that meant all the time. There were economic and political reasons too: encouraging fish consumption preserved livestock on the land, and encouraging the fishing industry meant the availability of a large cohort of men with sailing experience who could then be sent on voyages of discovery or used to supply the Navy. SBNation NFL Mock Draft, Round Two: Bills On The Clock
    2008-04-14 18:10:40
Hosted at Mocking the Draft OK, fellow Rumblers - the time is now for y'all to put on your GM hats and enter the war room. The Buffalo Bills are once again on the clock in the 2008 SB Nation NFL Mock Draft, and just like in the first round, this community will be making the team's second-round selection. In case you missed it, our first-round pick was Oklahoma WR Malcolm Kelly (and yes, the selection was submitted before he bombed his Pro Day April 9). Selections 1-37 are viewable at the host site of the mock draft, while picks 38-40 have been made "behind the scenes". Here are the five players that we'll be choosing from in this round; if you don't like this list, feel free to add names in the comments section. (Note: Virginia Tech CB Brandon Flowers has been left off of this list because I believe that there is a 99% chance that the Ravens will take him with pick 38 this evening. Similarly, I believe that there's a strong chance that DE Quentin Groves an

    Mock Food No. 2
    2008-04-14 14:30:00
April 15 ... The feedback yesterday convinced me that the rationale behind the mock chicken pie made from pork and potatoes was indeed because chicken was a luxury meat ‘back then’ – compared to ordinary every-day pork. The second part of the conundrum remains however – was it intended to fool the family (or guests)? If they were fooled, did the cook have the last laugh silently, or did she reveal the trick after receiving the praise? Today’s choices cause no such dilemma. They are foods intended purely for fun, and as they come from the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, they demonstrate for just how long we have been playing with our food. The first one is from The Form of Cury, the first known English cookery manuscript which was compiled by the Master Cooks of King Richard II right at the end of the fourteenth century. It is for ‘Golden Apples’ – meat balls made with a ‘farsur’ or ‘farce’ of ground meat, which are then ‘gilded’ with egg and saffro

The Phinsider Community Mock Draft: Pick #21 - Washington Redskins
    2008-04-11 11:43:38
With the 20th pick in The Phinsider Community Mock Draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers select Devin Thomas, WR, Michigan State. Thomas just edged out Mike Jenkins, 29% to 27%. So the 5 most recent picks look like this:   16. Arizona Cardinals - Leodis McKelvin, CB, Troy (57%)   17. Minnesota Vikings - Derrick Hervey, DE, Florida (58%)   18. Houston Texans - Branden Albert, G/T, Virginia (28%)   19. Philadelphia Eagies - DeSean Jackson, WR, Cal (41%)   20. Next up, with the 21st selection, are the Washington Redskins.  For all things Redskins, head over to Hogs Haven.  Below are the Redskins' draft needs: 1. Defensive End: Andre Carter has turned out to be a real good free agent signing and he's racking up sacks but Phillip Daniels is 35 years old and there is basically little or no quality depth to speak of. 2. Wide Receivers: Starters Santana

BBV takes Connor in mock draft's first round
    2008-04-11 10:17:48
It is finally my turn in the SBN Mock Draft. So, to complete the first round I have selected ... Dan Connor, linebacker, Penn State with the 31st overall selection. You guys know I wasn't 100% sure which way to go after the Chargers' guest-blogger took Miami safety Kenny Phillips, whom I wanted badly, with the 27th pick. But, Connor is a good choice here and he is the guy most of you seemed to want with this pick. So, that's how it went down. Here is what I said about the Connor selection over at Mocking the Draft. By the way, SBN draft guru Matt Miller loves this selection. I am absolutely thrilled to be able to land Connor, the next in a long line of standout linebackers from Penn State. In all honesty, though, Connor is not the guy I had been eyeing throughout this process. I really, really wanted Kenny Phillips, the Miami safety who went to San Diego with the 27th pick. Phillips, the best safety in this draft, would have shored up what I see as the Giants' weakest posi

The Kansas City Chiefs, managed by jonnyr44, select.... BRANDEN ALBERT, OG - VIRGINIA G.M. - jonnyr44 -- A dream scenario for Kansas City has occurred. W/ no one available at #5 who they wanted to pay the money, trading down and picking up Lito Sheppard and an add'l 5th round pick was great. Had KC not traded down, I very well might have selected Albert at #5, only now we get to pay him like a late teen pick, and not top 5. Holy hell, this is how you work the draft people. Instead of getting one player at #5 and paying him boatloads of money, we'd get Lito Sheppard as CB and KR/PR, a 5th rounder, and Albert and it'll probably be cheaper to pay those 3 players than it would to pay Vernon Gholston, who was selected 5th in our mock draft. Why Albert? He can play anywhere on the line. at 6'5'' 310 pounds, he played G in college but could project as a LT. His versatility makes him more desirable than Otah from Pitt. He'll either be a great G or a very good tackle, and KC just has tons

The Houston Texans, represented by Pro Football Hall of Famer Orangeman, select.... AQIB TALIB, CB - KANSAS G.M. - Orangeman -- Talib has all the tools you look for in a corner. He can match up with the taller physically gifted NFL receivers. He has the makings of a shut down corner. Talib has good recovery speed if he makes a mistake and closes quickly on the ball. He can  also wins jump ball situations. Talib is versatile enough to play safety. Ray Rhodes will coach Talib up like Alex Gibbs coaches up the O-line. Dolphins Offensive Mock Depth Chart
    2008-04-09 00:05:59
I recently received an e-mail from one of our regular readers/community members, OnTheGo, with an idea for a post.  He believes that a good way to try and predict what the Dolphins might do on draft day is by taking a good look at the current roster.  He suggested doing a mock depth chart.  So, being a man of the people, I've decided to take action on his suggestion.  And I look for you guys to do the same in the "comments" below. Today we'll look at the offense and tomorrow we'll focus on the defense. Now, a few notes about this depth chart.  First, it isn't 100% complete in the sense that it does not list everyone currently on the roster.  Second, you will see some players listed twice.  That's not a mistake.  Rather, it's probably because that particular player could play more than one position.  Look for this, especially, when talking about the lineman. A mock draft that makes sense
    2008-04-07 06:57:44
I love the work the folks at DraftTek do heading into the draft each season. DraftTek uses a computer program that factors in team needs, schemes and existing personnel in formulating a full seven-round mock draft. One of the great things about the mock is it compares the actual selection to a player's projected value, giving you some idea whether the pick is a 'reach' or a 'value' selection. Here are the players who ended up with the Giants in DraftTek's latest mock, held April 5. Round 1 -- Kenny Phillips, S, Miami (+0/Value) Round 2 -- Carl Nicks, OT, Nebraska (-4/Reach) Round 3 -- Dwight Lowery, CB, San Jose State (-10/Reach) Round 4 -- Andre Fluellen, DT, Florida State (+4/Value) Round 5 -- Arman Shields, WR, Richmond (+16/Value) Round 6 (194) -- Vince Hall, ILB, Virginia Tech (+15/Value) Round 6 (198) -- Tyson DeVree, TE, Colorado (+4/Value) Round 6 (199) -- Curtis Johnson, OLB, Clark Atlanta (-2/Reach) I actually like this mock quite a bit. WE HAVE A TRADE!!! This time, it is a trade among friends, so to speak.  The Detroit Lions(TBell61) have agreed to a trade with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers(R8rH8r).  Of course, in reality, Lions HC Rod Marinelli coached under Monte Kiffin in Tampa so a trade like this could happen.  Below are the details -- Tampa Gets - #15 Overall Detroit Gets - #20, #83, #178 The view of the G.M.'s -- Detroit(tbell61) -- For the Lions, a team with multiple needs, this is all about collecting extra picks, especially in light of not having a compensatory pick anywhere in the draft.  We believe we can get a player who can help us at # 20, and now we have two additional picks. Tampa(R8rH8r) -- There are two driving factors behind this trade:  (1) Tampa Bay needs to reload at WLB and (2) Outside of Keith Rivers, the draft class is incredibly thin at the position.  To get this done, I was willing to invest multiple picks to move as high as pick #6.  After Rivers slip

Stewart received 29% of the vote, with Derrick Harvey getting 22% and Leodis McKelvin picking up 13%. SBNation Mock Draft....The Broncos Select...

I figured the loyal readers of MileHighReport.com should be the first to know the selection I made in the SBNAtion Mock Draft before it gets posted.  With that in mind... With the 12th Pick in the SBNation Mock NFL Draft, the Denver Broncos select.... DERRICK HARVEY, DE - FLORIDA Sure, this is a bit of a surprise pick.  The Broncos used two early picks in 2007 on defensive ends.  Let me start to explain by saying I am hoping the Broncos can find a way to trade down.  That is seeming tougher and tougher to do because everyone appears to be wanting to do the same thing.  In order to trade down, the Broncos need someone to want to trade up.   If a trade does not happen, the Broncos are going to be forced to make a selection they won't be especially excited by.  Sure, they are going to get a solid player, but most likely at a position they would like to not give #12 money. While it appears the popular thought is the Broncos will draft O-Line at #12, I ju

The Chicago Bears, proudly represented by Bears Blogger WCG, select.... RASHARD MENDENHALL, RB - ILLINOIS G.M. - WCG -- I wanted this pick badly.  I knew the responsible thing to do would be to take an offensive linemen, but I just could not bear (pun intended) to see another potential superstar pass us by.  So I evaluated the linemen available and decided that only Ryan Clady would be enough to get me to give up Mendenhall.  For that I owe jaxon a thanks. The Bears are a running team...period.  So as much as you'd like to talk about how bad our passing game was/is it means nothing.  Our offense starts and ends with the run, so if it isn't working nothing is. Mendenhall is first on  some boards and third on others.  McFadden won't be available and the Bears cannot wait to see when Stewart will be available and what he has.  Mendenhalls has size and surprising speed for a guy his size.  He is just shy of 5' 11" and 225 lbs.  He clocked

    SB Nation Mock Draft Update!
    2008-04-03 19:40:56
As everyone should know, the SB nation Mock Draft is underway! We're nine picks deep right now, with all the action happening over at Matt Miller's Mocking The Draft. This is not your normal mock draft, not by any stretch of the imagination. We've got thirty of the best team writers out there as well as the collective insight of New Era Scouting adding insight and analysis. Of course, our Jaguars won't be picking till sometime next week, probably on Wednesday, but it's worth checking out. If you recall, I'm sticking to my Draft Board, so as people come off we'll see who the Jaguars might end up with. Obviously my top ten or so is hit pretty hard. There's not much in the way of surprises in the draft, maybe the pick of Leodis McKelvin at number seven. I have University of South Florida's Mike Jenkins as the best Cornerback in the Draft, but it's not a bad pick for the Patriots. Top five players still unpicked: Ryan Clady, OT Boise State, Mike Jenkins CB USF, Rashard Mendenhal

Host: Mocking the Draft OK, fellow Rumblers - the time is now for y'all to put on your GM hats and enter the war room. We are only up to pick 7 in the 2008 SB Nation NFL Mock Draft over at Mocking the Draft (pick 8 will air this evening, around 8:00 PM eastern), but this community is scheduled to pick for the Buffalo Bills in just over 24 hours' time. The first seven picks are in, and the six big names (Long x2, Gholston, Ryan, Ellis and Dorsey) plus Leodis McKelvin are off the board. With those picks in mind - and understanding that there are still three more picks to be made (Baltimore, Cincinnati, New Orleans) before we pick, here are the five prospects I'm considering with this pick: Note: there are no trades in this mock draft, so we're picking at 11. This is it. Long fills a huge need for the Falcons and immediately helps out [insert name of Falcons rookie quarterback TBA] next year. This pick is very reminiscent of the one the Browns made last season with Joe Thomas - they added a stud tackle prospect, then traded up to nab their QB of the future. Look for the Falcons to do something similar in this mock (though they might not have to trade to do it). No. 4 Pick by Silver and B

With The 11th Pick In The MHR Community Mock NFL Draft...
    2008-04-01 19:21:37
The Buffalo Bills, represented by amirebram, select.... MALCOLM KELLY, WR - OKLAHOMA G.M - amirebram -- The Bills would have like a CB, but the top 3 guys were all taken. They also have a need for a RT. But given their long time solution at LT, I believe that this is too high a pick to spend on RT. Kelly isn't a safe choice at all, but he is a safer pick than Hardy (character), Sweed (health), or Jackson (size). A lot of people have hyped Thomas at WR, but he isn't the best pick. He doesn't play as fast as his timed speed. Just look at his yards/catch. He isn't a deep threat you need at a high pick like this. Ducet is a very safe and decent pick, but like Bennett he has limited potential. Teams look for something really outstanding for a pick this high. Anyhow, Kelly has nice hands, which is a must for any WR. I think Kelly is only second to Bennett in actually catching the ball once it is near him. So in this sense he is a better pick than most of the guys I already mentioned. He

The New Orleans Saints, proudly controlled by BroncosDude793 select.... MIKE JENKINS, CB - USF While Broncosdude793 really didn't provide any comments, it is safe to assume that the Saints have a plethora of needs on the defensive side of the ball.  Jenkins is fast and athletic and should help to shore up a disgusting defensive backfield in New Orleans. The Draft So Far -- #1 - Miami Dolphins - DE Chris Long, Virginia #2 - St. Louis Rams - OT Jake Long, Michigan #3 - Atlanta Falcons - DT Glen Dorsey, LSU #4 - Oakland Raiders - RB Darren McFadden, Arkansas #5 - Philadelphia Eagles(via Trade w/ K.C. 2008 SB Nation NFL Mock Draft: Day One Recap
    2008-04-01 07:16:33
The 2008 SB Nation NFL Draft, hosted at Mocking the Draft, got under way yesterday, and the first two selections of the mock draft were made. Here's how those two picks played out: No. 1 Pick by The Phinsider Chris Long Defensive End Virginia This was the smartest pick that the Dolphins, and Matty I, could have made. Matt Ryan isn't a #1 overall pick type of quarterback, and the John Beck experiment is not yet over (yes!). There are also questions about whether or not Jake Long can be elite at left tackle in the pros, so it's not worth paying him like he can. Chris Long is the hardest worker with the best pedigree in this draft, and he's ultra-talented to boot. It's a safe pick, yes, but it's also going to make Miami's defense much better. No. 2 Pick by Turf Show Times Vernon Gholston Defensive End Ohio State In our first minor upset pick of the year, VanRam showed guts by passing on Jake Long for, in my opinion

The Phinsider Community Mock Draft: Pick #12 - Denver Broncos
    2008-03-31 11:56:25
With the 11th pick in The Phinsider Community Mock Draft, the Buffalo Bills select Malcolm Kelly, WR, Oklahoma. This was the closest vote yet, with Kelly picking up 25% of the vote.  Devin Thomas and Leodis McKelvin each picked up 22% of the vote. So here is how the last 5 picks have gone: New England Patriots - Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, CB, Tenn St. (32%) Baltimore Ravens - Glenn Dorsey, DT, LSU (41%) Cincinnati Bengals - Sedrick Ellis, DT, LSU (80%) New Orleans Saints - Keith Rivers, LB, USC (41%) Buffalo Bills - Malcolm Kelly, WR, Oklahoma (25%) To see the entire mock draft, click here. Up next, with the 12th pick, are the Denver Broncos.  For Broncos news and insight, head over to the Mile High Report.  Below are Denver's draft needs, courtesy of NFL Draft Countdown: 1. Defensive Tackle: The Sam Adams experiment was a huge bust and to say that there is almost nothing beyond last years 4th round pick Marcus Thomas would likely qualify as a major understatement.

    Mock Me
    2008-03-30 20:39:00
I have seen this recipe for Mock Apple Pie floating around for several years now. I finally decided to try it tonight. It is actually Ritz crackers in a sugar syrup. According to the recipe I found online, this pie was made during the war and depression era when apples or food in general were scarce or expensive. My husband saw me putting it together and said, "No one is going to eat cracker pie." I said, "Maybe it tastes really good. How would you know if you don't try it?"It is not like he has the best taste anyway. He would live on spaghetti and mountain dew if he lived alone. Yuck!Oh and I was in Walmart this weekend and they had all their winter clothes on sale for less than 5.00! I got Becca three pair of jeans for 3.00 each. I love me some cheap clothes. Unfortunately the men's fashion clothes were NOT on sale. You know because men will walk in and buy the first thing they see instead of actually s-h-o-p-p-i-n-g so they don't need to put their clothes on sale.

    Buffalo Rumblings Mock Draft, V3.0
    2008-03-30 00:00:29
Kelly to Buffalo in Version 3 of our mock draft (Athlon Sports) 'Tis the season to be mocking, Bills fans, and tomorrow SB Nation begins doing just that. If you're looking to find the coolest mock draft anywhere, be sure to tune in to Mocking the Draft, SB Nation's NFL Draft blog, tomorrow morning for the start of the second annual SB Nation NFL Mock Draft. Last season, I was fortunate enough to represent the Buffalo Bills in the first edition of the mock draft and used the opportunity to draft LB Patrick Willis, RB Antonio Pittman (ouch) and LB Quincy Black for the Bills. Two out of three isn't awful, right? This year, we'll clearly be making the Bills' selections again; stay tuned over the next week for Buffalo's selection. We'll have much more on the SBN NFL Mock in the month leading up to the draft. In the meantime, however, now is the time to unveil the third version of Buffalo Rumblings' Mock Draft. I've provided analysis for the first-round selectio

With the 6th Pick In The 2008 MHR Community Mock Draft

The New York Jets, represented by MattR select.... LEODIS MCKELVIN, CB - TROY ST. G.M. - MattR -- This is probably the Jets nightmare scenario (although Vernon Gholston becoming the Jets' Mike Mamula was probably their fans biggest nightmare). While part of me regrets passing on the chance to move up and grab McFadden, staying put was still the right move.  The Jets traded away their third and fifth round picks for DT Kris Jenkins and the team is just not good enough to come out of the draft with only two players from the first five rounds. The best player available is probably Sedrick Ellis, but he can't play DE in a 3-4 so I think the Jets will pass.  Matt Ryan is another option here, but Kellen Clemens was a second round pick in 2006 so I think the team will give Clemens a bit more time. It is very likely the Jets would look to move down a few spots (Denver might be a possibility with Ellis available).  But in the interest of keeping things moving, the Jets will make

MHR Mock Draft Trade Proposal....Help Decide...
    2008-03-29 18:41:38
UPDATE -- The Trade has been nullified by both the commissioner and the community. Without getting ito every detail as to why, I simply feel we are beginning down a slippery slope in terms of adding players to trades. That said, please do not include players to any trades you are trying to consummate. The Jet's have made their selection and I will be posting that momentarily... There has been a trade proposal for the #6 pick.  Being that the deal involves the Denver Broncos, I felt I should let the community help decide.  The particulars of the trade, as well as a poll, are after the jump... DEN gets #6 (1,600) NYJ gets #12 (1,200), #105 (84),  #132 (40) and Foxworth (276) So, this trade gives Dominique late 2nd round value (#63 pick to be exact), which I think is actually quite fair. Please vote in the poll whether or not to allow.  I am going to go run some errands, then be back with the final decision...

With The 5th Pick In The 2008 MHR Community Mock Draft...
    2008-03-28 20:31:22
WE HAVE A TRADE!!! The Kansas City Chiefs, represented by jonnyr have decided to trade the 5th pick to the Philadelphia Eagles, proudly represented by Styg50.  The details of the trade are below -- Philly Gets: #5 Overall Pick KC Gets: #19 Overall Pick; #144 (5th Round); Lito Sheppard As commish, I decided to allow this trade, despite not being a big fan of trades involving players in mock drafts, because it is actually feasible.  For starters, the Chiefs have a lot of needs, and besides possibly going QB here there wasn't a player that could put them over the top.  By dealing, they acquire a Pro Bowl corner to replace Ty Law, an extra pick in the 5th round and still get o stay in the Top 20 of the draft.  They also avoid having to sign a player to a huge contract, something the Chiefs like to avoid. For the Eagles, for starters they have plenty of cap space to actually sign a #5 pick.  The addition of Asante Samuel also allows the Eagles to be aggressive

The Phinsider Community Mock Draft: Pick #11 - Buffalo Bills
    2008-03-28 12:19:03
With the 10th pick in The Phinsider Community Mock Draft, the New Orleans Saints select Keith Rivers, LB, USC. This was a tight race, with Rivers picking up 41% of the vote and Leodis McKelvin getting 32% of the vote.  Jeff Otah was third, with 10%. So here's how the last 5 picks have gone: New York Jets - Vernon Gholston, DE, Ohio St. (56%) New England Patriots - Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, CB, Tenn St. (32%) Baltimore Ravens - Glenn Dorsey, DT, LSU (41%) Cincinnati Bengals - Sedrick Ellis, DT, LSU (80%) New Orleans Saints - Keith Rivers, LB, USC (41%) To see the entire draft so far, click here. Up next, with pick #11, are the Buffalo Bills.  For the best Bills insight and analysis, head over to Buffalo Rumblings.  Below are their draft needs, courtesy of NFL Draft Countdown: 1. With The 4th Pick In The 2008 MHR Community Mock Draft...
    2008-03-28 10:04:28
The Oakland Raiders select..... DARREN MCFADDEN, RB - ARKANSAS G.M. - BCFunderburke -- Many prognosticators believe the Raiders won't add yet another RB to their already RB-deep roster. However, this fails to account for the following assumptions held by the Raiders' front office: Raiders will trade LaMont Jordan and/or Dominic Rhodes before the draft, thereby clearing out space for the new Run DMC and his 4.27 40 time, Gholston, though a tempting selection, doesn't get Davis' heart ticking like McFadden. Burgess, their current DE, is a good enough and still relatively young. Nobody offers them a sweet enough deal to trade down. I didn't hear a word from Dallas, for example. McFadden gives the Raiders an explosive offensive weapon, in their mind, that can play both RB and WR (ala Reggie Bush). "Just win, baby!", "Commitment to Excellence", and now, "I'll Draft Who I Want Because I'm Almost Dead!" Forever yours, Al Davis Leave it to Big Al to come through with the McFadden pick.

Complete 2008 1st Round Mock Draft

Pick #1 Miami Dolphins - Chris Long , DE (Virgina) As everyone expects The Dolphins will build the future from the Defensive side of the ball. The Atlanta Falcons select... GLEN DORSEY, DT - LSU G.M. - ZappaRulez -- Although the Falcons continue to suffer from the loss of Mike Vick, there will be no first round quarterback taken this year by the Atlanta Falcons.   The Falcons have also seen several voids open up on defense over the past two seasons and the best way to add an immediate impact on this team is to select DT Glenn Dorsey. Draft So Far -- #1 - Miami Dolphins - DE Chris Long, Virginia #2 - St. Louis Rams - OT Jake Long, Michigan The Oakland Raiders, represented by bcfunderburke are up next.
