| *** GEORGE CARLIN 1937-2008 *** "Life Is Not Measured By The Number Of Breaths We Take, But By The Moments That Take Our Breath Away." | | 2008-06-23 04:51:00 | | Peter here once again on this sad Monday morning, June 23, 2008, a day that our nation and our world lost a comedian and a person who was a national treasure. His name was George Carlin, and I've been a fan of his ever since the first time I saw him on the Johnny Carson Show AND Saturday Night Live. Believe it or not, he was the FIRST EVER host of that groundbreaking show. I have that night in full on DVD, and sometime today, when I have time, I'm going to watch it. Quite simply and in his own way, he was a genius, with his comic delivery and his bevy of facts. I've seen him three times in concert and countless times on his HBO specials, and he never failed to provide outloud spit-spewing (eeww) laughs. And I loved him for it. This is from the AP, from late last night (early morning).**"George Carlin, the dean of counterculture comedians whose biting insights on life and language were immortalized in his "Seven Words You Can Never Say On TV" routine, died of heart failure Sunday. | Top 5 Miami Dolphins Moments of Past 15 Years | | 2008-06-04 23:16:01 | |
So a couple of days ago I was watching the classic Dolphins/Jets game from 1994 on NFL Network and I got to thinking (which I try not to do too much). And what came from my thinking was deciding to take a break from all the recent Dolphins news and take a trip down memory lane.
So today, I present to you all the top 5 moments (in-game moments, that is - not as in when the Dolphins drafted "X" player or traded for "X player) of the past 15 years, in my own personal opinion. And that's the fun of this. Some you might agree with. Some you probably won't. But it makes for a fun debate and is something to help past the time until this weekend's mini-camp, which the media is able to access (meaning we'll have some good reports on what is going on).
So let's get into my top 5 moments of the past 15 years:
Number 5: Dolphins vs Raiders, Week 2 2001

| Video Guide of Funny Model Moments | | 2008-06-01 16:14:05 | | One thing that I find interesting to do is try to guess what the voice of a model will sound like.It is like in the movies, you have seen tons of films of a certain actor and you think that you actually know him, his personality, how he reacts, you base your guesses in the characters. For example, I have the idea that Johnny Depp is an insecure and troubled boy, or that Brad Pitt is a confident and outgoing man, and Hugh Grant is a man with troubles to get the woman of his dreams, but he ends up | | By: Miss at la Playa | | |

| Bitter Moments | | 2008-04-12 20:14:18 | |
I guess silly season has come to an end and now we are moving on to completely stupid season. Barack Obama made some comments about how the working class is bitter about government's failure to replace lost opportunity, and somehow it has become a big issue. The Clinton campaign has accused Obama of being elitist, demeaning, and out of touch. Being a member of the working class, I have to say I can't understand what the hell she is talking about. I have read the comments over and over and just don't get it. I even read them with the intent to be offended and still couldn't come up with anything. Maybe you have to be worth tens of millions of dollars, as Clinton and McCain are, to understand it. I'm not the brightest guy, but I'm smart enough not to be offended just because some politician says I should. If this is the best that Clinton and McCain can do to show they are better candidates, then they must be truly desperate. | Those Moments | | 2008-03-18 20:20:45 | | Tonight I went to a routine wrestling "banquet" held at a local pizza place. Ricardo went with me, but of course, did not sit with me. I didn't mind though. I was enjoying my evening of relative peace and my diet coke.As you will recall, Ricardo has never once wrestled. He started this year as a sixth grader, and was moved to the Jr. high because of his age at the end of first quarter. By the 2nd week of his Jr. High Wrestling season, the varsity coaches had asked him to wrestle varsity.Tonight I was both shocked and VERY proud to sit there as he was given a letter (he lettered as a 7th grader who had NEVER wrestled before) AND to watch him receive a plaque. His team mates had all voted on the best new wrestler and he received the award. His grin when I told him how proud I was of him as we walked to the van was priceless. There are lots of moments in parenting -- the not so great ones, and the great ones. And this one, was one of those great moments. | Christmas Moments | | 2007-12-23 09:41:00 | | While last week everyone was so sick that it was a real challenge to find a moment that I truly wanted to remember, this week was packed so full of them that I couldn't possibly choose just one. There was the smile on Jacqui's face as she she showed me her gingerbread house creation that she made at her play group on Christmas PJ Day.The joy of making Christmas cookies with Jacqui while Kyle scrambled excitedly about our feet with his mixing spoon and bowl trying out his first attempts at the word, "Koooooo-kie? Koooo-kie? Keee-Kooo? Koooooooooooo-kie?"And there was our wonderful evening walk through the neighborhood, looking at all the Christmas lights. We piled the kiddos in their Radio Flyer red wagon with pillows, blankets, warm water bottles, and sippy mugs filled with hot chocolate. They were snug as bugs and giggling those magical Christmas giggles, the ones filled to bursting with anticipation and twinkles from widened little eyes. Then off we rolled on our neighborhood tour... Jacqui yelling elatedly, "Wow! Look at dat! Oh, Wow! Look over dair!" And Kyle joining in with a mittened paw pointing anyplace he saw light, including street lamps with his one beautiful baby word, "Yoook! Yooooook!"Jacqui slurped down most of her hot chocolate, spilled some, and then attempted to go after Kyle's. Nothing doing! Kyle held on with mittened temerity, "Mine! Miiiiiiinnne!"The last stop on the tour of lights was our neighborhood Grand Finale House. Every neighborhood has one. You know the one. The house so lit up that you can probably see it from space. Even the kids were in awe. Their little exclamations turned into whispers - "Wow..." "Yook..."Kyle made me giggle on the way back home as he leaned back into his pillow, arms propped perpetually out to the sides by layers of warm clothes. He made me think of Randy in A Christmas Story... "Help!! I can't put my arms down! Help!!!!"As we wobbled along, I noticed Jacqui tapping her mittened hand to h | | By: In The Life Of A Child

| Chuck Liddell's Seven Defining Moments | | 2007-12-18 17:34:43 | | What separates a champion from a contender, a star from an average Joe scraping out a few dollars here and there on the club fight circuit? In a lot of ways it comes down to what a fighter does when faced with challenges that would make most crumble. | Johnny Depp Shining moments | | 2007-12-14 11:20:46 | | Johnny Depp has a very long career and a very impressive one too. He started with a hit TV show. (21 jump street) And even then he was playing the main lead of that show. After a couple of year doing that show he made the jump to the big screen. I am not too sure what his first movie role was but I know he did Edward Scissor hands. This was the start of a long professional path with Tim Burton. Johnny Depp could have taken the good looking hero, leading Man but that is not his choice of role. Johnny Depp has play heroes with flaws. From Edward Scissor had to his newest movie Todd Sweeney (Surprising both have sharp objects). Johnny Depp is one of those great actors that you really like to watch on the screen. Even if he was acting with other screen legend like Marlon Brando in Don Juan De Marco, you could see Johnny Depp has stolen the sense. Also his acting ability was some of the highlights on some very bad movies such as Benny and June. In that movie he was the only one that had any depth of human characteristics. I could name main more examples of Johnny Depp shining on the screen but I want keep this under 1000 words. So I have talk about his greatest role (Excluding Sweeney Todd, because I have not seen it yet.) Pirates of the Caribbean, Capitan Jack Sparrow, is the one crazy son of a pirate, these movies were a ride that was fun and exciting with Capt. Sparrow as your guild.I suspect that this new movie Sweeny Todd (Dec 21) will be one of my favorite movies. The match up between Tim Burton and Johnny Depp are one of the best on film. I really like the Tim Burton very dark style and Johnny Depp to ability to try any thing for his craft. For more information visit the official Sweeney Todd movie site and for more visit Sweeney Todd on MySpace | | By: Cool Looking Stuff | | |

| Write Back Weekend " One Five Moments In Time" | | 2007-08-13 19:00:00 | | Last week I took on the daunting task of asking you to pick five defining moments in your lifetime. I realized this was a tall order after I sat down to work on mine. I also realized that no matter your age, you can still have lived a life rich with experiences. Some people have lived more in twenty-five years than others have lived in fifty. If you don't believe me, just ask one of last week's participants, Katherine.Still, as always, it wouldn't be fair to ask those who played to choose five and then not manage to narrow it down to five myself. So here we go...in the order in which they have occurred.1. Driveway Birthday Party- When I was six years old, my parents had my birthday party at my house. Being that my birthday is in June, we had it in and outside, but somehow the bulk of the party ended up happening on my driveway. Never mind the fact that we have a HUGE backyard that is literally vacant. Back then though we had these annoying prickly things that were all over everyone's y | | By: The Art of Getting By | | |

| Capturing Special Moments With A Digital Camera | | 2007-06-16 13:02:32 | | There are millions of people around the world who share a keen interest in photography. The charm of capturing a moment in a camera is truly amazing. Probably, this is one of the strongest reasons why a growing number of people are joining the cult of professional photographic pursuit. Traditionally, taking photographs, film processing and developing them in the dark room was a painfully long process. But as digital technology evolved, it enabled camera manufacturing companies to come up with high-end digital cameras. Digital cameras are an ideal gadget for taking pictures without having to worry about running out of snaps of roll which is the case with the traditional film cameras. This apart, there is no need of having to wait till the entire roll of film gets used just to find the blown-up pictures in the dark room. Digital cameras allow you to take any number of photographs and see each one of them right after you take them. Also you can connect your camera to the USB port of you P | | By: PoloMercantil Informative Articles | | |

They just released their sports list of the Top 25 sports moments of the last 25 years. Can you guess what the number one moment was? Does the picture here help you?Yes, the Red Sox historic World Series win of 2004 was named the number one sporting moment of the last 25 years. Can't argue at all with that. (It should also be high on anyone's list of the Top 25 of the last 50 or even 100 years. It's an event that will grow in stature as the years go on. Mark my words.)Here's how USA Today described it:It took 86 years, included insufferable losses to the hated New York Yankees and monumental gaffes seemingly replayed constantly, but the Fenway Park faithful finally danced in the streets when their beloved Boston Red Sox won the 2004 World Series in a sweep of the St. Louis Cardinals. | Memorable bird moments | | 2007-06-11 16:28:00 | | Dozens of seagulls dropped in on the Detroit Tigers-New York Mets game Sunday in Detroit. They interrupted play at least once, and some of them hung around the entire game. At least none of them were killed, not like some of the unlucky birds in the video below.

| Moments of Truth | | 2007-05-09 19:30:00 | | The conference finals are now upon us. The field of sixteen playoff teams has been reduced to the final four, and there isn't an underdog among them. Each of them is a division winner. Each of them has a potent offense and a solid defense, and a talented, overachieving goalie. So who's going to win and advance to the Stanley Cup Finals? As you know, I don't do predictions, I just pick favorites, like my dad did with his kids. I prefer not to make myself look bad when it turns out I have absolutely no ability to see the future, so I just root for one team over another and hope for the best. So, without further ado, I present to you my new official favorites, and why: VS. This series should be amazing. The Sabres, in case anyone has been completely asleep for the entire NHL season and somehow didn't notice, are by far the favorites to win the Cup. They have the deepest offense, a surprisingly solid defense, and a goalie who's probably been playing above his actual ability for | | By: Dear Lord Stanley | | |

It's moments like these that... | | 2006-10-17 21:52:00 | | Pop Culture Round-UpIt's moments like these that make me thank God I was born an American with its national right to reality TV. Sunday night saw the season finale of Flavor of Love and then Monday was another episode of The Bachelor. It was like a one-two punch of "reality" TV goodness!Let's start with Flavor of Love: Enough has really already been said about it that I don't need to go into detail (plus I'm a little behind because, to be perfectly honest, I can't stay up that late to watch TV and still get up and go to work the next morning so I actually watched the final episode on Monday afternoon) but I just want to put it out there -- I'm glad Deelishis won. I don't think anyone will disagree with me. New York is a bad-weave-wearin', drama-inducin' PSYCHO. Luckily, we haven't seen the last of her and apparently she's gotten her own show. On which men compete. For her hand. HAH! I admit it right now, I am MOST CERTAINLY tuning in to that program! The Bachelor had a lame-o | | By: Princess Trophy Wife
