This year, Auto Express UK has chose the new Ford Mondeo to be their Car of the Year.
Britain’s higest selling weekly motor magazine chose the Mondeo as the best family car and the best estate car aswell. Editor in chief, David Johns hailed the Ford as “The new Mondeo is Ford’s finest ever car,”. He also stated the not just the saloon, but the hatchback and estate models also deserved the award being “been designed and engineered to the highest standards”.
This will surely boost the very popular Ford top seller across Britain and help Ford with their financial worries with large debts, after needing to sell of Land Rover and Jaguar this year.

Interesante reportaje de Fifth Gear sobre la recién estrenada nueva versión del Ford Mondeo. En el video (más abajo puedes reproducirlo) podemos ver que las mejoras son palpables en todos los sentidos. Desde el diseño (para mí, ha ganado miles de puntos con respecto a sus antecesores), calidad, variedad de motores, etc… Realmente parece que Ford ha hecho una apuesta muy fuerte con este nuevo Mondeo, aportando importantes dosis de lujo y tecnología que no se veían los últimos años en la marca del ovalo, y que apunta directamente a la competencia más directa en lujo, como pueden ser Mercedes, BMW y Audi.
A mí, lo que más me gusta es el nuevo diseño, que me recuerda bastante al del actual Lexus IS (mi sedan de 5 puertas favorito en este momento). Un dato curioso que me ha llamado la atención del video, es que en Inglaterra uno de cada cinco sedans es un Mondeo. Desconocía por completo la lealtad de los ingleses a este modelo de Ford.
