After the Lottopoly (coming soon), I find this to be the most fun. The interest rates are rather high compared to real-life CD’s, but they help to illustrate the point that investing pays off, [...]

As kids, Madoline and I loved playing Monopoly. We enjoyed accumulating property, building hotels and watching the money roll in. We used to play to the extent of having to use calculators to keep track of our individual wealth after exhausting the bank’s supply of cash. When our cousin Mabel arrived in April for her [...]

Currency Trading Is Not The Monopoly Of The Nerds And The Geeks
    2008-05-02 09:25:08
The general perception is that any and every person who is involved in the business of trading of currency or foreign exchange is a person who has a super high IQ. To hear words and phrases like liquidity ratio, central bank intervention and inflationary demand makes us feel as if we are back in the boring and inherently avoidable lecture on economics that we were forced to attend in our college. However, all these preconceived notions apart, forex or currency trading is not the domain for the super intelligent alone. There is no doubt that you need brains to get involved in forex trading. Then, I bet you cannot name a single sphere of human activity that does not need the application of one's mind. A bit of brains and lot of research can help you make a tidy sum in currency trading. Till recently, the forex trading market was not open to individual investors. To take part in the process of buying and selling of currency, you either had to be a big bank with lots of deposits and a

Viet Nam will lack electricity until monopoly removed
    2008-03-20 06:19:00
The electricity price increase plan will only help reduce losses for the Electricity of Vietnam (EVN), while it will not help improve the electricity shortage. Vietnam will still lack electricity as the monopoly still exists. Enjoying Monopoly
    2007-10-08 03:26:06
I have been playing Monopoly lately in my computer. Sometimes I forget the time and its already late at night. Damn! I still like this game. This best-selling commercial bored game in the world still gets my interest and still makes me think when I'm playing against a computer or another person in our house. I assume you know this game. It used to be very popular and I'm sure, people are still enjoying it now. In this game, players compete to acquire wealth through stylized economic activity involving the buying, rental and trading of properties using play money, ( i love this!) as players take turns moving around the board according to the roll of the dice.

Gazprom wants all of Sakhalin : Is the monopoly too big to handle?
    2007-06-21 00:03:40
The Russian government may now have a very big headache to deal with in its oil and gas sector, its own creation - Gazprom. The more you feed the giant, the greedier it gets. After the Russian monopoly was given sizable stakes in most natural gas projects on Russian soil, in some cases the stakes were taken away from foreign companies, as well as being granted the exclusive right to export Russian natural gas, Gazprom remains unsatisfied.Earlier this week, Gazprom's deputy head Sergei Ananenkov stated that because Gazprom would not be able to fulfill the natural gas supply requirements to Russia's Far East before 2014 with its new Sakhalin-3 project, it should be given the right to buy the natural gas produced on Sakhalin-1 (co-owned by Exxon Mobil and Rosneft, among others) who are already in talks of exporting that gas to China. Many see such statements as Gazprom's attempts to wrest control over all the major Sakhalin energy projects. After buying out Royal Dutch Shell's 50% + 1 share stake in Sakhalin-2 late last year amid active pressuring from the Kremlin to revoke Shell's license for the project outright, Gazrpom with the help of the Russian government's several ministries is seeking to attain control over the Sakhalin-3 project without a formal auctioning process. And now, Gazprom has been complaining about the violation of its unique natural gas exporting right status while the companies controlling Sakhalin-1 plan to export gas to China.Kommersant cites experts saying Gazprom's statements of a deficit of energy resources in Russia's Far East are only a pretext. Gazprom's real goal is to negotiate export prices to China out of Sakahlin-1 itself (and presumably decide on further allocations of natural gas) rather than let the consortium members do it. Right now exporting natural gas is a much more lucrative business than selling it within Russia, due to a large disparity in prices and government subsidies. As Vremya Novostey reports, Gazprom's action

    The American Idol Monopoly
    2007-02-27 19:16:00
Okay, so really my need for a new post comes because I realized that my post about Reba was my last one. And, I realized I needed a new one pronto. I certainly didn't want brand new reader to my blog to think that is who I am, right? A bona-fide Reba-lover?? (okay, so secretly I am).So, I am sitting here watching Tuesday's American Idol, and I'm thinking "why bother"? I already know I will probably not watch it tomorrow and Thursday. That is just TOO big of a committment. Three days? Seriously? That is crazy. And what is crazier is that millions will do it. And you know what else? All networks are terrified to put anything against it because it will fail. So, then you have networks shying away from putting their good shows on Tues, Wed and Thursdays during that time slot, so there is crap on the other stations. So, where are we? Well, since there is nothing else good on, we end up watching American Idol. See? A monopoly. I'm sure they'll get sued eventually. Oh dear. We have Jarrod coming up to sing and he is dedicating this song to his mom and dad for their inspiration. Um, yeah. It's "Let's Get it On". I'm not joking. On another TV note, did you hear about them doing a Grey's Anatomy spinoff? Yup. 'Tis true. Seems they have too many really good characters to develop really good stories around in one hour. So, they have decided to take Addison's character and give her her own show. They have said, though, that the show will basially be an extension of Grey's. Kind of making it a 2-hour kind of thing, without it actually being two hours. Um, did I mention that American Idol was a monopoly? Well, Grey's Anatomy is right behind it. Film it and they will come. I actually do not know one person who doesn't watch it, so you can't blame Shonda (the show's creator) for doing this. Or can we? If you read some of the message boards out there, some people are psychotic-ly upset about it. But not me, oh no. I am never involved in such nonsense. Oh

IT'S NOT MONOPOLY MONEY, DON'T RISK YOUR HOUSE ON IT!
    2001-11-27 10:37:00
What's the difference between an amateur and a professional? An amateur practices until he can get it right, a professional practices until he can't get it wrong. So, where are you going to get your investment information - from an amateur or a professional? A good investment decision is based on knowledge: What does this company do? How do they do it? How well do they do it? What's their
