| | Cancelled Presales Vancouver Condos - Cancellations of Elyse, Sophia, Riverbend and Montgomery Estates ... is this a growing problem? | | 2008-02-29 17:56:00 | | What's Happened to the Elyse Condos, Presales Sophia Condominiums, Montgomery Estates Townhomes in Oakridge and Coquitlam's Riverbend Projects? Should Homebuyers Be Worried? With so much focus these days on ‘fast cash’ and ‘easy profits’ in real estate investments, the presales condo market in Vancouver has hit some road bumps. Starting with last year, when the Coquitlam Riverbend project was cancelled by the developer who couldn’t see a profit return to The Eden Group of Companies who decided to yank the Elyse Condos in Vancouver pre-construction market. The Vancouver Elyse condominium presales were suppose to be completed with a couple years within the first home buyer’s purchases, but by last fall, the Eden Group of Companies real estate development firm had announced the bad news that the pre-construction condo building was not going to go through. Although the initial home buyers get their initial deposits back, think of what the money could have been used for durin | | By: Vancouver's New Construction Real Estate Developme | | |

| Baltimore Sun Takes Cheap Shot at Montgomery County | | 2007-11-08 00:00:00 | | Maryland collects more income tax from Montgomery County residents than it does from Baltimore City and Baltimore County combined, even though Montgomery has half a million fewer people. So it must be galling for Montgomery residents to read the Baltimore Sun's insulting dismissal of Montgomery's tax worries. Here's what the Sun wrote:The same Senate committee responded to complaints from Montgomery County lawmakers and capped the income tax on high-end earners at 5.5 percent instead of the 6.5 percent Mr. O'Malley proposed. They also largely eliminated any tax reductions for low- and middle-income workers. Considering how regressive the rest of the tax package is, that's outrageous. Legislators say they want a more progressive tax system, but apparently they also fear the wrath of the state's rich, many of whom live in Montgomery County. What O'Malley wanted from Montgomery wasn't 6.5% but 9.7% because unlike any other state, Maryland collects huge county income taxes. | | | Poppy Montgomery | | 2007-10-14 16:27:37 | | Poppy Petal Emma Elizabeth Deveraux Donahue (born 19 June 1972 in Sydney, New South Wales) is an Australian actress. Her brother is named Jethro Tull, after Jethro Tull. Her sisters are named Rosie Thorn, Daisy Yellow, Lily Belle and Marigold Sun - all named after flowers, as Poppy is. She has stated the reason for her siblings interesting names was that her parents "were big hippies."She chose her mother's maiden name, Montgomery, as her stage name. She left Australia at 16 to be with her then-boyfriend. They broke up, and she arrived in Hollywood at 18 carrying a copy of How to Make It In Hollywood. She currently stars as Samantha Spade in the American television series Without a Trace. Montgomery was the "cover girl" for the May 2005 Stuff, which labelled her "TV's Hottest Cop." She has also appeared in Maxim, FHM and posed nude in the art magazine Black+White. Montgomery was praised for her portrayal of Marilyn Monroe in the 2001 CBS mini-series Blonde, based on the novel by Joyce Carol Oates. She quit practicing yoga and gained 12 pounds to emulate Marilyn Monroe's ample figure for the role.Montgomery is dating and living with boyfriend Adam Kaufman, her co-star in the independent film Between. In June 2007, Montgomery announced her pregnancy with Kaufman, the baby being due in December; later that same month she accidentally revealed on Nine Network's Today that she was expecting a boy.For the complete gallery click here

Wes Montgomery
Inspired by his Idol Charlie Christian, Wes Montgomery took the world by storm in the 50s with innovative guitar techniques and soulful tunes that ultimately led (backfiring) to what we call Smooth Jazz today.
Random opinion: Wes Montgomery invented a heartfelt and deep style known as Smooth Jazz, which has been butchered into cheesy, often "elevatory" music. Smooth Jazzers obviously missed the point somewhere in the translation. Don't kill me...
Montgomery was well-known for being the first Jazz guitarist to use his thumb instead of a pick. By using his thumb, he was able to express with a variety of tones. Wes Montgomery was also an innovator in that he applied the use of octaves. These rare techniques had such an impact that Montgomery has been one of the most mimicked Jazzers in history.
