| | There's a moose loose near the hoose! | | 2008-08-09 17:00:00 | | Whilst reading through a few blogs over the last few days I popped over to one of my favourites to find that they had had a visitor ... a moose. For those of you who missed it here is the link: We are not alone
Can you imagine how exciting it would be to come face-to-face with such a magnificent, wild creature ... what sort of sounds do they make, I wonder?

| | Yanks use long balls to back Moose for 14th win | | 2008-08-03 18:18:00 | | The Old-Timer's Day ceremony was great thought Mattingly, Bernie, Sparky and others could not attend but overall a nice event for the fans.ON THE MOUND:Mike Mussina was the Yankees stopper today, and picked up his 14th win of th year. He was brilliant and had the red-hot Angels' hitters off-balance all day. He mixed speeds as well as he has all year, and had great command of all his pitches. In seven innings pitched Mussina allowed one earned run on two hits, walked two, and struck out five. He also retired the final 17 batters he faced. The two runs shouldn't have scored; Mussina got what should have been an inning-ending 5-4-3 double play. But it was screwed up by everyone who touched the ball, and the Angels had their two runs. Officially it was a throwing error on Betemit, but Giambi should have made the scoop, and Alex Rodriguez probably took a little too long to get the ball to Betemit.Jose Veras' stuff was electric today. He struck out the side, and walked one in his inning of wo... | | By: The Evil Empire | | |

| Moose And Mo And A 9th Inning Foiled Boston Comeback...Yankees 2 Red Sox 1 | | 2008-07-06 03:55:00 | | The Boston Red Sox ALMOST completed a ninth inning comeback against Mariano Rivera. They sure had their chances. They had scored one run to make the score 2-1 and had the bases loaded with no (zero, none, nada) outs. The bases were full. Here's what transpired. The score was 2-0 Yankees and JD Drew led off this final inning with a single, his second hit of the game. Manny followed and was hit by a pitch, the sixth but not the last time a batter was plunked in this late afternoon contest. Mike Lowell singled to right, driving in the first Sox run. 2-1 Bad Guys. Still no outs. Kevin Youkilis was then hit by a pitch. That would be number seven and the last hit batsman of this soon-to-be-over game. Still 2-1 and Mo beared down. In short order, Coco Crisp struck out, Jason Varitek, who usually wears Rivera out, popped out and Julio Lugo, Boston's last hope, struck out. A golden opportunity to drive a stake through the heart of their hated rivals was wasted, and the game was over. Here's wha... | | By: Peter's Red Sox Forever | | |
| | Yanks show Moose no support in 2-1 loss | | 2008-06-30 15:54:00 | | With the loss the Yanks missed an opportunity to gain a game on the Wild Card leading Red Sox, who lost to the Rays tonight. Instead they fell to 6.5 games out of first place with the Rays' win. They're now 4-6 since their 7-game winning streak.ON THE MOUND:Mussina held one of the better offenses in the league to 2 runs on 5 hits in 6 innings pitched. He also struck out 8 Rangers, while walking 2.In relief Edwar Ramirez, Jose Veras, and Dan Giese pitched 3 scoreless innings, but again, it was all a wasted effort.THE OFFENSE:Scott Feldman picked up his first career win on the road tonight. The worst pitching staff in baseball shut down the ''Bombers''!?The Yankees' offense could only score one measly run off the Feldman, a solo HR from Alex Rodriguez. The homer tied Jimmie Foxx for 14th place on the all-time home run list with 534.Yesterday, the Yanks went o-for-6 with runners in scoring position. In his Major League debut Brett Gardner went 0-for-3, with a stolen base. A groundout, a st... | | By: The Evil Empire | | |
| | Moose not thrilled with IBB call | | 2008-06-21 15:24:00 | | From Newsday :Mussina looked in to Jose Molina for a sign and saw four - the catcher was holding up four fingers to signify an intentional walk ordered by Joe Girardi. To a rookie. In the fifth inning.Mussina did what he was told and walked Jay Bruce, a lefthanded hitter with 90 big-league at-bats. But the next batter, righthanded-hitting Jolbert Cabrera, laced Mussina’s first pitch for a double down the leftfield line, driving in two runs.MUSSINA'S REACTION:Mussina did not rip Girardi after the game, but after an extra-long time in the trainer’s room, he made it clear how he felt about the failed strategy.Would he have walked phenom Bruce, who was batting .322, to pitch to journeyman Cabrera, who was 2-for-2 at the time but had only 16 at-bats all season?“Well, I didn’t get to choose,” Mussina said. “That was the path we chose. That was it.”Later, asked if he would be able to put this one behind him, he said: “Maybe tomorrow. Tomorrow or the day after … The fifth inn... | | By: The Evil Empire | | |

| Hank on the Moose | | 2008-06-16 20:33:00 | | From Anthony Rieber: HOUSTON - On April 20, Hank Steinbrenner was quoted as saying Mike Mussina "just needs to learn how to pitch like Jamie Moyer."At the time, Mussina had just been beaten up by the Red Sox and was 1-3 with a 5.75 ERA. Since then, he's gone 9-1 and has put himself in contention for the American League All-Star team for the July 15 game at Yankee Stadium. So, Hank, what do you think of Mussina's turnaround? Do we score one for the Baby Boss' motivational skills?"I'm not going to take credit for that," Steinbrenner said in a telephone interview Sunday morning. "He's smart enough to figure that stuff out himself. He's been playing baseball a long time."Not only does Steinbrenner not want the credit - is he really George Steinbrenner's son? - he also admonished himself for talking about Mussina in the first place."I don't think it was necessary for me to say anything, truthfully, at that point," he said. "He was going to figure it out himself. He's the ultimate pro veteran... | | By: The Evil Empire | | |
| | | | Moose Cruises, Joba Confuses, Mariano Defuses | | 2008-05-14 21:05:00 | | Bryan Hoch/MLB.Com:Hank Steinbrenner may not have been shy about his phone calls, but the more important event for the Yankees was hearing those Moose calls.Mike Mussina won his fifth consecutive start Wednesday night for the Yankees, who snapped a short two-game skid by limiting the Rays to one run over 6 1/3 innings. Robinson Cano had four hits, including an RBI, and Bobby Abreu also drove in a run, leading New York to a 2-1 victory over Tampa Bay at Tropicana Field. The resurgent right-hander was sharp once more, mixing his pitches and spotting his offspeed stuff with command over an 87-pitch performance, scattering five hits. Mussina walked one and struck out four, lowering his ERA to 3.99. The performance came hours after manager Joe Girardi held the first closed-door clubhouse meeting of his tenure, and on the same day that Steinbrenner issued comments criticizing the club's sluggish 19-21 start.Mussina started the seventh inning and recorded the first out, but was lifted after a ... | | By: The Bronx Stop: Just Another New York Yankees Blog | | |
| | | Sock Moose | | 2008-04-24 16:44:31 | |
The sock monkey has been around for longer than I have been around but it is what you would call a classic toy, one that has been around for decades and isn’t about to go anywhere. The sock monkey market; however, has been expanding over the past few years and has grown to include other [...]... | | By: Kidazy
| | | Dead Moose | | 2008-04-18 10:24:00 | | So who am I referring to in the title of this post? Bullwinkle? Bob Moose? (Actually he's already dead. And did you know he threw the last no-hitter in the history of Shea Stadium, and I was there?) Moosie Dreier? (And how the hell do you name a kid "Moosie?") Moose Skowron? The Mariner Moose? No, it's Mike Mussina, and he was ritually slaughtered last night by one Manny Ramirez, who took him deep twice in Yankee Stadium last night in the Red Sox 7-5 clubbing of the Yankees last night. It was the second and third bomb that ManRam has belted off the Moose in two games this season. (Boy, if the Yankees are counting on him this season they are in real trouble.)Manny continues to scorch the Yankees. In the last two+ years, he is hitting .478 against New York (55-for-115), with 14 HRs, 27 RBI. And in his last time up, against Yankee whipping boy Kyle (Where Do You Want It?) Farnsworth, the first pitch went sailing behind Manny, close to his head. For the first time ever, Farnsworth got an o... | | By: The Mighty Quinn Media Machine | | |

| | Moose Roughed Up in First Spring Outing | | 2008-03-03 15:14:00 | | Here is his line: 2 IP, 6 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 0 BB, 0 SO, 1 HR ... pretty ugly.Even though he got hit hard Mussina didn't seem too upset about his performance today. He said he "felt good," but that he's "not in pitching shape," and "wasn't able to get the ball where [he] wanted it with two strikes." Which is something you would expect in the first week or two of spring training, when a pitcher's command isn't quite there yet. He also complained that he doesn't have an out pitch at the moment, which w... | | By: Sliding Into Home | | |
| | Mega Moose energy drink | | 2008-01-02 18:48:00 | | A little over ten years ago Marlboro was forced to end their use of the Joe Camel cartoon character in advertisements many believed were at least partially aimed at teens and children. Well I was getting something to snack and drink the other day in a local Pump and Pantry before heading off to a concert and I stumbled upon an interesting bottle. I know it's not even in the same universe of questionability as Joe Camel, and I don't even think it's a very big deal, I just found it interesting how striking the similarities between the character I imagine is known as Mega Moose and Joe Camel. I'm not a doctor, but I don't think it's terribly good for a child to drink an energy drink, no matter how rad the moose on the bottle is. And while it's not Red Bull or Monster, all the sugar and caffeine and ginseng and taurine and whatever else goes in these drinks can't be good for a 10 year old. The drink in question is pictured to the right next to a bottle of Nesquick vanilla milk, which is incredibly delicious and goes fantastically with cinnamon Sun Chips. Interesting how the milk and the energy drink come in similar packaging isn't it?Now, I'll admit I didn't read the ingredients and I am simply judging the drink by it's cover so I'm likely premature to label it as a ploy by some company to get kids hooked up energy drinks. I'm sure I'm wrong.... | | By: Sunrise on the Sufferbus | | |
| | Moose wreck revisited | | 2007-12-31 00:56:38 | | Moose plowes into the car, or car plows into the poor Moose, neither the auto nor the giant moose did too well here. Actually, the moose and the car seem to have gne to an early grave in this sick wreck.
This all happened in a place called South River, which is about 40 miles S. [...]... | | By: Just Sick Shit
| | Horny Moose | | 2007-12-16 14:59:39 | | These are just a few pictures of your average moose trying to get his rocks off. I can’t imagine the set of blue balls this guy’s going to have after he gets done with the bison statue. Thanks to The Dude and Zorro Dogg for sending this link in.

| | | Moose Is A MESS! | | 2007-08-28 12:06:00 | | As the title said, Moose is a mess. And so is his team. Last night, for the third start in a row, Mike Mussina looked like a washed up old man, with no movement at all on his pitches. He gave up 6 runs and was gone after three innings. The bullpen, as it has been all year, was terrible, adding fuel to the fire and runs on the Tiger half of the scoreboard. Final score? 16-0 DEE-troit. The Yankees are 8 games behind the Boston Red Sox going into tonight's game at that stadium in the Bronx.Right now, the Yankees have only two consistant starters-Pettitte, who goes tonight, and Wang, who will pitch on Thursday. The other starters are .500 pitchers, at best. Clemens, the previously mentioned Mussina and their number five guy, whoever that is. It depends on what week it is. Their bullpen is worse, Rivera included. And they will have to sweep us in this short set.....or we can put them out of their misery. I prefer the latter. It's the kind thing to do, and it would allow the Yankees to con... | | By: Peter's Red Sox Forever | | |
