| A Little Motivation | | 2008-07-30 02:58:01 | | I actually wrote this post for my other blog, but I really think you can take what I said and apply it to your own life. I think lately, a lot of us have been having some pity parties of our own and I think you’ll agree we need to get over it and move on. So take a gander, and if you are with me, we’ll make a change in our own lives starting today
A lot of people have moments that can only be described as self-pitying moments. I know over the past few years I have had more than my fair share. Well, I need one more… one more before I put them to rest - never to let them resurface again.
All through life I keep waiting for my AHA moment. You know the one - AHA, I really am fat, now I’m going to lose weight. AHA, I have completely mismanaged my money all through my life which is the reason I’m in the situation I am in now, so I’m going to change it. AHA, I really am a special person so now I’m going to start believing it.

| Can’t Find The Motivation You Need To Write An Article? | | 2008-07-25 00:00:00 | | There are many great advantages to article writing and article marketing. | | Internal Motivation | | 2008-06-25 10:19:44 | | I've cut my inbox in half and am struggling my way through my Nalgene bottle (mother's day gift) of water. My throat still hurts and my to do list seems endless. Hard to stay motivated. One of the things that I heard on my ADHD podcast is about how the part of the brain that is affected by ADD/ADHD/FASD is the part of the brain that affects monitoring emotions. It is what allows us to regulate how we feel as well as how to control it and keep some of those emotions to ourselves. The podcaster pointed out that the word motivation comes from the same root word as emotion and thus if the brain cannot regulate and process emotion, it cannot self-motivate. I can't imagine how I would survive if that little voice in my brain wasn't continuously saying, "OK, now, time to get moving." The podcasters who both have ADD talk about how hard it is to even get motivated to get up when the part of the brain that tells you all the reasons why you should isn't working. So even though I'm not gettin | | By: Never a Dull Moment | | |
| | Motivation Breeds Motivation and why I now Like Working Out | | 2008-06-19 08:25:16 | | This past week more people than ever have been emailing me privately or leaving comments that they are being motivated by reading my blogs. I am thrilled to know that is true. Why?Because it’s all about me. (joking of course)But seriously, do you know how motivating it is to know that I have motivated someone else? And how can I quit now if you are counting on me not to? If I realize that my motivation is someone’s inspiration, then I can’t give up or quit. I have to keep plugging along. And that makes me more determined than ever.I also have discovered one reason to enjoy working out. I used to absolutely hate it, but here is one reason why I like it.I go there with a 40 minute job to do. Nobody distracts me. I either succeed or I fail. When it is over, it is over. It’s all up to me and I’m the only one who can control it.It’s so different that the rest of my life where nothing is ever done. WIth parenting the job never has an ending. I am distracted constantly. | | By: Never a Dull Moment | | |

| | Motivation's Effect on Mental and Physical Health | | 2008-06-14 18:51:28 | | Many studies have been done to research the effects of motivation and mental health. As the implications of helping those with negative self-esteem, depression and anxiety are immense this is certainly an area of research that deserves a great deal of attention.Psychology Online reports on a study investigating the differences between INTERNAL and EXTERNAL MOTIVATION. The report states that "Although our society is largely extrinsically-motivated by external rewards such as money, fame and power, research has indicated those who are intrinsically-motivated by inner desires for creativity, fulfillment and inner satisfaction are psychologically healthier and happier."How can this help you?The study of health psychology seeks to understand how our ability to cope with stress can help us to prevent illness and promote health. Some of these coping mechanisms are naturally inborn but may be taught to those who lack them. | | Motivation: The Key To Lifelong Weight Loss And Health | | 2008-06-05 04:30:14 | | A client of meine recently dropped me an email with the following question:"How do I keep myself motivated? I've recently been on a bit of a downward spiral, and I'm trying to pullmyself out of it. Is there a workout routine or some kind of mental exercise I could do to make myself more psyched and into things? Thanks!"This is common in both fitness and weight loss programs. Being human we all have our ups and downs. First, it is important to recognize our human qualities. When this occurs we can slow down and "gowith it" until we feel movtivated again. After all, a good program is to be incorporated into our lifestyle. We want to use it for the rest of our lives and we all go through ups and downs. Find agroove with it and flow along. The important thing here is to not drop your program when you do this, just adjust it until you feel motivated again. The other approach is to set out to find a new motivation. | | Why Creating a Resolution Fuels Motivation | | 2008-05-27 20:22:19 | | By means of something different, everybody is motivated. For any kind of goal, that is the similar. Since their high school reunion is around the corner, someone may want to lose weight, while another may want to discard those extra pounds to get into the mood. Some reasonable goals, incentives, or even the character of the person is typically, what motivates a person to do what he or she does. In order to get good grades, one person may be motivated, or strive, because they need a high GPA, while another person may be motivated to earn high marks since they will get money from a parent.Whether you are looking to lose a few pounds, exercise more to get in better shape or to get your house structured, creating a sense of purpose is the key to motivation. Motivation is difficult without having a sense of purpose. Without a reason, your goals are not clear and your outcome that you are working towards will be harder to reach. Many different things may motivate a person, but the reason why | | By: tips n trick diets success | | |

| | The Secret to Instant and Lasting Motivation | | 2008-05-12 06:06:42 | | Do you have a list of goals and desires that have yet to be fulfilled? Do you find yourself generating exciting new ideas only to find that you lose the motivation to complete them shortly after you get started? Perhaps you talk yourself out of that great new idea even before you even begin to pursue it.The good news is that there is a very simple yet powerful technique that you can adopt immediately to help you commit to completion. The technique is called decision.Proper decision making ability is a vital life skill that many people fail to develop at all. At first glance, this idea may seem trivial and possibly not useful but consider the context of this discussion. When I talk about decision, I refer to someone's personal commitment to the completion of a set objective. For some people, the simple act of making a binding agreement with themselves is enough to get the job done. For the majority of people, however, a more bold approach to decision making can be applied for maximu | | By: Motorvational Blogs | | |

| | Fitness Motivation | | 2008-04-02 08:15:00 | | You go to the gym every day because of two common reasons in most cases: either you really want to lose weight or you want to keep your achieved weight the same. Either ways, it is a process of “I need to” and not “I like to”. And what is really to like? Sweating? Exhausting yourself indoors like a caged rodent? Well no, but its results are greater than that discomfort and by the end of your program you can look in the mirror and think that you’ve achieved something more by getting in shape and being healthy. It’s quite hard to get in that great shape you want but in the end it’s worth it. All sorts of fitness gyms try to make your workout as fun and pleasant as possible – I’m sure you like the active music that pumps you up and gives you the energy to keep on stretching. If you do not like it you can always go for an MP3 player to enhance your workout environment. You also get a personal trainer in these gyms, so you are provided with the feeling that you are cared for | | By: Great Bodies | | |

| | Where do you get that motivation to keep going? | | 2007-12-03 15:43:26 | | It’s all very well saying that you need to have various personal characteristics to get on in business or indeed in life but not everyone starts out with the full set of those personal characteristics in their arsenal.
Of course, that’s fine unless you find yourself, say, wanting to start a business but don’t have that [...] | | By: Foreign Perspectives | | |
| | Sometimes Motivation Has to be Felt | | 2007-10-25 06:10:30 | | Motivation is a funny thing. You can try to encourage people by telling them the benefits of this, that or the other, but sometimes it’s just not enough. You’ve got to make them “feel” it. If you craft your message right, you can do just that using words only.

| | Corporate Gifts as one of the oldest management techniques to of motivation its employees | | 2007-09-22 16:25:30 | | For all those who innocently enquire- why would a profit hungry corporation start distributing corporate gifts to anybody, here is some information that will come as a surprise. Distribution of Corporate gifts has been one of the oldest management techniques to either motivate its employees or reach out to the customers. How does giving gifts help?Corporate gifts are effective in boosting employee morale and popularizing the image of the company amongst its customers. The logic behind the concept of corporate gifts is very simple. Everybody loves a free lunch. Everybody loves to get something for nothing in return. Whenever people get a gift from somebody, they feel very happy about the whole thing. The gift may be something as small as a toffee or something as big as a vacations package for two. What use can gifts be put to in corporations?Imagine you are the employee of a huge corporation. You are one of the many hundred persons working in your department. The entire department works as a team to contribute to the success of the company. However, you are not very satisfied with the job. There is absolutely no sense of achievement. You feel as if you are nothing but a nameless and faceless cog in a huge machine. You feel that your work is not valued at all. You feel frustrated but cannot quit because the pay is good. You walk into the office to see your name on the notice board. You and your colleagues have been awarded ten percent additional payment for the wonderful work done by the department on the previous project. How do you feel? In word- recognized. You feel great that somebody up there appreciated the work done by you- not with words alone but in a material way. Further, the notice says that ten best employees will win an all expenses paid trip for two to… Paris. I can bet my last dollar that you and your teammates will work your heart out to win that prize. The end result that your hard worked results in a huge boost in the companies earnings. How did this | | By: Gifts For All | | |

| | Weight Loss Motivation Guidelines (Part 1) | | 2007-06-13 21:29:00 | | By: Anne CollinsIntroductionIf there is one thing that all dietitians and obesity experts agree on, it is that personal motivation is the foundation of all weight loss success. No matter how healthy the diet-plan, or what combination of calories and nutrition it contains, it won't help anyone lose weight unless they follow it for long enough. Their willingness to do so depends entirely on how motivated they are to change their eating and exercise habits in order to achieve their weight loss goals.Motivation Advice Hard To FindThe Internet offers a bewildering array of diets and weight loss eating plans, but advice on motivation when dieting is in extremely short supply. Given the strong link between diet-compliance and motivation, this lack of motivational help is surprising to say the least. It may stem from the fact that many diets are created by people who lack hands-on experience of helping people to manage their weight. Perhaps they see weight loss as a biological rather than a human process. If so, I think it's a mistake.Motivating Yourself To Lose WeightI tell all my clients that starting a weight loss diet is like starting a journey. And like any journey it requires preparation. We need to look ahead and plan how to overcome problems that occur along the way. By doing this we take control of the process and greatly increase our chances of success.Unfortunately, many dieters don't plan ahead. Instead, they take things as they come, and rely upon two things: their initial enthusiasm, and (when this wears off) their willpower. But enthusiasm and willpower aren't enough to overcome the temptations and difficulties which we face when we try to change our eating habits and lifestyle.Stop for a moment and imagine taking your family on a camping trip. Do you rely on your enthusiasm and willpower for food and shelter? Of course not. In all probability you spend hours beforehand carefully packing and preparing for every eventuality, and the whole trip is carefully planned out in advance.Yet when you start a diet-journey, many of you set off without any kind of planning or preparation. It's as if you are convinced that everything will go smoothly. But let's face it, what diet ever runs smoothly? Answer: none! So what happens when we encounter a big problem? Answer: we wobble, and often quit.We Need To Plan New Thinking HabitsPlanning a diet-journey doesn't involve packing equipment, it involves packing "new thoughts". We need to rehearse and adopt new ways of thinking in order to overcome problems during our journey. This isn't psycho-babble - this is plain common sense. After all, successful dieting is largely a matter of motivation and attitude. It's about what goes on between our ears! The Most Common Dieting ProblemThe most common problem we face when dieting is boredom. This typically occurs when our initial enthusiasm for losing weight wears off, and we become tired of watching what we eat. We become dispirited, and slightly depressed at the idea of having to maintain our "sensible eating habits" while everyone else seems to be having a good time.Losing Direction Leads To BoredomWe get bored when we lose our sense of direction. So to overcome it, we need to reestablish exactly where we are going. Remember, dieting is not an aimless process, it's a journey from A to B. Here's how we think when we lose direction:"I'm really bored with dieting, it's such a pain. I don't have any freedom any more. I can't eat this, I can't eat that... I'm fed up. I can't share food with the girls at work, I can't eat at my favorite restaurants, I have to keep saying No to food when I visit friends, I have to watch my family eating in front of me, I don't have time to exercise properly, I'm never going to lose weight and I'm feeling really miserable. Heck! Life is too short for this..."This kind of thinking is totally demotivating. It focuses exclusively on the negative aspects of dieting and signals complete aimlessness. No weight loss goal is achievable when we think like this.A Better Way of Thinking- continued in the next postArticle Source:http://www.article-search-online.com | | By: Healthy Diets | | |
| | Weight Loss Motivation Guidelines (Part 2) | | 2007-06-13 14:44:00 | | A Better Way of ThinkingNow let me show you some better alternatives. Please compare them with the above example.Example 1"Hmm, my diet isn't going so good. But I'm not going to make excuses. I've wasted enough time making excuses to myself. From now on, no matter what happens, I'm going to be honest with myself. So what do I want? I want to lose weight and get myself into shape. Why? Because I really want that beach holiday (or other very selfish goal) which I promised myself. I want it so bad I can touch it! Okay, so I need to learn how to eat properly - big deal! I can easily do this if I put my mind to it. Heck! Eating good food isn't difficult. What's difficult is seeing myself being overweight for the rest of my life. I want something better. Something a lot better than a fistful of nachos or a dollop of fatty dessert."Example 2"Hmm, my diet isn't going so good. So let me remind myself why I'm dieting. All my life I've been eating to please other people. My mom said "eat | | By: Healthy Diets | | |
| | | Motivation - Rewards Quotes - Mark Twain | | 2007-05-17 16:56:00 | | “Tom said to himself that it was not such a hollow world, after all. He had discovered a great law of human action, without knowing it – namely, that in order to make a man or a boy covet a thing, it is only necessary to make the thing difficult to attain. If he had been a great and wise philosopher, like the writer of this book, he would now have comprehended that Work consists of whatever a body is obliged to do, and that Play consists of whatever a body is not obliged to do.”Mark Twain (1835 – 1910) U.S. humorist and writer

| | MILLIONAIRE SECRETS - Easy Motivation | | 2007-05-09 16:26:00 | | EASY MOTIVATIONLooking for a few tips and tricks to get that motivation flowing? We've got you covered! Throw a handful of the tips below into your daily routine and you'll be up and running in no time at all.1. It's Never Too Late. No matter how old you may be, the time to pursue your goals and dreams is right now. It might not be as easy to chase them down as it was ten years ago, but if you wait another ten, it's going to be twice as hard. No matter your age, start today.2. See It & You'll Believe It. Spend ten minutes a day, at least three times per week, imagining yourself taking action toward and achieving your goal. Make the pictures and scenes you create in your mind as vivid as possible and in no time you'll be motivated to bring those pictures to life.3. Phone a Friend. Make a list of three people that you've found to be both encouraging and supportive as well as willing to challenge you and hold you to your word. | | MILLIONAIRE SECRETS - Daily Motivation | | 2007-05-04 14:34:00 | | DAILY MOTIVATIONFocus on one thing at a time. The first thing to do is bring your desire for change into focus. With too many factors racing through your mind at a single time, things can quickly become too cluttered, to chaotic, and too overwhelming. Think of one thing, and one thing only, that you wish to change about your life. It doesn't have to be a large goal; it's actually better to begin with something very small. You may have several ideas in mind, but for now you must decide on a single goal and put the others aside.Take the smallest step. Far too many people have been fooled by the myth of the overnight success. They believe achieving a goal is built upon massive steps and superhuman strength. Nothing could be farther from the truth. The reality is that success is built upon a combination of tiny steps taken in the right direction. It's a phone call, a new book read, or a jog around the block. It is the small things you do each day that bring you success, steps that anyon | | By: The Millionaire Secrets | | |

| | The Song Incident: An Exercise in Poor Motivation Tactics | | 2007-04-11 19:33:00 | | It’s 10:00am on a Thursday morning and my co-workers and I were gathered together for our department meeting. I was a manager of a three person scheduling and forecasting group. As we all sat down to review the agenda for the meeting, we noticed the first agenda item was titled: Motivation. As I looked around the room, I could tell that everyone was intrigued by the mystery of what “Motivation” meant on the agenda. Maybe it could be some type of bonus or incentive program, I thought to myself. Our department head entered the room, sat down and began the meeting. “I want to start off this meeting with something that will inspire and motivate all of you.” She then reaches to her side and placed a small CD player boom box on the table and hit play. She closed her eyes and let out a big sigh. The song “I Hope You Dance” by Lee Ann Womack begins to play. I looked around the room and saw a few people physically moved by the song.
