| What? It’s Friday already? | | 2008-08-15 10:19:00 | | Yes, it’s true… it’s Friday which means weigh-in day! I’m actually excited because this will make three weeks in a row that I am down - 2.2 to be exact So.... how did you all do this week?
Continuing the Olympic theme that Queenie started yesterday, as you all know Michael Phelps is like the Olympic God of swimming… well of all sports really. Anyhow, they were saying how much he eats and how many calories he consumes. Just think about this - he burns off 4,000 calories in ONE workout. Granted, his workout is probably like 4 hours long or whatever, but 4,000 calories! When they talked about how much he ate they mentioned that he eats both a pound of pasta for both lunch and dinner along with a full cheese pizza… I’m guessing that is his snack?

The Cubs have had a variety of injuries this spring. So far, infielder Mark DeRosa was hospitalized with an irregular heartbeat, pitcher Jose Ascanio had a bruised face after getting punched in a robbery attempt, and outfielder Felix Pie missed a couple of days early because of a twisted testicle. Third baseman Aramis Ramirez remains sidelined with a sore right shoulder.

| Report: Cubs sign Cintron | | 2008-02-18 16:15:00 | | According to Bruce Levine, the Cubs have signed Alex Cintron. Cintron immediately becomes the back-up infield help the Cubs were rumored to be interested in at one point. Levine also recently said the Cubs had interest in Cintron if they were to trade Ronny Cedeno in a deal to get Brian Roberts so it seems possible, perhaps likely at this point, that the Cubs and O’s are making some progress in their offseason long talks.
Also, considering Hendry’s desire to acquire another player before the first full-squad workout, it makes sense that there could be something else going on.
[UPDATE @ 10:30 AM] It was also reported that it was a minor league deal, which probably just means that “in case they trade Cedeno†they’ve covered their ass at shortstop as far as back-ups go.

| Salve a tutti!  Oggi andrò... | | 2007-05-17 16:28:24 | | Salve a tutti! Oggi andrò un po' fuori tema rispetto al solito, ma non posso non parlare di un evento così importante qui a Brescia, probabilmente l'evento più importante di tutto l'anno, ossia la Mille Miglia!

La corsa venne ideata e organizzata dai conti Aymo Maggi e Franco Mazzotti, si dice in risposta alla mancata assegnazione a Brescia, loro città natale, del Gran Premio d'Italia. Insieme ad un gruppo di ricchi sostenitori fu scelto un percorso a forma di "otto" da Brescia a Roma e ritorno, su una distanza di circa 1.600 km (corrispondenti a circa mille miglia, da cui il nome). Nelle successive edizioni il tracciato fu modificato per tredici volte. La prima edizione partì il 26 marzo 1927, con la partecipazione di settantasette equipaggi, due soli dei quali stranieri (al volante delle piccole Peugeot 5 HP spider).
