| Negotiating for a Pay Rise, the Three Stages of Negotiation | | 2008-08-09 12:17:36 | | 'We all want our bosses to pay us better. That is certain. However, if you do not communicate your intentions for better pay, your boss may not get the message. You will have to take matters into your own hands and negotiate for the pay rise that you deserve. But how do you do this? You will first have to understand some aspects in the negotiation process. Recall in a previous post, i gave an introduction to negotiation. What is negotiation anyway? How is negotiation defined?Well, negotiation is defined as a process between two or more parties in which they consider alternatives to arrive at a mutually agreeable solution(s) or reach mutually satisfactory objectives. We need to treat negotiation as an agreeable process. Without it, you cannot do or achieve what you want.View negotiation as a process. Without the other party, you cannot achieve what you want.Treat negotiation as an opportunity to work together to achieve a mutual goal that would have been impossible for either one person to ... | | By: Better Interpersonal Communication | | |

| Pakistan and Delusions about Negotiating on Jihad | | 2008-08-01 18:45:30 | | Would America find it a shocking news revelation if a white supremacist organization had members supporting Ku Klux Klan terrorism? Would the FBI go to white supremacist political groups to fight the Ku Klux Klan, or seek white supremacist leaders to convince KKK members to change their thinking? But when it comes to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Taliban, and Jihadist organizations around the world, this type of nonsensical thinking has become a common argument among many international relations...(read more)... | | By: An American Warning | | |

| Dolphins Negotiating With Jake Long | | 2008-04-09 22:22:00 | | Many of you have probably seen the Herald story regarding the Dolphins opening up negotiations with Jake Long. This could be a sign of many things. It could mean the first thing that comes to mind: that the Dolphins like Jake Long and plan on making him their #1 pick. The chatter around the NFL has been that Jake is the newest frontrunner for the selection if Miami cannot trade down. That's fine. We need a LT badly and it would solidify our line with Smiley, Satele and Carey for years to come. The Michigan LT would probably be the best fit for the team right now. However, it doesn't necessarily mean he is the target. He could just happen to be the first player the Dolphins have contacted. Maybe it's a ploy to drive down someone else's price, namely the guy we are really after. At this point, it's supposedly down to the two Long's and Matt Ryan.Salguero says Ryan is not an option, and I believe him. Ryan is not a top selection. All the buzz surrounding him and the #1 pick is ridiculous. T... | | By: State of Miami | | |

| North Korea Tests Short Range Missiles; North Korean Negotiating Strategy | | 2008-03-29 13:56:18 | | ABC News: North Korea Tests Short Range MissilesSummary and analysisNorth Korea test launched several short range missiles yesterday, in a not-so-veiled response to South Korean Unification Minister Kim Ha-joong’s comments. The North Koreans also kicked out South Korean diplomats. The South Korean government downplayed the missile launch, in their own not-so-veiled attempt at not provoking the North Koreans any further.North Korea’s attempt at attentionKim Jong-Il controls NK almost like a child would. Ever since the Soviet Union fell, he has resorted to provoking the U.S., South Korea, Japan, and China, in order to create divisions among the four so it can achieve its primary goal: regime survival. The promising nuclear deal appeared last year to signal the end to one of Kim’s regime’s strongest cards: the nuclear one. Now, it seems not so much (for several reasons; one of which is the fact that some in Washington believe North Korea sent nuclear technology to Syria).South Kor... | | By: Thoughts on the World | | |

| Forsberg not negotiating with NHL teams | | 2007-08-04 16:34:39 | | Unrestricted free agent forward Peter Forsberg told Finnish media on Thursday that he hasn’t had any contract discussions with any NHL clubs this off-season, according to Adrian Dater of the Denver Post.

Forsberg, who was speaking from a charity hockey game in Helsinki, told reporters that he has not even made up his mind on whether he will play in the NHL this season.
Even tough his surgically repaired ankle is feeling “good” at the moment, the Swedish forward would like to test it out and make sure it is “healthy enough to withstand the rigors of an NHL season” before deciding on his playing future.
Recent speculation has the Colorado Avalanche and Detroit Red Wings being among a number of teams very much interested in acquiring Forsberg’s services.
The Avalanche have about $5.6 million left to spend under the salary cap, while the Red Wings have between approximately $4 and $6 million.

However, the club now has the option of offering him “less than the $605,000 qualifying offer.”
It’s expected that Jokinen will not “accept an offer at that range or lower,” as he is looking for “a contract significantly higher than that.”

| Actual Darwin Walker News - Bills, Walker Negotiating | | 2007-06-09 05:43:34 | | Walker wants to be a Bill After weeks of endless speculation about whether or not Bills DT Darwin Walker would sign a deal and report to camp or whether he'd go back to Philadelphia, we finally have some hard news on the situation... sort of. The AP reports that Walker and the Bills are talking contract, with the goal being Walker's attendance at the team's first minicamp. With that camp starting Monday June 11, that gives the two sides just one weekend to reach a deal. Most Bills fans are familiar with the situation, so this will be brief - Walker was acquired in the deal that sent Takeo Spikes and Kelly Holcomb to Philadelphia. The Bills received Walker and a 2008 7th-round pick in the deal. Walker was acquired by the Bills with the knowledge that if he did not receive a restructured contract, he would hold out - prompting Marv Levy to write a stipulation into the trade that if Walker did not report to the Bills by August 5th, he would go back to Philad... | | By: Buffalo Rumblings | | |

Negotiation is the process of communication back and forth in order to reach a joint agreement. Many of our clients have been very experienced negotiators, and we have learned a great deal from them, as well as from books on the subject. We would like to share some of our thoughts on negotiating with you:
