Nessun inciucio. Nessun trappolone agli elettori. | Newsweek Calls Edwards the “Sleeper Candidate” | | 2007-12-17 18:18:47 | | Screen shot from JohnEdwards.com featuring him on the cover of Newsweek in which they call him "The Sleeper" candidate who could win in Iowa. John Edwards has strong support in Iowa but does not get the media attention that Obama or Clinton gets on the trail. This past week John Edwards was on the cover of Newsweek in which they called him “The Sleeper” candidate. John Edwards usually comes in a very close third in most polls in Iowa behind Clinton and Obama but has a very good chance of winning in Iowa according to Newsweek. While the media focuses on Clinton and Obama they are missing out on Edwards who is known for working harder than anyone else. Edwards campaign bus the “Main Street Express”, which runs on bio-diesel, has visited all 99 counties in Iowa. According to Newsweek, the significance of visiting all of the counties is that all of the precincts get the same amount of delegates. While Obama and Clinton focus on the larger cities Edwards is vis | | By: The Mersman Political Blog | | |
| | Yet Another IPhone Review: Newsweek’s Steven Levy Loves the iPhone | | 2007-06-27 17:52:40 | | Heavy weather and an unexpected overnight stay in Pittsburgh gave Newsweek tech whiz Steven Levy ample time to play around with the iPhone. How’d he spend his time? Doing what anyone would do, really: e-mail, get help negotiating downtown, check the weather, keep tabs on some sports, listen to music, and, of course, check out YouTube. And all on a single battery charge. He did find some faults, but not much that the other guys hadn’t also caught.
Levy found the controls to be pretty intuitive. Without consulting the manual, he managed to find his way around the phone well enough. The only obstacle he came up against was typing, which “requires some concentration,” though Levy admits he’s not much of a two-thumb typist.
Another concern, the battery life, passed Levy’s test, as he said it only wound down noticeably when he watched videos or browsed the web heavily. When he didn’t, the iPhone was good for the day, with a recharge overn | | By: Information Popular Technologies Review | | |
| | Newsweek on Nashi, Mestnye Marches | | 2007-05-22 01:11:00 | | Nashi’s actions during the “Bronze Soldier” fiasco has without a doubt increased its political statue in Russia. As a result Western media is beginning to take more notice. For example, take this week’s edition of Newsweek International where one of their main articles is a feature on Nashi titled “Putin’s Powerful Youth Guard.” The article paints an ominous picture of Nashi where its members are “highly disciplined and lavishly sponsored” and “a bona fide private army fanatically loyal to one man, the president.” There are passing comparisons to the Komsomol and the Hitler Youth. To their credit, the article's authors claim that the latter is an “overstatement” because while Nashi may be “fanatically loyal to Putin” they are really only a “sinister parody of democracy movements in Ukraine and elsewhere.” I assume that their “sinister parady of democracy” lies in Nashi’s propensity to through the word “fascist” around without rega | | By: Sean's Russia Blog | | |
