| Next generation of in-car tech may be sponsored by advertisers | | 2008-05-28 12:51:00 | | Not surprisingly, young car buyers want their new cars filled with as much technology as possible. Specifically, navigation systems and in-car telematics like Ford's SYNC and General Motors' OnStar are highly desirable among 16-24 year-old car buyers. As it turns out, though, it is that same demographic that is least willing to pay for these features. So, what's the solution? Advertising. As we've noted before, the chances seem good that at some point in the not-too-distant future, our navigation screens will show us local spots with preference given to those establishments that have paid for placement. Not everyone is likely to be happy about this trend. Besides the irritation of a constant barrage of advertisements, there is also a danger in letting your car know too much about you. If your vehicle were to track your movements, or even purchases made from inside your vehicle, that information could be made available to other organizations. Those concerned that "Big Brother" is watchin... | | By: Car News | | |

| Buzz Marketing: Windows 7 next generation of Windows | | 2008-05-28 01:32:27 | | Microsoft has been so successful by constantly making its old product redundant but it has failed to do so with Windows Vista which has not been as successful in replacing a much more stable Windows XP. Now Microsoft has started creating buzz for its next product which is named so far as Windows 7 and is due for release in 2010 it seems to be inspired by the success of touchscreen based Apple Ipod and Iphones and they have revealed a multi touch interface. In Technology marketing there is always a scope for creating buzz by reaching out to early adopters and passionate tech users who can spread the word through word of mouth and Microsoft has done it quite well with releasing small videos and leaking pics of various interfaces well before the actual launch. Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer revealed about Windows 7 at All Things Digital Conference and added to the buzz by revealing a small video.Microsoft however had to face the enormous expectations built up through this kind of buzz buil... | | By: Marketing & technology in India | | |

| Data Recovery 2.0! The Next Generation of Data Recovery | | 2008-05-27 10:47:00 | | Data Recovery 2.0! The Next Generation of Data RecoveryUnbelievably, less than 10% of all computer users actually have a backup of their hard drives. With the price of hard drives continually falling, one can easily get a 500Gb hard drive for less than .25 on the Gigabyte. Yet the lack of backup trend continues.Hard drives are mechanical, which means they can fail, and they do. Furthermore, hard drive data encoding is done using magnetic media. This fact alone should send off warning signals and alarms. think of the cassette tape and how easily it can be erased simply by placing it in proximity to a speaker, or a magnet. Have any cassette tapes stored away for a few years? Dig them out and see if they still have anything on them, I'll bet they don't.Data loss is painful, speaking from experience. I still have hard drives with data on them that I cannot retrieve. The only option remaining for me is to purchase the services of a data recovery company, and trust me, I have exhausted ... | | By: PC and Technology - tips, reviews and how to's | | |

| Intel readies the next generation of PC chips | | 2007-02-12 08:55:00 | | SAN FRANCISCO: Intel will demonstrate an experimental computer chip Monday with 80 separate processing engines, or cores, that company executives said provided a model for commercial chips that would be used widely in standard desktop, laptop and server computers within five years. While the chip is not compatible with Intel's current chips, the company said it had already begun design work on a commercial version that would essentially have dozens or even hundreds of Intel-compatible microprocessors laid out in a tiled pattern on a single chip. The chip design is intended to exploit a generation of manufacturing technology that the company introduced last month. Intel said it had changed the basic design of transistors in such a way that it would be able to continue to shrink them — offering lower power and higher speeds — for at least another half decade or more.Nitan Borkar, one of the chip's designers, showed an air-cooled computer based on the chip running a simple scientific ... | | By: blogtech | | |
