| 2007 NFL Draft Report: NFC Losers | | 2007-05-20 04:12:59 | | Three Biggest Draft Losers in the NFC2007-nfl-draftBy James Polifroni3. SeahawksThe Seahawks did not select until the second round, 55th overall. With that, they took speedy cornerback Josh Wilson out of Maryland. Wilson did run a great 40 at the combine, but besides being a potential help to their return game, the former Terp will not give enough help in the defensive backfield to warrant a team’s first overall selection. For personal reasons, I followed Maryland football for the past two seasons. Besides one impressive kick return this past year against Clemson, Wilson rarely demonstrated the speed that his sub 4.4 40-time would suggest. Seattle is in need of playmakers on the defensive side of the ball, and with only two interceptions his senior year and four in total, I don’t know if Wilson will provide them with the big plays they need. I think Marcus McCauley, who is a local kid from Fresno State, would have been a more logical selection at this point.Another possible disappoi | | By: The NFL Draft Site | | |

Round 1 #17 DE Jarvis Moss, FloridaRound 2 #56 DE Tim Crowder, TexasRound 3 #70 OT Ryan Harris, Notre DameRound 4 #121 DL Marcus Thomas, Florida
Overall Grade: B
Fantasy Outlook: The Broncos stampeded into the draft like they had somewhere else to be, and they traded some picks around to ensure that they were able to select the four players they wanted. Denver obviously devoted their attention on beefing up the defensive line selecting Jarvis Moss, Tim Crowder, and Marcus Thomas. The trio all have a legitimate chance to be starters immediately on a defense that is certainly worth a look in fantasy.

Overall Grade: C
Fantasy Outlook: The Texans once again opted to improve their defensive line with their first pick in the draft. Amobi Okoye will join forces with Mario Williams to form a formidable defensive front. Houston is starting to put together a defense that warrants some fantasy consideration. Jacoby Jones could develop into a nice find in the third round as he has the ability to blow by most defenders. Jones possess the skill and elusiveness to turn the short receptions into very long plays. Indianapolis Colts

Overall Grade: C+Fantasy Outlook: The Ravens wanted to improve their offensive line in the draft and Ben Grubbs and Marshal Yanda make an excellent duo to start the rebuilding process. The aforementioned guards should help newly acquired Willis McGahee rack up some yards in the running game. Yamon Figurs is an intriguing project as a wide receiver that can help out immediately in the return game. Figurs has the natural ability to score every time he touches the ball, and his potential as a punt returner puts the Ravens defense/special teams once again in the upper echelon in fantasy. Overall Grade: B+
Fantasy Outlook: The Bills had a very respectable draft, selecting Marshawn Lynch in the first round to replace the departed Willis McGahee. Lynch has the perfect blend of size and speed, and he should have the opportunity to start right away. Therefore, he warrants strong consideration in fantasy. Buffalo also landed two potential starters on defense in Paul Posluszny and John Wendling. Both Posluszny and Wendling are hard workers and are almost always in the right position to make plays. The Bills should be an improved defense that will be worth a look in fantasy. Trent Edwards will compete for the starting quarterback job, but even if he does | | By: DR U Fantasy Football GURU | | |
| | 2007 NFL Draft Report Card-NFC West | | 2007-05-04 14:00:00 | | Arizona Cardinals
Round 1 #5 OT Levi Brown, Penn StateRound 2 #33 DT Alan Branch, MichiganRound 3 #69 LB Buster Davis, Florida StateRound 5 #142 WR Steve Breaston, MichiganRound 7 #215 TE Ben Patrick, Delaware
Overall Grade: A
Fantasy Outlook: The Cardinals had the kind of draft not even their fans thought was possible. All five draftees have more than a legitimate chance of playing key roles on the team. Even if Arizona wanted Joe Thomas, they still landed a solid lineman in Levi Brown, and he should really help improve the running game. Speaking of helping in the running game, Ben Patrick will do just that and was an outstanding value in the seventh round. Alan Branch was a steal in the second round, and likewise Buster Davis in third round. Both players can only help a mediocre fantasy defense. Steve Breaston will make their special teams better immediately. Arizona clearly cleaned house in this year's draft obtaining excellent talent in key areas of need. Overall Grade: A
Fantasy Outlook: Jamaal Anderson and Chris Houston should be able to step right in and help elevate a middle of the road fantasy defense. Justin Blalock and Doug Datish will be asked to improve an offensive line that has been deteriorating over the last few seasons. The duo will help give the Falcons the solid pass protection that they have been lacking. Jason Snelling was a great value pick in the last round as he can do it all, run for the short yardage needed, lead block very well, and even catch the ball out of the backfield. Overall Grade: B-
Fantasy Outlook: Greg Olsen was a nice selection by the Bears, and he should be able to make an immediate impact. His ability to stretch the middle of the field not only increases his fantasy value, it also improves the stock of Cedric Benson and Bernard Berrian. Garrett Wolfe is a bit undersized, but his elusiveness makes him a threat to score every time he touches the ball. Wolfe will likely be utilized as more of a third down back, which means he may not get enough touches to warrant any fantasy consideration in his rookie season. Fantasy Outlook: The Cowboys possessed a formidable fantasy defense in 2006 until Greg Ellis was injured. After Ellis was sidelined with the aforementioned injury, the Dallas defense belonged on the bench in fantasy. The addition of Anthony Spencer, a solid pass rusher to lineup opposite DeMarcus Ware, will make the Dallas defense a viable fantasy option in 2007. The two offensive linemen (James Marten and Doug Free) will likely begin their career on the bench behind a vastly improved offensive line that should open up some holes for Julius Jones and Marion Barber III in the running game.
