| 2009 Nissan Murano and Sentra Prices Boost | | 2008-07-11 11:13:00 | | NASHVILLE, Tennessee — Nissan North America has announced that it is increasing prices on the 2009 Murano and 2008 Sentra, as well as boosting destination and handling charges on all 2008 and '09 Nissan and Infiniti vehicles. The exception is the Nissan GT-R, which went on sale in the U.S. on Monday.The base 2009 Murano S now starts at $29,250, including a $780 destination charge, with the "interim pricing adjustments," Nissan said in a statement.Previously the 2009 Nissan Murano S started at $28,675, including a $745 destination charge. When the 2009 Murano went on sale in January, Nissan said it was priced $1,500 less than the previous-generation Murano.Pricing on the 2008 Nissan Sentra increases by $135. This thing looks like it's suffering from the world's worst migraine.To signal, I suppose, the model-year face-lift, Nissan designers gave the 2009 Murano a tensed chrome brow, a fierce furrowing that is, actually, quite a bit more aggressive than anything else in the Nissan garage. Compared to the new Murano, the lava-breathing GT-R has the countenance of the Buddha. I suppose my question is, does it convey aggression, really, or something akin to consternation, or constipation? This is the look I get when I listen to Kenny Chesney sing or when I eat heavy German food.

Spy photos taken during hot weather testing in Spain were widely circulated on the net yesterday and identified as the next generation Nissan Murano. However, a closer look at the photos reveals that this vehicle is in fact the production version of a vehicle that was shown by Renault at last fall’s Paris Motor Show called the Koleos concept.
The Koleos is being developed by Renault in conjunction with Korean partner Samsung. It is expected to be produced by Samsung in 2008 for sale under both the Renault and Samsung brands.The platform was developed with Nissan and it would not be surprising to learn that it’s shared with the Nissan Rogue, which was revealed in production form at the Detroit Auto Show last January.

Dressing up US-market imports to look like their JDM counterparts is nothing new. It’s just a relatively easy way to give a ride a different look that’s still “stock” at its core. The Infiniti G35 is a good example, as we’ve seen a few very nicely done Skylineizations that visually transform the car into the Japan-market Nissan. The changes are usually subtle — badging and maybe a couple of trim differences — but they’re enough to make the car stand out to observers in the know.
Nissan is apparently aware enough of this that it’s going to tap into that sentiment for one of its new JDM Murano offerings.
