| Notre Dame QB Drinks Beer! Life of as we know it is irrevocably altered | | 2008-08-05 11:43:25 | | What do the US, Oman, Indonesia, Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates have in common?Well, nothing, apart from a legal drinking age of 21, the highest in the world. To put it another way, the US is the only non-Muslim country we're aware of (though in some parts of the Ukraine, they enforce the age of 21 though by all accounts it's roundly ignored) where to consume a beer, you must be old enough to earn a college degree. Since many so-called 'student athletes' don't, we figure they just enjoy the college experience (the aspects unrelated to the taking of actual courses), in the limited time that they have.Members of the Notre Dame football team (seen here) were cutting loose in a rousing game of Beer Pong, a time-honored college tradition, and for some reason, this non-event made its way into the pages of the Chicago Tribune, among others. Now, to be fair, The Fighting Irish (a bizarre name for a team whose college name translates to 'Our Lady' in French, but to be more fair, being Fren | | By: The Shark Guys | | |

| | Notre Dame at Twilight, Paris | | 2008-07-02 09:30:13 | | Notre Dame at Twilight, Paris, originally uploaded by Rita Crane Photography.Notre Dame is one of my favorite places of Paris. When I lived there years ago I used to go inside to sit down and enjoy the cool darkness and the quiet. Recently when I visit Paris, I still visit Notre Dame at least once, to go listen to the soprano singing vespers and just to Be there. It has nothing to do with religion, and everything to do with the amazing beauty of this structure, and the energy there that has grown over the centuries as people of all faiths and walks of life have gone inside to connect with something ineffable but tangible, and greater than themselves. Just a fantastic space!! And if you have a chance to be there around 5:30 or 6:00 PM sit down and wait for the soprano to come sing solo accompanied by the organ, and let the sound wash through you. It is exquisitely beautiful....although I don't understand the Latin words, the feeling is so very very sincere and moving. Adrian Wilson - Arizona: " One of the most exciting defensive players in recent Notre Dame defensive history, Zbikowski has proven himself to be a game breaker with 7 career touchdowns (3 punt returns, 2 interception returns, 2 fumble returns). Whether he can return to his dominant form of 2005 where he garnered several all-American honors remains to be seen. If a team can figure out how to best use his unique set of skills, something the coached at Notre Dame seemed to struggle with, he could be an impact player at the next level both on defense and in the return game."
There is a considerable lack of consensus about where Zbikowski will fit in the NFL. Some sites put him as a second round prospect and put the emphasis on the team that drafts him to use his unique sk | | By: Big Cat Country - An Unoffical Jacksonville Jaguar
| | SB Nation's John Morgan interviews Notre Dame DT Trevor Laws | | 2008-04-22 17:15:57 | |
Fellow SB Nation blogger and Seahawks Fan John Morgan has a fantastic interview over at Field Gulls with Notre Dame Defensive Tackle Trevor Laws.
As you all know, I've got a serious "draft crush" for Laws, I would not bat an eye if the Jaguars selected him at 26. I think he's has a better motor than Kentwan Balmer, and I think he'd be a great fit on our defense.
Anyhow, the interview is very well done. An excerpt
John Morgan: Tell me a bit how you
prepare for an opponent. Do you watch a lot of tape or look at scouting
reports? Any pregame rituals or habits?
Trevor Laws: Most games I have
a pretty similar routine. Eat big the night before the game. Watch
a few hours of film in the hotel. When I get up I make a big cup of
coffee. I eat the same pregame meal every game. I have
pancakes with peanut butter and honey on them. Then I go dominate. JM: Do you develop a feel for an opposing offensive lineman, pick up on their
strengths/weaknesses in game? A | | By: Big Cat Country - An Unoffical Jacksonville Jaguar

| | Notre Dame Looking To Improve O-Line | | 2008-04-10 19:25:00 | | Depending on your perspective and level of cynicism, the Irish's offensive line play last fall was either no laughing matter or entirely laughable the Chicago Tribune reported. Start with the school-record 58 sacks allowed. Then there were 75.3 rushing yards per game, good for 115th nationally. Not all of it is attributable to the line, but it's a fairly damaging collection of evidence. And it provides a daunting perspective this spring: A steep ascent to acceptable production in the fall. "We have a new work ethic, a new attitude," said Dan Wenger, who is moving from guard to center for good this spring. "A little bit of a chip on our shoulders about what happened last year. We don't want to go back.'' Source: Chicago Tribune | | By: Kw's college football rumors | | |

| | YouTube Tuesday: How bad is Notre Dame? | | 2007-09-19 02:45:00 | | Here are the highlights of last Saturday's game between the Notre Dane Fighting Irish and the Michigan Wolverines. I am left wondering whether Michigan has improved or if Notre Dame really, really stinks. | | By: Run for the Roses | | |
| | Cheer, cheer for Old Notre Dame | | 2007-09-17 23:49:58 | | Maybe I'm odd, but after a good Notre Dame drubbing, I like to go around humming the Notre Dame fight song. I only know the first two lines, but everyone knows the tune, right? It's probably because I'm such a smug bastard, but it really lifts my spirits to know that we defeated the Fighting Irish for another year. I know I have a long list of sports enemies, but Notre Dame is at the top of it... I hate them with everything that I have. I at least can understand why some people might be Ohio State fans if they live in Columbus, or Yankees fans if they live in New York, but Notre Dame fans? It's not like anyone actually lives in Indiana... I've been there, I know (more on that soon). And if you do happen to live in Indiana for some odd reason, you should root for Indiana or Purdue or someone like that... even Utah.Moving on to the real reason for this post... we won. Michigan finally got a victory, and did it with conviction. Throughout the day I kept hearing "Is Michigan this good or is Notre Dame just this bad?" on the television. My opinion is that we will see after the Penn State game... But Michigan played much better than they had been, and that's all I really care about. I'm also thinking about breaking out the rubber mallet, painting an block M on it and taking it to the PSU game.I know I should probably have something gloriously bombastic to say about this win, but nothing is coming to mind. Perhaps it is because we're 1-2 and I felt more relief than actual joy and excitement with the victory. All I can say is that there was a grin on my face throughout the entire game and a grin on my face the rest of the day. Wandering around Ann Arbor was amazing, just basking in the afterglow of the win, watching those dejected Irish drunkards stumble around and the drunken screaming of the Michigan students... it was all music to my ears. It was epic and sensational and I could not have asked for a better pick me up. I finally feel like there is something to look forward to. So, ;et's just all think of Mike Hart, the man who willed this team back from Armageddon with the sheer for oh his personality, grit and spirit, and be happy. | | By: Blast Shields Down | | |
| | Notre Dame Sputters Again | | 2007-09-09 17:09:00 | | It was another day to forget for the Fighting Irish on Saturday, as they were beaten soundly by the Penn State Nittany Lions before more than 110,000 fans at State College, Pennsylvania.Freshman Jimmy Clausen (pictured) actually did fairly decently in his first college start. He went 17-for-32 and 144 yards, but could not get Notre Dame into the end zone. They have not scored an offensive TD in their first two games, and are 0-2 for the first time since 2001.Once again, the ND offensive line looked inept, allowing 4 sacks. Clausen was on the run all day. The running game was non-existent, and they gained a grand total of 0 yards on 28 rushes. They are currently in negative yards in total rushing the first two games.Notre Dame actually got off to a good start. They had a nice drive to open the game, but a 50-yard field goal attempt went wide right. Darrin Walls then intercepted a pass from Anthony Morelli and brought it back 78 yards to give the Irish their first lead of the season. But | | By: The Mighty Quinn Media Machine | | |

| | Brady Quinn, QB, Notre Dame | | 2007-04-26 22:57:00 | | If the Browns decide to choose a QB (and I hope they don't), then my choice would be Brady Quinn. While JaMarcus Russell is a tremendously gifted athlete with a cannon for an arm, Brady Quinn is a more polished passer who is more prepared to step into a pro offense.Sentiment has shifted from Quinn to Russell over the past few months, in part due to LSU's bowl win over Notre Dame, but overall Quinn has a longer track record of quality play with a mediocre supporting cast, than Russell has with a better supporting cast. Russell is raw and probably has more upside, but also more potential downside and therefore is the riskier pick. | | By: Dawg Pound South | | |
