| An Observation | | 2008-07-08 12:24:00 | | One of the best skills I had as a social worker was the ability to pick a problem apart to discover the roots of the situation but now this ability is standing in the way of my chance for recovery. A comment I see on a rather regular basis on the different forums that I participate on is to just let the situation go and move on with your life. This is a lot easier said then done and when your brain is wired similar to my own seems almost impossible. Some people are able to deal with a problem just by shrugging it off which is something I was once able to do but not anymore. Before if a situation would arise that mentally I did not want to deal with the first reaction would be to bury it as deep as possible and basically forget or pretend it never happened. This approach worked for a long time until I ran out of room to hide the past. Now I am unable to do this and every single situation in my life is picked a part until my brain is fully satisfied of the reasoning which unfortunatel | | By: UNTREATABLE' S BLOG - Borderline Personality Self | | |

| A Minor Observation | | 2008-07-08 00:41:48 | | I took a little time during my vacation to blog surf some smaller blogs that are representative of the GOP base and found that almost all of them had negative things to say about Obama however none of them had anything positive to say about McCain. Admittedly my sample was small but if it is indeed indicative of a larger trend then McCain is in trouble. It would also explain why McCain is still running to the right while Obama seems to be moving to the center. McCain is in a tricky spot in that his courting of the right turns off the independents while his attempts to woo the center turns off the base. My feeling remains that unless Obama screws the pooch somehow McCain will lose. The only question to me is by what margin. His only chance, in my opinion, is to master Obama's technique of not being specific without appearing to be vague.

| Chimps figure out who's bad by observation | | 2008-03-26 09:58:41 | | Chimpanzees make judgments about the actions and dispositions of strangers by observing others’ behavior and interactions in different situations. Specifically, chimpanzees show an ability to recognize certain behavioral traits and make assumptions about the presence or absence of these traits in strangers in similar situations thereafter.

| an observation... | | 2008-02-29 21:13:46 | | something happened to me last night that has me wondering - what gives??so, what happened, you ask?there I was going home after a great night hanging out in the loooobby. I boarded this local bus going in the direction of my apartment. and as soon as I did, the bus conductor, this lady screams out loud in thai for everybody to hear quote, "THERE'S A FOREIGNER ON THE BUS!" ..when she announced this, I looked around and realized that she must have been talking about me. since I was the only one who was non-thai on the bus, who else could it be??what is going on, you ask?frankly, I don't know. but for sure, something is up. ..MY GUESS - the thai people are in the middle of some major internal discussions about issues that they don't want non-thais to be aware of.for those of you who may think I am paranoid, consider this... if you boarded a bus back home that was packed with americans, and then, when someone from let's say india boards, the bus conductor screamed out loud, "THERES A | | By: Life of a Lounge Lizard | | |

| Watching news inside a movie...an observation | | 2007-10-02 11:06:00 | | This post shares a small observation made related to switching on TVs in movies.Scenario: In a movie, something important is happening and one key person is not at al aware of this. His/her friend/business associate/relative etc calls him/her and asks “tumhne TV nahi dekha” (hindi for: You’ve not watched TV?) Now the person receiving the call says “Nahin, kya hua” (No. What happened?) and then switches on the TV.In all movies, following happens without fail:1. The viewer never needs to change the channel (The TV was set to the channel where the said news is being shown-In real life, there’s always a high probability that you’ll have to ask your caller on which channel the news he/she wants to tell is coming and then you’ll have to navigate to that channel)2. The news item begins from start once the TV is turned on (Usually you should miss initial few lines if you switched on few seconds late)3. They always switch off the TV after hearing one or two lines.(with anger, most of the time) They don’t check what other news channels are showing or call up someone to cross check the information.End of post (No further interpretations) Note: Certain audio video contents may not appear properly in your mailbox. | Random, incoherent observation of the day | | 2007-09-01 03:37:49 | | Yesterday a mosquito reminded me of something that I find inexplicable: why are we able to discover medicines? Cortisone stops the itch of a mosquito bite almost instantaneously. I understand why mosquito bites itch. I also understand how cortisone stops the itch. What I don’t understand is why does cortisone exist? What is the evolutionary [...] | | By: Casey's Critical Thinking | | |

| Review of “Interesting observation†blog | | 2007-08-29 16:10:03 | | “About” page is an introduction page of any site and tells a summary of blogger or about the subject/ purpose of the blog.
“About” is an important pagealso, but whenever I tried to fill up information about myself, it was difficult to say anything about myself. But I really enjoy reading about other blogger’s “about” page.

| Men's "center" vs. Women's "center" in Aikido Practice: A Student's Observation by Sean Hannon | | 2007-08-27 23:16:00 | | It seems to me that there are substantially more men who practice Aikido than women. However, I have observed that women who practice Aikido tend to pick up the subtleties of Aikido's techniques a bit faster than men do. I always wondered why that was? Is it possible that women have a physiologic affinity for Aikido? What might that affinity be?While in grad school, the answer to that question came to me one day in a biomechanics class. It appears there may be a very logical, physics-based answer to my inqury. In Aikido, the power of each technique originates from the hips and pelvic area, not from the hands and arms as so many young Aikido students think. Most men tend to carry their gravitational center in their chest. As such, they also tend to carry their psychological center in their chest. I think it explains why there exists the Hollywood "broad-chested" male hero archetype. Just look at any male comic book or cartoon hero and what do you see? | Observation Implies No Identity. | | 2007-08-25 10:12:00 | | I have been increasingly aware, as of late, of the movement of life as a total living process. By that I mean, awareness seems to have no fixed, separate identity as 'somebody' who is aware of other things separate from itself. There is only one fluid movement. I promise, I am not attempting to describe some extraordinary state, quite the contrary, it feels far more natural than pretending to be

| Knowledge: Where Observation Goes To Die. | | 2007-08-20 18:01:00 | | I hope you find this post as interesting as I do and please forgive the length. Now, before we begin, I must point out that knowledge is not only necessary, but has been an incredible service to humanity. I mean, it's pretty safe to say humanity would not be humanity as we know it without this vast store room of knowledge called memory. And not only memory, but knowledge accumulated over time,

| A Quick Observation | | 2007-05-10 01:30:46 | | Sitting here in my living room, watching yet another painful start to a Rangers game, I realized something: this team can’t win on the road.
Texas is 9-7 at home this year, but just 4-12 on the road. You can put this team in the oven and call them done if they don’t figure out how to start winning games outside of the friendly confines of Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.
In other news, Robinson Tejeda has yet to record an out here in the first inning, with the score 3-0 in favor of the Yankees. It’s beginning to look like once again, the brief glimpse of hope that this team showed against the Blue Jays has been shattered upon the jagged rocks of reality.
