Oneness in our true human context | Thomas Merton
    2008-05-05 19:29:00
"Only when we see ourselves in our true human context, as members of a race which is intended to be one organism and "one body," will we begin to understand the positive importance not only of the successes but of the failures and accidents in our lives. My successes are not my own. The way to them was prepared by others. The fruit of my labors is not my own: for I am preparing the way for the achievements of another. Nor are my failures my own. They may spring from the failure of another, but they are also compensated for by another's achievement. Therefore the meaning of my life is not to be looked for merely in the sum total of my achievements. It is seen only in the complete integration of my achievements and failures with the achievements and failures of my own generation, and society, and time.- Thomas Merton. No Man Is An Island (New York: Harcourt Brace Jovanovich, 1955)The world has in fact no terms of its own. It dictates no terms to man. We and our world interpenetrate. If a...

I recently returned from a conference where Dr. Stu Weber (author, Vietnam Veteran - 5th Special Forces Group, and pastor of Good Shepherd Community Church) was the keynote speaker.  It was one of those conferences where most of the conference was mediocre, but the keynote speaker was top notch. One point Dr. Weber drove home was [...]...

Diversity of Oneness | The Miracle that simply Is
    2008-03-17 00:24:43
"In reality you are just coming upon another manifestation of the same Being.Do you understand this yet?You see, no two moments are ever the same - that is the miracle of life. Oneness is not a miracle, it is the diversity of the One that is the miracle. What a wonder it is to know that as God never manifests Himself in the same way twice, so each moment is an act of total creation.(...) time is the eternal attribute of God."- The Last Barrier: Reshad Field"God says: son of Adam complains about time, but I AM Time (Eternal)."– Prophet Muhammad, recored in sacred tradition (hadith Qudsi) ...

Vision of wholeness and oneness | Irina Tweedie
    2008-02-10 12:59:51
THE REALIZATION that every act, every word, every thought of ours not only influences our environment but for some mysterious reason forms an integral and important part of the Universe, fits into it as if by necessity so to say, in the very moment we do, or say, or think it - is an overwhelming and even shattering experience. The tremendous responsibility of it is terrifying. If all of us only knew that the smallest act of ours, or a tiny thought, has such far-reaching effects as to set in motion forces which perhaps could shatter a galaxy...If we know it deeply and absolutely, if this realization becomes engraved permanently on our hearts, on our minds, how careful we would act and speak and think. How precious life would become in its integral oneness. And this, I think, is as far as the human mind and heart can go. It is as far as I can go at this moment in time where I am standing now. And I think that this is the ultimate Goal of Mysticism. This experience can become only deeper as...

Scientific Evidence on the Oneness (Tawheed) of Allah (SWT)
    2007-12-23 10:46:00
Ibrahim B. Syed, Ph. D. PresidentIslamic Research Foundation International, Inc.7102 W. Shefford LaneLouisville, KY 40242-6462, USAInsha'Allah I will talk a few words on "Qur'an and Science" which I hope will be beneficial for Dawah work. I am a student of Science and a student of Qur'an Majeed. Although my knowledge of Arabic is basic, Alhamdulillah I have discovered that the scholars have failed to translate the Qur'an faithfully, particularly into the English language. For example Zauj is translated as wife rather than spouse. Alaq is translated as blood clot or congealed blood rather than leech or something that clings. Similarly very few people know the meaning of Nikah or Zina.Science means knowledge or "ILM" in Arabic, or systematic study of Natural Phenomena or Ayah(in Arabic). God or Allah (SWT) says in the Qur'an Kareem "Inna Fi Dalika La Ayathin Li Qaumin Yatha Fakkarun." Meaning these are the Signs for those people whothink. Allah(SWT) asks us to study His creation(Nature) and our own selves to understand Him. There are over 1200 verses in the Qur'an which deal with scientific subjects.History of God:Every child and adult must have asked at least once in a lifetime such questions as what is God? How does God look like? When was God born? Will God die? Who are God' parents? Does God have children? Does God exist? If there is a God they why don't I see God? Why can't God talk to me? These and many others are very difficult questions to answer for those whose religion is not Islam. Here an attempt is made to answer these questions fully or partially.Everyone believes in something-unseen spirits, which can help or harm; many gods; own ability to make a happier world; national government; money; science; science; history; philosophical speculation; or just one God. Belief is part of a human being.Search for AnswersWhat makes the thunder roar and the rain to fall? What makes lightning? Where does the sun go when it sets? What causes solar and lunar ec...

La ilaha illa-Allah and Advaita | Supreme Oneness
    2007-05-23 02:31:00
the most profoundly revered sacred formula: La ilaha illa-Allah (also can be written as La ilaha illallah) in exoteric interpretation means: there is no god but One God.that is for bringing the whole of humanity into oneness and to remove all differences. differences in the name of God has to be removed, that was the goal of this message in all ages. an expression to say to all of humanity that whatever name and form you are calling God, the Essence is One.in esoteric meaning, the sacred formula contains the Secret of Secrets. Then it reveals something truly surreal, something which by the very nature of phenomenal world makes it very hard to realize. it's something which endless sages after sages came to realisation; some after spending a whole life time, some after forty years of retreat, some after very diligent spiritual practice and scholarship. yet they all understood this.and that meaning is profound yet simple:there is nothing but Godthere is no thing but Godthere is not-a-thi...
