A recent posting on the Electric Boats mailing list points us to the Electric Vehicle Council of Ottawa.
Described as an electric vehicles club, they have a mailing list (a bit hard to find) and apparently lots of hands-on knowledge to share and learn from. They are geared around electric cars, but many of the same issues overlap with the marine world.

| | Petition and a March on Ottawa | | 2007-11-28 18:00:00 | | We are currently organizing a march on Ottawa in the name of 9/11 Truth, to take place on 9/11/08. Organized by Canada's many truth chapters, we would arrive from across the country to present this petition:Scientific and eyewitness evidence shows that the 9/11 Commission Report is a fraudulent document and that those behind the report are guilty of covering up what happened on 9/11/2001. Specifically, this evidence shows that the twin towers were brought down by demolition explosives, not by airplanes and fire.It is our view that those covering up what happened were also instrumental in organizing what happened. We believe that elements within the US government murdered thousands of people on 9/11/2001. And made us watch. We demand:(1) That the Government of Canada recall the Canadian ambassador to the United States until the US government launches a new, truly independent investigation into the events of 9/11/2001.(2) That the Government of Canada launch its own investigation into the events of 9/11/2001 on behalf of the 24 Canadian citizens murdered in New York City.(3) That the Government of Canada act on the findings of its own investigation, even if this means taking such steps as declaring the CIA a terrorist organization and initiating proceedings against members of the US government in the international courts. Please take the time to sign this petition and make plans to join us on the seventh anniversary of 9/11 to collectively demand our government investigate this horrific day. We can not, must not, let our brave troops be sent into battle against a false enemy to help further the plans of the corporate elite.I'll keep you posted as this progresses.Take action. Demand truth. This was posted in the "Canadians for New Independent 9/11 Investigation" facebook group.November's Truthaction - CBC Radio on Sparks StreetHi allI've been in contact with Australia and since we're both commonwealth countries,we've decided to leave Remembrance Day (the 11th) for the Veterans. For thismonth only, both Canada and Australia will be holding their Truthactions on the10th (Saturday) instead. We see no reason to give the CBC something negative to film about the truthmovement, and I'm not all that excited about arguing with a vet if he gets thewrong idea about what we're doing. So here's the time and locationCBC RadioSparks StreetSaturday, November 102:00 PMI never know how many will show up, so we'll start here. If we end up withenough people that it get's crowded, we'll move to the National Press Club onWellington Street. This won't happen before 2:45 PM so head for Sparks if you'rerunning late. That's only if it gets crowded. Here's to hoping :)Looking forward to seeing you all. I have 200 dvds burned and ready. If youwish to contribute some blank DVDs or labels, bring them with you and I'll setthem up for DecemberThis month, the discs are all '9/11 Mysteries'I'll mix things up in December when it's colder and we'll have one hundred"2-packs" instead of two hundred singles. I'm also receiving some digital filesfrom Nathan Janes of PopArf.com. If things go well with the printer here inOttawa, we could see these new 'For liberty and Justice for All' Fact cards herein Ottawa.http://poparf.com/911_card_front.htmlhttp://poparf.com/911_card_back.htmlSo that's it. | | Ottawa sells buildings in $1.64B lease-back deal | | 2007-08-23 23:02:00 | | The federal government has sold nine office properties to a Vancouver-based real-estate company for $1.64 billion, but will lease them back for the next 25 years. Larco Investments Ltd. made the purchase after what the government called "an extensive open, transparent and competitive process" involving properties in Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal. Public Works Minister Michael Fortier says the government sought independent advice from Deutsche Bank before making the sale, concluding it is a fair deal for taxpayers, particularly since markets were favourable at the time.

| | Ottawa's sell-off smart move | | 2007-08-09 23:27:00 | | Federal Public Works Minister Michael Fortier is apparently close to moving ahead on the planned sale of nine federal government buildings in prime locations in Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal. The total estimated value: $1.4 billion. With real estate markets red hot in most cities, there is every indication these buildings, including Canada Place in Edmonton and the Harry Hays building in Calgary, will fetch top dollar.

| | Blooming time in Ottawa | | 2007-05-04 07:00:00 | | Tu-lips are better than one, goes the old saw.
And Ottawa believes three million are even better.
That's the number of tulips expected to burst forth during the city-by-the-Rideau's annual Canadian Tulip Festival, which runs from tomorrow until May 21.
Some 600,000 bulbs were planted last October to augment the millions already in the ground, says landscape architect Dorota Grudniewicz, who designed the 90 flower beds (the equivalent of 15,000-square-metres of garden), scattered throughout the national capital region.
There are 30 different garden sites including Major's Hill Park with 75,000 tulips and Commissioners Park, at Dow Lake, with 300,000 more... | | By: The Flower Expert - Flowers Encyclopedia | | |
