A Year Later: Same Scenario, Different Outcome
    2008-05-09 15:16:00
photo by hugovkI am excited to talk about growth- of my own personal kind. Its not easy to see on a day to day basis, but today proved to be one of those situations where I could easily compare how I used to be to how I am now. Today we had our company’s annual shareholder’s meeting. Everyone gathers together for lunch to discuss business. Last year when this luncheon happened, I remember being physically sick over it and having to rely and confide in a few coworkers who have now become really close friends. I asked them to sit next to me and I told them my problem in case I had to run out suddenly to avoid throwing up. I was embarrassed, nauseas, and scared of what others might think of me for what I did or didn’t eat. It was around this time that I actually started this blog. What a difference today’s meeting was for me. I walked upstairs alone to go to the conference not even consciously thinking about whether anxiety would be a problem. I also didn't know that I was go

    Learning Implies Having No Outcome.
    2008-03-24 20:53:00
I was aware of something extraordinary today. I was watching CNN, which was running snippets of Barrack Obama and Hilary Clinton, and realized I have absolutely no opinion on who should be the Democratic candidate for president. And this position I found myself in had nothing to do with 'not caring,' because I care deeply about all issues concerning humanity's well-being. No, my position, or lack there of, was entirely due to my passion for learning, and learning implies having no outcome. Allow me to explain. When one has an outcome, an opinion, a static perspective, a belief, a background, an identity, or what have you, one is incapable of learning, because one is continuously operating under a blinding bias. Don't worry, I'm not offending anyone, you love your bias', you protect them, worship them, and attempt to spread them far and wide. What are your bias'? Your bias' are none other than yourself. They make up your temperament, your opinions, your perspectives, and emotional avail

    The Outcome of Modern Liberalism
    2008-03-01 17:24:00
Good societies fail when reason, rationality, and logic cease to underpin them. Yet modern liberalism asserts that all realities and meanings are equal within the social construct of modern liberalism; a construct which values the equality of outcomes rather than that of opportunities. As for that which opposes modern liberalism, the aggregate of their benefit is vehemently opposed in a manner obviously not in the best interest. And the reality is that modern liberalism can be decisively altered by social or cultural edict rather than reason, rationality, and logic. This results in a host of self-defeating ideologies and declarations.Modern liberalism seeks to overcome healthy counterbalances. As it tears them down it leaves in its wake cultural and social degradation. This is exactly what we see today. A radical individualism and lack of limits to personal gratification magnifies the situation. A culture obsessed with personal convenience hates what interferes with that. Religion, mor

When You Negotiate What Are Your Expectations Of The Outcome?
    2008-02-19 08:02:12
Have you ever looked for something, did not see it in its usual place, and thus to you it was not there? Then, after a while, you went back to the same place you looked the first time and magically, the item appeared. What happened in that whole scenario? At the point you didn’t see [...]

    Outcome-Oriented Greenhouse
    2008-01-07 11:03:34
I introduced outcome-oriented youth ministry in October, and discussed it again in the debate on playing Halo with youth.  I want to continue this idea today using the metaphor of a greenhouse, which is certainly outcome-oriented. The manager of a greenhouse has some very c...

2008 U.S. Presidential Elections - How the outcome might affect us!
    2008-01-04 12:23:00
The U.S. mainland has gone crazy about politics since the start of 2008! It's not surprising though. In less than a year, the Americans will choose who among a woman, an African-American and a bunch of white dudes will get to be the most powerful man ( or woman ) on the face of the planet. This also will ultimately decide which direction America will take in the next four years in terms of economy and foreign policy among others but the two mentioned will have the biggest impact on outsourced jobs here in the Philippines and to the Philippines as a whole.I usually blog during the wee hours of the morning and while I'm typing away I have my T.V. on Foxnews channel watching the "ruckus" of the caucus in Iowa. I was a bit surprised how dirty politics in the U.S. was! In a nutshell, it is perfectly legal for a presidential hopeful to run T.V. ads to discredit their opponents. I doubt if the political mudslinging here gets as dirty as what they do in the U.S.At the moment, it's still in

    Outcome-Oriented Youth Ministry
    2007-10-09 16:20:00
Photo: Discussing ministry at FUMC with Pastor Gary Shepherd (left). In my last post I discussed the importance of listening to youth, and at the end of the post I suggested that it might be a good idea to start listening to parents and staff first. I have come to this conclusion based on years of ...

Can outcome of Emery’s arbitration hearing determine his (or Heatley’s) fate as a Senator?
    2007-07-23 05:59:51
Erin Nicks of the Ottawa Sun wonders if the Ottawa Senators would cut ties with restricted free agent goalie Ray Emery if the club does not feel comfortable with the contract he will receive at an arbitration hearing on Tuesday. rumormethisCopyright Should Emery receive a two-year deal at $4 million per or more, it’s possible that the Senators may be forced to let their number one goalie go. Why? It’s simple. Next off-season, the Senators will have five RFAs (including forward Jason Spezza) and three unrestricted free agents (including All-Star forward Dany Heatley) to re-sign. Speculation is already mounting that Heatley could garner as much as $10 million per season. And Spezza, well, he won’t come cheap either. Thus, the Senators would be forced to make some hard choices: do they re-sign their number one goalie even if it may prevent them from having the funds to make an offer to their back-to-back 50-goal scorer, or do they drop Emery so they have the cap spa
