| Distractions at Oxford.com | | 2008-06-01 12:11:27 | | I spent my blogging time today reading the fascinating responses at Oxford.com's Frequently Asked Questions section of Ask the Experts. I don't know how frequently those questions are asked, but you can certainly travel a distracting breadcrumb of English language questions.
They will tell you, for instance, whether a tomato should be considered a fruit or a vegetable. They've tackled this question not just because most people want to know but because it gives them a chance to explain just...

| 5 1/2 inch Oxford High Heels II | | 2008-05-21 18:51:00 | | Oxford High Heels reloaded...Wow - didn't expect so many nice emails of my high heels blog readers after my last posting with photos of my first oxford heels. Looks like I'm not the only one who really likes these High Heels. I like them because they are a little bit different then all my other high heeled shoes, and you don't see such high heels very often. And altough they are 5 1/2 inches high - they are much more comfortable to wear than they actually look like. Here are four more photos of me and my Oxford High Heels. This time with a black mini skirt and a white jacket. And this time not only the shoes ;-).A lot of emails suggested for the next photos to wear these High Heels with fully fashioned seamed nylon stockings. Maybe you are lucky ;-).... | | By: Higher Heel - a High Heels and Stockings Blog | | |

| My first oxford high heel pumps - first impressions | | 2008-05-17 19:54:00 | | 5 1/2 inch oxford high heel pumps - first impressions....Here are some first photos of my new oxford style high heeled pumps. I just got these shoes yesterday - they really look very nice. Something different then my other high heels. These oxford style high heels are made of black leather and have again a 5 1/2 inch (14 cm) high heel. So I now own two shoes with such high heels. I was a very warm day, so I just put this shoes on bare feet. And, as far as I can tell already - these shoes are very comfortable as they are nearly boots. I really like them ;-). These three photos are just a first impression of my new pumps - will show you some more soon....... | | By: Higher Heel - a High Heels and Stockings Blog | | |

| India's growth rate may slow down: Oxford Analytica | | 2007-12-18 23:35:00 | | Noting that forecasts of gross domestic product growth for fiscal 2007-08 (ending March) are being revised downwards to 8.4-8.6 per cent (growth in 2006-07 reached 9.4 per cent), Oxford Analytica says this reflects the impact of a credit squeeze initiated by the Reserve Bank of India to combat inflation, which reached 6 per cent earlier this year. A summary of analysis by Oxford Analytica, which claims to have 1000 scholars, was posted on the website of Forbes magazine. On the positive side, it says, growth in agriculture, a perennial under-achiever, may accelerate following a favourable monsoon and there are also indications that a period of "jobless growth" is over, with rapid expansion in employment opportunities catching up with the rising rate of participation in the labour force. A major positive sign is fast growth of capital goods industries and an expansion of infrastructure, which would support the economy in the long run. Besides, foreign portfolio flows are strong w... | | By: Indian stock markets | | |

| Eating in Oxford. | | 2007-09-06 22:35:00 | | Today, September 7th … Here I am! In Oxford for the Symposium on Food & Cookery, and looking forward to it enormously. I have been trying to get here for years. Karen Resta asked for some Oxford food history – actually, if you look back to the original comment, Karen made a lot of requests. A sign of a curious mind, methinks. I have given you some random snippets of Oxford food history in the past. For those of you who are coffee fiends, the first record of coffee drinking in England was in 1637 in Oxford, and was noted in the diary of none other than John Evelyn. Our frequent friend Parson Woodforde’s early academic life was at Oxford, and he recorded a number of his meals there – one in particular feast of ‘tongue and udder’ in 1763 did not impress, and we have considered why that may be in another post. I could regale you with a historic menu – if only I could chose which one is the most fun! You might have to wait until Menus from History is finally publish... | | By: The Old Foodie | | |
