| Report: Packers Looking for Trading Partner for Brett? | | 2008-07-22 16:04:07 | | Can you imagine being the man to trade Brett Favre? That’s exactly what may happen if NFL Network’s Adam Schefter is correct in his front page story on NFL.com today that states the Packers have begun talking to teams about what they would offer for Favre. The story says that the Pack is basically trying [...] | | By: NFL GridIron Gab | | |

| Packers Accuse Vikings Of Tampering With Favre | | 2008-07-17 10:10:13 | | The Packers have accused the Minnesota Vikings of tampering with Brett Favre. FoxSports.com reports that the Packers have filed tampering charges accusing the Vikings of inappropriate communications with Favre. The charges were reportedly filed because of conversations Favre had during this offseason with Vikings offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell.

| No easy way out for Favre, Packers | | 2008-07-13 06:00:07 | | I haven't said anything to this point about the Brett Favre situation. But, it's a Sunday and there isn't much else going on, so I'll throw it out there for discussion.
Favre has, of course, reneged on his retirement and asked for his release from the Green Bay Packers.
The Packers, who must feel like marionettes at the end of Favre's puppeteer string, are at this point telling him they won't grant that wish. The Packers, basically, are implying that Favre can return to the team -- as Aaron Rodgers' backup -- if he insists on un-retiring.
Here's GM Ted Thompson.
“We’ve communicated that to Brett, that we have since moved forward. At the same time, we’ve never said that there couldn’t be some role that he might play here. But I would understand his point that he would want to play.”
What a nightmare for Green Bay! There is no scenario I can see under which everyone comes out of this clean.
If they don't release him, Favre has two choices.

| Letter From Favre’s Agent Asks Packers to Release QB | | 2008-07-11 18:12:35 | | It appears that the Brett Fave vs Packers saga is about to take a rather ugly and fast twist, as reports from various sources are saying that Favre has formally asked the team for his release in a letter sent by his agent, James “Bus” Cook. | Source Close to Taylor Says He’s Not Interested in Going to Packers | | 2008-06-21 16:55:18 | | The Green Bay Packers reportedly were interested in getting their hands on Dolphins unhappy DE Jason Taylor, but according to a source close to Taylor, the former Defensive Player of the Year is not headed for the land of cheese. “I don’t see it happening,” a source close to Taylor said Friday. “He’s been through [...] | | By: NFL GridIron Gab | | |

| Packers and Jason Taylor | | 2008-06-21 16:42:00 | | Honestly, I hope it happens. At this point, Taylor seems pretty adamant about either retiring after this season or refusing to play for the Dolphins at all. I love the guy, but the offseason drama has been a pain in the ass, and this team is bad enough without having to deal with all these issues. Losing Zach Thomas hurt, but we might as well rip off the memories of a glorious past (if you can call playoff failures glorious) like a band-aid.The biggest problem isn't the price tag. I think the Dolphins could legitimately squeeze a 3rd rounder out of the Packers, and maybe even a 2nd. The problem is that Taylor is being a prima donna and sources say that the Green Bay market isn't "big enough" for him. It's possible this is just a smokescreen for the fact that Taylor simply doesn't want to play on a team led by Aaron Rodgers at QB. I would hope it is the latter, and JT doesn't want to insult the quarterback by outright saying it.Regardless, we need to get rid of Taylor. It's clear that h | | By: State of Miami | | |

| REPORT: Packers inquire about Jason Taylor | | 2008-06-18 21:13:43 | |
The Green Bay Press Gazette reports that the Packers, due to injury concerns with Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila, have decided to explore the idea of trading for Jason Taylor:
The Packers recently made an exploratory inquiry with the Miami Dolphins, who are trying to decide what to do with the disgruntled Taylor. In recent days, the Dolphins have indicated they’re interested in retaining Taylor, the defensive end who won the NFL’s defensive player of the year award in 2006.
The article goes on to explain that the Packers do have a connection to JT. Defensive coordinator Bob Sanders and DT coach Robert Nunn both were on the Dolphins' coaching staff back in the early 2000s, so they know Taylor quite well.
One thing the article does point out is that Miami's asking price might be a bit too steep for Packers GM Ted Thompson. You'll remember that the Packers wouldn't give up anything more than a 5th round pick for Randy Moss.
However, I actually think that Thompson' | | By: The Phinsider

| Packers: Wolf regrets taking shot at Holmgren | | 2008-02-13 11:28:38 | | This was an interesting story....you can check it out below.....here It happened a long, long time ago, but obviously it still bothers Ron Wolf. Back in Super Bowl XXXII, played in January 1998, the Green Bay Packers were the defending champions and looking for two in a row. The NFC had won 13 straight Super Bowls, and the Packers were a double-digit favorite over the Denver Broncos to make it 14. But the blitzing Broncos defense rattled Brett Favre. The aging, but not washed-up John Elway, finally getting some help in the backfield with MVP Terrell Davis, kept it close for Denver. And finally, the Broncos scored with a minute left the game to take the lead -- a touchdown that was "conceded" by Packers coach Mike Holmgren. The Packers couldn't answer. Denver won, 31-24. The Broncos won the next Super Bowl, too. And the Packers haven't been back since. The loss still stung Wolf, a longtime Packers GM who engineered the franchise's renaissance in the 1990s. | NFC Championship Preview: Packers v. Giants | | 2008-01-19 17:54:00 | | Breaking Down New YorkAfter two shocking playoff upsets over the Buccaneers and Cowboys, the Giants will try to punch an even more unlikely ticket to the Super Bowl. What has made the Giants so effective this postseason is the playof their quarterback Eli Manning, who has failed to throw one interception against the Bucs or 'Boys. Relying on a mistake-free Eli and a power running game with Brandon Jacobs, New York has found an offense that is capable of scoring just enough. The Giants don't need to score thirty plus like the Patriots because they have one of the league's better defense. Currently, the Giants are tops in the NFL in total sacks. Against the Cowboys, the Giants front four put so much pressure on Tony Romo that he made one poor throw after another. Defensive end Michael Strahan should give Packers right tackle Mark Tauscher fits, and Osi Umenyiora will likely win a few battles against Chad Clifton on the left side.Breaking Down Green BayAfter an amazing 13-3 regular season, | | By: West Coast Bias | | |

| Randy Couture To Speak Before The Green Bay Packers Sat Dec 8th - 09 Nov 2007 06:06:43am | | 2007-11-09 00:06:43 | |
By Brian Knapp
Three-time UFC heavyweight champion Randy Couture has accepted an invitation to speak before the Green Bay Packers on Saturday, Dec. 8 in Green Bay, Wisc., according to representatives from Xtreme Couture Mixed Martial Arts. The 44-year-old will be the Packers’ special guest at their game against Oakland at legendary Lambeau Field the following day.
Jay Glazer, a member of the Fox Sports team that covers the NFL, was instrumental in establishing a relationship between the two parties, Green Bay head coach Mike McCarthy said.
“Jay and I were watching Randy’s last fight, and we got on to the subject of talking to the players and finding different ways to get your message across to them,†McCarthy said. “I was telling Jay that one of the platforms we like to use is having guest speakers come and talk to the team about relevant subjects or themes.â€

| Favre Does a 180 - Will be at Packers Mini-Camp | | 2007-05-17 14:18:41 | | Doing an about face, possibly due to the backlash by even his own fans, Packers QB Brett Favre now says he will be at the teams mandatory mini-camp this weekend. The story of the week around the league is how Favre, who reportedly was so upset with the team recently about not trading for Randy Moss that he demanded a trade, was going to miss the camp to rehab his ankle and stay home to assist in plans for his daughter’s upcoming graduation.
While Favre is not going to be able to practice, by all means it is his place to be at the camp. His daughter’s graduation is not until next weekend, and who in their right mind believes that Favre is running around buying party hats and balloons for his little girl’s graduation party? What, no one else but Brett can hit Party City and grab some decorations for the big upcoming celebration of his daughter graduating high school? If nothing else, it just should prove to the Packers they had better think long and hard about that rebu | | By: NFL GridIron Gab

| Favre, Packers not on same page | | 2007-05-14 14:05:53 | | It seems obvious now that Brett Favre and the Green Bay Packers don't see eye-to-eye on what is best for the franchise. Fox Sports reported Sunday that Favre asked for a trade after the team failed to acquire wide receiver Randy Moss from Oakland. Moss, as we know, ended up in New England. Favre, of course, is near the end of his Hall of Fame career and would like one last shot at a ring. It seems Packer management is not inclined to mortgage the future to give it to him. Here, according to Fox, is what Favre said to reporters on Saturday. "I just want to win; maybe I see things the wrong way," Favre said. "I don't want to ruffle any feathers and I want people to respect me. Sometimes I think it's hard for them to let Brett go. They might think that we pay him a lot of money, but he still gives us the best chance to win. I've never been told that, but there are times when I wonder if I'm the odd man out here and they just don't know how to tell me. "Our offense str | | By: Big Blue View | | |
