| Pain Relief for Osteoporosis Patients With Fractures | | 2008-03-19 01:14:00 | | (HealthDay News) -- In osteoporosis patients with spinal fractures, vertebroplasty provides significant pain relief and helps decrease disability, according to a new study.Vertebroplasty involves injection of medical-grade bone cement into a fractured vertebra to shore up the fracture and provide pain relief. It's used to treat painful vertebral compression fractures that don't respond to conventional medical therapy with analgesics or narcotics. The study followed 884 patients for five years who were assessed before and after vertebroplasty. Their average pre-treatment pain score on an 11-point scale decreased from 7.9 (+/- 1.5) before treatment to an average of 1.3 (+/- 1.8) after treatment. The patients' ability to manage everyday tasks such as washing and dressing was measured using the Oswestry Disability Questionnaire. | | Yoga and Back Pain Relief | | 2008-02-21 22:12:00 | | Has chronic back pain taken control of your life? It can, and for those who suffer, it is both mental and physical misery. As one who has had to deal with lower back pain for a number of years, I promise you it is true. A back injury while I was still a teenager changed all of the muscular skeletal relationships in my back and hips. As a result, when I get out of shape and put on a few unwanted pounds, the muscles from my neck to my knees let me know it. Several years past I jogged outdoors, on my gym's track and on my treadmill. For those who can do it, I submit that TV shows on tape and a treadmill session go together like vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce! Zap out the commercials and what's left provides a forty-eight minute warm up, workout, and cool down. Perfect! When joint issues slowed me to walking on the treadmill, this was still a great session but finally the joints won. Not only walking but also other milder forms of exercise like my beloved golf went by the wayside a | | By: Yoga Training | | |

| | Oleanolic acid, Chronic wounds and Pain relief | | 2007-10-26 03:00:00 | | Oleanolic acid could also speed up the healing of cuts and abrasions as well as easing the pain of ulcer sufferers. How oleanolic acid does the job is a mystery. Wound healing occurs in several stages and each stage is not well understood. Even so, he said that there was an important market for drugs that could speed recovery from wounds.Chronic wounds were defined as those expected to take more than 4 to 6 weeks to heal because of 1 or more factors delaying healing, including venous leg ulcers, pressure ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, extended burns, and amputation wounds. Acute wounds were defined as those expected to heal in the expected time frame, with no local or general factor delaying healing. Dressings for acute and chronic wounds are hydrogel dressings, synthetic foam dressings, hydrocolloid dressings, low adherence dressings and alginate dressings.Through carefully controlled experiments using advanced brain imaging techniques, researchers are discovering that people’s brains can process the same pain signals from their bodies very differently. These insights are leading to surprising new strategies for controlling pain. Doctors can prescribe several different medications and treatments for pain relief.Imagine an epidural or a shot of Novocain that doesn’t paralyze your legs or make you numb yet totally blocks your pain. This type of pain management is now within reach. As a result, childbirth, surgery, and trips to the dentist might be less traumatic in the future. The pint-sized subjects received injections near their sciatic nerves, which run down their hind limbs, and subsequently lost the ability to feel pain in their paws. The injections contained QX-314, a normally inactive derivative of the local anesthetic lidocaine, and capsaicin, the active ingredient in hot peppers. In combination, these chemicals targeted only pain-sensing neurons, preventing them from sending signals to the brain. CrossRef Healthlines: Pain. Can you think Pain away?.

| | The most effective pain relief... | | 2007-07-21 01:13:00 | | I just found the most effective pain relief that I know I can use to relieve my back ache and joint pains. It is the Freeze It pain reliever. I was one of the active PayPerPost Posties selected to try it, and so, I can honestly say it works. I was able to sleep very well during the very first time I used it without aches and pains delaying me from falling asleep. So, I am very thankful that because I got to sample it, I now know what works for me. It really helped ease my backache and joint pains. It is surely unlike the other pain relievers I have ever tried before. So, I will be looking in to getting more of it, I can purchase it online for a very reasonable price. It is very inexpensive, yet very effective. I would recommend it to anyone suffering from any aches and pains like I am experiencing. Anyway, I embeded a video clip here for those who wants to find out more about it as well as see how it works. I can guarantee that it works just wonderfully for it is not greasy, oily in an | | By: Memoirs of a Filipina | | |
