| World 10-Ball & World Pool Championships & The State of Philippine Billiards! | | 2008-07-15 11:46:53 | | I received a ton of emails In less than 2 hours of posting my thoughts on Alex Pagulayan’s decision to file a libel suit against the Billiards and Snooker Congress of the Philippines (BSCP). Post is here, friends. Most wanted to know how such will affect the state of the sport in the country. And a number have expressed concerns about the upcoming World 10-Ball Championships and the possible staging of the World Pool Championships (WPC) here in the Philippines. From what I could gather and all, here are more developments, everyone! Even before Alex Pagulayan, aka The Lion, filed the lawsuit, Filipino pool players Efren Bata Rreyes, Francisco Django Bustamante, Alex Pagulayan, and Ronnie Alcano announced that they will boycott the inaugural staging of the World 10-Ball Pool Championships slated for September 2008 at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City. | Do Philippine bloggers pay tax? | | 2008-04-15 16:49:37 | | I convinced my other younger sister to join us in the Blogosphere and finally, she did. Now the only thing missing with her to be able to make some money online is a tax id. Is it really necessary for her to have a tax id when she lives all the way in the Philippines? Do Philippine bloggers pay for tax in the Philippines? Oh, I have got to ask around for that. My brother has an SSN and tax id except for our younger siblings. My sister tried to get a tax id the other day but she couldn't because she needs to show a required certificate of employment. That sucks I think, you want to get a tax id so you can work...LOL. That is as far as I am concerned anyway. If she has to do that when she needs an SSN, then that is silly. The problem in the Philippines is that some things there, work backward, way primitive and upside down...LOL. I know so because even with the justice system it takes forever, and the rest of my uncle's perpetrators are still at large-never caught until now and it has be | | By: Memoirs of a Filipina | | |

| Paypal Pays To Your Philippine Bank Account | | 2008-04-01 11:27:00 | | You might have known about this a long time ago. I did as well. I had my Union bank account added in my Paypal account since last January but for the longest time I didn't use it because I feared it may not work and I get a $5 penalty for botched transaction. The advantage of withdrawing your money to your Philippines bank account is that it's totally free for withdrawals over 7,000 pesos and only pay 50 pesos for anything lower than that. Compared to withdrawing your money using a Visa debit or credit card which you pay a $5 fee, it definitely saves you a lot.Last week, I got a chance to finally test the system so I'll know if it does work. And if it does, then I can finally avoid paying a significant amount just for the money transfer. Transferred less than $100 dollars just to test it knowing I can be deducted $5 if the bank refuses this transfer. Well, 3 days after doing so, it was a complete success! It was a little faster than it usually was when using my EON visa debit card too. | | By: The Call Center Expert | | |

| Philippine Soap Operas are tear jerker | | 2008-01-30 09:28:07 | | I have been watching Marimar-the remake of the Mexican Marimar. Well, as always, such soap opera is really heart touching. I mean every time I watch an episode, I couldn't help to shed a tear. My tear would just fall whenever I see someone being emotional. I guess, I get carried away sometimes, even when I know that it is just part of the play-not real. However, I can be a very emotional person, so this must be why I always wind up crying...eheheh. Silly me, but that is what happen each time I watch a sad movie, yes, sad movies make me cry. I can relate top some scenarios, so that is why it affects me. Whew! Life is not complete without a little of everything involved which are sad moments, happy, and others in between...LOL. Certainly the soap operas in the Philippines are tear jerker. | | By: Memoirs of a Filipina | | |

| Paypal fund widthdrawal to Philippine Bank Accounts-Bank Code? | | 2008-01-26 15:01:00 | | I think the week-ender post by PMT on the newly implemented paypal widthdrawal service is really a breaking news specially for Filipino bloggers and webtrepreneurs. Registered Paypal users from Philippines are now allowed to Widthdraw funds directly to the banks in the Philippines, providing option to use less-hassle way of encashing your paypal fund. I observed some important points to take note when widthdrawing your fund to any Philippine bank account: Widthdrawal cost for 7K and up is FREE. For the cost below 7K, a charge of 50 Pesos will be incurred. The fund availability is 5-7 business days after the request has been made. A return fee of 250.00 PHP will apply, and your bank may charge additional fees for unsuccessful paypal fund widthdrawal You just add your bank account to your Paypal account and you are ready to go. But wait, adding the bank account is not that simple, you need 9 digit bank code of your bank account to link your local bank account to paypal. That is now the question that some of you might care to answer. Any experience on acquiring the 9 digit bank code for Banco De Oro, Bank of the Philippine Island, Metro Bank your comments or your post links will surely appreciated. | January 2008 Philippine Boxing Updates | | 2008-01-09 13:59:00 | | Pacman vs. HitmanThese past few weeks, there has been a lot of buzz about a possible super fight between Pinoy boxing star, Manny Pacquiao and British boxing star, Ricky Hatton. Since Ricky Hatton is about the same height as Manny and has a two inch reach disadvantage, some people have argued that it would be a good match up. In terms of weight, Pacquaio had weighed in at around 140 lbs. at fight time, which is around Hatton's usual weight. This is not a good match up in my opinion because even if both fighters are of the same height, I don't think that they are of the same size and weight. Hatton would be the natural bigger man and has a big advantage in size. Pacman weighed at about 140 at the night of some of his fights but I think Hatton for his part weighed over 150 lbs in most of his fights. hatton has also been known to balloon in weight before fight training.Furthermore, Hatton has been fighting at 140 lbs and more for most his career and is used to taking shots from fighters in this weight class. On the other hand, Manny has fought from 106 lbs to 130 lbs, and fighting at 140 lbs would diminish his speed. Let's face it, Manny's speed is a huge factor in his success as a boxer. Of course, this fight can bring a lot of money to both fighters because of their huge fan base and it is an exciting match up as both fighters love to mix it up. However, Pacquiao faces big disadvantages against Hatton so I don't think that this fight would happen. On the other hand, if Manny wins convincingly against Marquez, then anything can happen.Gerry, Boom Boom and AJGerry Penalosa is scheduled to defend his bantamweight title against Ratanachai Sor Vorapin on March 2 at the Araneta Coliseum. About seven years ago, Gerry knocked Sor Vorapin out in six rounds in a minor title defense. However, Sor Vorapin has stayed active since then and has manged to win the WBO bantamweight title. he lost the title to Jhonny Gonzalez who in turn lost it to Gerry last year.Pinoy boxing pr | | By: Pinoy Boxing | | |

To tell you honestly, I think this guy knows more than I do so it's worth a look. Check them out now by clicking on the banner. Ciao!

LOLLet me name a few call centers that I think will make headlines in 2008.1. Genpact - This company, aside from being one of the most admired BPO's in the world, will definitely be more successful in 2008. They've got a cool new building in Alabang and they pay employees with above industry salary. Genpact seems like a cool sturdy wall employees can lean on. | Disparity In Philippine Amateur and Professional Boxing | | 2007-12-03 00:53:43 | | I would have to say I'm disappointed (to say the least) that amateur boxing in the Philippines has failed miserably in producing world-class or at least Olympic competitive athletes! Amateur boxing has been one of the Philippines leading sports for the past 2 decades. The Philippine boxers, although failing to win a gold medal in the past, have been reaching the semi-final rounds in Olympics

| Philippine lanterns illuminate Vienna Advent Festival | | 2007-11-26 18:26:00 | | VIENNA - The official lighting of lanterns from Pampanga province in the Philippines took place on November 19, 2007 in front of Vienna's City Hall. The San Fernando City government, through the initiative of Mayor Oscar Rodriguez, donated 60 San Fernando lanterns to the Philippine Embassy in Vienna. The lanterns decorate one of 11 trees in the Rathausplatz in the Christkindlmarkt grounds, one of the biggest and most popular Christmas markets in Europe. Hundreds of stalls on the vicinity of the city hall were being installed. The stalls offer European and exotic foods, drinks and a lot of Christmas souvenirs. Indeed, it was a "tiangge"-like atmosphere. The Vienna Christkindlmarkt runs for six weeks from the third weekend of November to Christmas Day. It attracts an estimated three million tourists from Austria and neighboring countries. The simultaneous lighting of the Philippine lanterns was officiated by Ambassador Linglingay Lacanlale and Dr. Elisabeth Vitouch from the Vienna city government. It drew admiration and applause from the audience, composed of diplomats from different Association of SoutheastAsian Nations member countries, the Philippine Honorary Consuls in Austria, officials of the Vienna City government, Austrian media, the Filipino community as well as the promenaders and visitors of the Christkindlmarkt. "In the name of the Vienna city government, I wish to express my heartfelt thanks the Philippine Embassy here in Vienna for the wonderful lanterns decorations. These unique lanterns from the Philippine add more color and festivity to our Advent Festival here in Vienna," said Dr.Vitouch during the lighting ceremony. She was the representative of Vienna Mayor Dr. Michael Häupl. Ambassador Lacanlale and Dr. Elisabeth Vitouch Ambassador Lacanlale expressed her gratitude for giving the Philippines the opportunity to exhibit these lanterns. | 4 World Champs for Philippine Boxing! | | 2007-10-04 14:26:00 | | Donnie "Ahas" Nietes' hard fought win last weekend over Pornsawan Kratingdaenggym of Thailand for the the vacant WBO world Minimumweight Title, the Philippines currently has 4 world boxing champions. Pinoy boxing stars Florante Condes, Nonito Donaire,Gerry Penalosa, and Donnie Nietes now hold world championship belts. Well, technically they are not world champions because boxing has been split up into various governing bodies (WBC, WBA, IBF, WBO, IBO, WBU, etc...)that recognize it's own champions for every division. The proper term might be world titlist because they hold a part of the World championship. Unless these Filipino boxing champs cannot unify the world titles in their divisions, then I think they cannot be declared as true world champions. Let us relive how this Pinoy boxing heroes bought glory to their country through this videos: Let us begin with Nonito Donaire's impressive KO win over Vic Darchinyan:Then we have Gerry Penalosa's liver shot KO win over Jhonny GonzalezThis is the third round of the Condes-Rachman fight in which COndes captured the title by split decision. This round was a big one for Condes as he was able to knock Rachman down on his back. And finally this is Donnie Nietes in action against the very tough Pornsawan Kratingdaenggym. This is the fourth round in which Nietes scored a knockdown on his way to a unanimous decision win.Let us hope that our Philippine boxing champions can defend their titles successfully follow in the footstps of Manny Pacquiao and other Filipino boxing legends. | | By: Pinoy Boxing | | |
