Rare Color Photographs Taken During the Nazi Occupation of Paris During World War II
    2008-06-03 15:16:34
An exhibition of rare color photographs taken of a purportedly cheerful Paris under German occupation during the second World War, has touched a raw nerve among certain politicians and old timers. The Nazis were, as most communist governments today, experts at manipulation and war time propaganda. However, the picture of an old Jewish woman forced to wear the Star of David emblem on her coat by the Germans, is a chilling reminder of the atrocities that were being committed in the Auschwitz death camps. Let no one be fooled, this was just a flimsy facade. // Underwater Photographs ~ Indonesia 2007
    2007-11-11 10:06:47
Fish says Hello, Gili Trawangan, Lombok, Indonesia.Just before I went to Indonesia I bought an Olympus Stylus 770SW which is a perfect compact camera for 'outdoorsy' people ;) Shockproof, Waterproof, Crushproof, and still a very reasonable image quality (semi professional quality, 7.1 Megapixels), and a beautiful design aswell (for me, that is, I also heard others who thought is was downright ugly...;)). The main reason I bought it was because I wanted to do some snorkling, and I thought it would be nice if I could take some nice photographs of that to share with you all. Well people, I made some pretty nice photos and movies underwater. Here's a small collection for you all...RickSome fish (can someone tell me what kind?) at Gili Trawangan.Coral, Gili Trawangan, Lombok, Indonesia.Turtle at Gili Trawangan, Lombok, Indonesia.Turtle diving, Gili Trawangan, Lombok, Indonesia.Turtle grabbing some air, Gili Trawangan, Lombok, Indonesia. This coral looks like brainmatter...The Gili Islands always have very clear water...more 'brainmatter', Gili Trawangan, Lombok, Indonesia.*** More photographs about Indonesia here. ***© Copyright // Rick Wezenaar Photography ~ All rights reserved

    Turning your photographs into art
    2007-10-21 02:00:31
In the age of digital photography, all of us have the opportunity to hone our photographic skills without having to spend a stack of money having films developed and processed. Producing the perfect image is within reach of all amateur photographers. That said, actually printing the images themselves for display is an art in itself and that’s where 'learn to dream' can offer a service. Learn to dream offer a quality printing service for the images that you have taken on your own camera, not just on standard glossy photography paper, but a host of exciting media that you wouldn’t be able to produce at home. Learn to dream can also transform your photos onto canvas, textured art paper, acrylic blocks, silver finish, parallex or lusion – jump to the website to find out more about these finishes and techniques guaranteed to make your own artwork stand out from the crowd. If you’re not sure what effect will work for your picture, they also offer a consultation service to ensure that your finished product meets or even exceeds your expectations. In my view, there are a number of reasons for using a service like this. A wedding present, house warming or significant birthday present, or even if you are planning to redecorate and would like to add a personal touch – maybe a favourite holiday snap or much-loved pet. The website itself is easy to navigate and very well put together with good descriptions for each product choice and some examples for you to peruse. I recently took a family photo that I think would look good as an acrylic block, though I would really like to have it wall-mounted. Using my own printer, I can only manage A4 size, but for a truly stunning visual effect, A0 size (over a metre high) in canvas would be just amazing if only I had the room to mount it…this is a paid to post entry

    The Right Scanner for Photographs
    2007-06-30 02:54:00
By: Christine PepplerThe majority of consumers now own a digital camera versus a film camera. However, even in these instances, many still possess film, negatives, and prints that they would like to store digitally, edit, and/or print. The security of storing images digitally and the flexibility of being able to alter and improve such images via editing are very attractive options for prized photographs taken some time ago.A scanner is a simple and reliable way of converting images into digital form. The most common devices available to consumers are flatbed and film scanners. Determining which scanner to purchase can be made simple by thinking through just a few of the options. What type of work will the user be doing?Flatbed scanners are designed specifically for use with photographic prints, paper documents, and even three dimensional objects although some offer a transparency hood or adapter to use them with slides and negatives. Flatbed scanners are a good all round scanner.Film sc
