Plagiarism, please don't hit me hard.
    2008-08-24 09:54:46
A week before, my mind and head are spinning like mad. God only knows why. I got loads of work from most of my subjects and it really, really test me out as a student. But I kinda love it, since I get to type something and maybe even to express my own personal opinion about what I'm typing. It feels like when you went in to a restaurant and you asked for the cook to change the way they cook.Okay, I know. Doesn't make sense. And one thing that I really hate the most was the teachers all wanted the essays and assignments to be plagiarised-free. Impossible, is it? A friend of mine YMed me and told me about this super awesome website on detecting plagiarism. Cool isn't it? Anyway, to any one of you who need to check your work, all you guys have to do is, go to the website, and sign up.You guys can upload your work, in the form of .txt and .doc and do a deep or light analysis on your work. Then, they will tell you how much of your work is taken from the websites and so on. It's just that sim

The article is based on the Media in Focus episode titled “Word Theft” on ANC aired last Thursday (August 7). Hosted by Cheche Lazaro, I was one of the three guests, the [...]

Plagiarism issue between Demo and Techcrunch
    2008-08-12 07:24:27
Interesting way to wake up this morning is to see that Demo has made noise that Jason Calcanis pulled a “what everyone should know about pitching your startup” saying that it was very similar to something that was written 10 years ago for Demo. So taking a quick look at what is there, the scary [...]

    My views on plagiarism
    2008-06-16 20:10:41
I visited the Eye on Ethics website this morning (June 17) to look for case studies I can use in my Media 230 (Media Ethics) class. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that the article of Hector Bryant Macale titled “Plagiarists: The vampire chroniclers” has already been uploaded. I am well aware of his research [...]

Rowling back in the plagiarism spotlight
    2008-04-15 02:23:16
Rowling tells court she's stopped working | Reuters An emotional J.K. Rowling said on Monday she had stopped working on a new novel because her creativity was stifled by a fan's bid to print an unofficial encyclopedic companion to her Harry Potter series. The 42-year-old British author and Warner Bros. are suing independent U.S. publisher RDR Books, which plans to publish "The Harry Potter Lexicon," a 400-page reference book written by Steve Vander Ark and based on his popular fan Web site (www.hp-lexicon.org).Rowling has decided that possible plagiarism is too much for her. She can't possibly go on while other people use her work, or just capitalize on her success. Normally this would only bother me a little bit. I do believe in protecting copywrited works. However, there is something to be said for the flow of ideas. Rowling should know a little something about that:JK Rowling Plagiarism, Neil Gaiman, Worst Witch, RK Larry Potter & Tanya Grotter "Comic book fans have note

Article Plagiarism: the Next Internet Ripoff?
    2008-04-10 07:42:00
Content is King! shout the search engines. That's what the search engines love. We also love the non-reciprocal links that we get for our websites when our articles are published on other peoples' sites with our resource boxes dutifully appended below them.To create a well written article takes time and effort. We have to get everything right: it has to be of relevance to the reader in that subject field; it has to be well researched; all spelling, punctuation and grammar must be correct; it has to be a genuine contribution to that particular area of specialization, and so interesting that the editor will jump at the chance of publishing it. And, oh yes, all the right keywords have to be there, of the right density and in the correct proportions. The well-crafted article must satisfy both the reader and the bot; both the aesthetics of the eye and the strictures of the code. So those of us who try and be at least a little bit serious about things know that a second draft is always necess

    How Does Plagiarism “Happen”?
    2008-04-01 04:52:58
Many people plagiarize the work of others out of ignorance of the process of appropriate citation and attribution. This is totally unintentional with no attempt at cheating or deception. Unintentional plagiarism is usually characterized by a writers attempt to communicate in their paper an idea or concept of a noted researcher but they fail to [...]

    (Half-hearted) Plagiarism Acknowledgment
    2007-12-07 02:49:35
OK, so today is December 7, THE day when the "Guru" magazine s'posed to print the acknowledgment that one of its articles in the "Ying Thai" column was plagiarized from me. I almost missed the so-called "acknowledgment"... because it came out on the 'CONTENTS' page of the magazine, waaaaaay down below, in such a tiny font that normal human beings wouldn't even notice. Click on the THIRD pic to have a closer AND bigger view of the so-called "acknowledgment'... But anyway, the font is soooo teeeeny tiiiiiny you probably wouldn't see anything... SIGH~!!! P.S. I actually noticed first that "Guru" editor Khun Voranai has stayed true to his decision to terminate the "Ying Thai" column... it was absent from today's "Guru". Background story of this whole fiasco here: I've Been Plagarized~!!!!!! http://streetsmartsukhumvit.multiply.com/journal/item/66/Ive_Been_Plagiarized PLAGIARISM - closeup: http://streetsmartsukhumvit.multiply.com/photos/album/35/PLAGIARISM_-_closeup I...

Texas Ranger Commits Plagiarism in Man of the House Movie
    2007-11-27 11:20:02
Texas Ranger Roland Sharp (Tommy Lee Jones) receives help from the captain of the cheerleading team, Anne (Christina Milian) who relights his candle during his speech. Then he continues with his speech & mentions what Anne told him before the occasion in the Man of the House movie. When the football team is down on points, who are they going to count on to lift their spirits & give their best in the game? He tells the school crowd exactly the same thing & thankfully adds some more encouraging words to his speech. It is a fine example of plagiarism. PhhBBtTT! :P Anyway, the crowd roars in jubilation. Heheh :)

    Tragedy of Plagiarism Chronologies
    2007-11-12 20:53:00
One day I checked my technorati and found a strange link so I track it. I found out my blog is copied wholesale by one site.I didn't know what to do, I tried to get some help from Bobby and he told me that we shouldn't contact the owner, contacted the host instead. How can we know the host? Go to these sites: http://www.whois.net/http://www.internic.net/whois.htmlhttp://www.betterwhois.com/http://www.allwhois.com/http://www.geektools.com/whois.phpI found all information about the owner, his email, and his address (I think they all fake so I didn't try to contact him). The domain is hosted by godaddy.com and I sent email to godaddy to report this website. I sent emails 3 times and got no responds until I send all contact email at Godaddy then they replied my email. I have to submit my copyright claim in accordance with all steps as outlined in our Copyright and Trademark Policy located here.Unfortunately, the site is not hosted at Godaddy's server so they couldn't delete it... he

    COPYSCAPE-Protect Your Content From Plagiarism
    2007-10-19 09:38:06
Recently I am getting appreciation mails from my readers regarding the posts which I have published in my blog recently. I am really happy to hear these words from you. For those who sent me appreciation emails, this is my whole hearted welcome. Even I can also feel that, there is a great increase in my typing speed and also in my vocabulary. But right now I am thinking of increasing my PR because I am getting lowers rank in google search results because google is giving more preference for high ranked blogs and optimised blogs even though they don't have any content and are merely PPC sites. Right now I am in 12th position on an avarage for the keyword "online earning opportunities". Before I used to be among top three for this key word. Now coming to the topic, due to the increase in the typing speed an vocabulary,I got more interested in earning money for my articles. So recently when I tried to submit an article to TRINOD, I got a mail the next day stating that my article was rejected because it is already present in other blog. Even they have provided a link regarding this issue and I was shocked to find. Then I got a thought that if my blog content is being copied or not. When I searched that, I could find some of my posts on other blogs. I was really depressed because if search enginges find duplicate content then our site will be ranked less for those keywords. Hence I started thinking of protecting my content from PLAGIARISM.Hence after clearly reviewing many sites I came to a conclusion that COPYSCAPE is the best site for protecting our content. Hence I kept a warning banner in my blog which I get form copyscape. I also have a screen shot below, of this banner. Then I had warned those blog owners who copied my content, by showing that I am protected by copyscape and asked them to remove my content on their blog immediately. Within no time I got those posts removed.Even now I come and check regularly in copyscape and did not find until now any new cases. So right now I am very happy and can concentrate on providing good content to my viewers. So bloggers beware of this Plagiarism by adding a copyscape banner to your site. If you have no time to come back and check regularly, you can signup for copysentry for $4.95 a month.

    Analytical report on Cyber-plagiarism:
    2007-07-30 12:09:02
Do you ever heard about plagiarism? It’s the act of appropriating the literary composition of another author, or excerpts, ideas, or passages there from, and passing the material off as one's own creation.
